WOYWW 479

It's Wednesday and that means a visit to Julia's lovely blog and lots of other lovely crafting spaces to explore and enjoy. If you don't know what I'm talking about, the head over to WOYWW 479 at Julia's lovely blog and find out ... and I hope you'll join in the fun.

This is how the left side of my desk looks this morning - mainly cards that have been made in the last few days:t

This is the right side of my desk, with papers that have been used in the last couple of days, some stickeroos (because I used one for the top card on the left):

Those who've followed me for a while will know that I like to be organised with everything put away in the correctly labelled box. Well .... I'm now going to tell you a little secret. Every so often, things pile up on my desk and I just don't have time (or inclination) to actually put them in the right place ... and, besides, there's things that I still need in the next couple of days, so it would be silly putting them away.

As well as my trolleys of Really Useful boxes and other storage, I have two very special boxes - they sit on top of one of my units ... and you will see that the top one is smaller and has snowflakes on it.

The top one is for Christmas bits and pieces ... things that have been lurking on my desk, but haven't yet been put in their right places ... this is what it looks like atm:

The larger box is for anything else that has been taking up residence on my desk ... and it might well be needed in a day or two, so it's a bit silly to put it all away in right places ... or I just haven't had time to do so. This is the inside of that box:

If you need a bit more desk space without putting everything away, I would fully recommend getting some boxes like mine ... large enough to take 12 x 12 paper if necessary.

So now you know why my desk is reasonably tidy, most of the time.

Of course, during the course of a day, things get tipped out of the boxes back on to my desk ... and when I've used some of it, the rest either gets put away properly ... or back in the box for another day.

Hope to see you at WOYWW 479.

  2. The boxes are a great idea if it means you're not constantly tidying away...I must admit, I do tidy as I go, but that's easier to do with fabrics - not so many little bits and pieces!

  3. Hi Hazel, I too occasionally leave stuff a while before putting it away, depening what it is. If it lives close to my desk it has a greater chance of being put away, lol. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #3 XxX

  4. Happy WOYWW. I also tend to put most stuff away each day - a box for embellies/gems etc, card/paper go back in their relevant drawer/box and paints on the mixed media trolley. There is often a pile of stuff that is being used again, but at the moment my crafty table is almost bare. Digital crafting does that to a craft room! Ali x #16

  5. I wholeheartedly endorse your box idea - I have a small basket that does the same job, it's a recent addition to my desk and so far is working very well. I'm definitely a putter-awayer of things almost immediately they've been used!
Hope you have a good week,

I have boxes for the overflow, boxes for the might want it tomorrow.........and so on... LOL. I wish I could be as restrained as you! Have a good Wednesday, Cindy #20

  7. Some great cards and Yes I like the box I idea, I have several stacked ones upstairs and they are very handy. I get called away from my craft making so stuff stays a bit until I can return to finish up. Have a great week and thanks for visiting.

  8. I too like to be organised and I have boxes for things awaiting putting away - only trouble is I sometimes forget where they are. I have put some sheets away (because a friend was due to stay and I wanted it out of her way) and now I haven't a clue where they are. Searched high and low - serves me right for not tidying properly.
Hugs, Neet 1 xx (ps I can't even remember what it is I have lost at the moment - what a sorry state to be in)

  10. I love the box idea... my whole desk looks a little like that to be honest (Im not so good at the putting away thing!) The completed cards look lovely. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a lovely week. Caro x (#14)

  11. That is a great idea with the boxes Hazel. I do have one for paper offcuts which sits on the floor below the desk and which I grab if I need to stamp or die cut something small. It saves breaking into A4 or 12" x 12" sheets unnecessarily. No wonder your desk usually looks so tidy. Thanks for visiting already. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #8

  12. Hi Hazel, Looks like a nice pile of cards.

Good idea with the boxes. I have baskets for the same thing. Every now and then I will go through them and put as much as possible away.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  16. Hi Hazel, I love my boxes too - but tend to forget about things when I have put them away. I like being organised, and I like lists. Maybe a box for things I want to use would be a good idea for me ... oooh another box!! Have a lovely week Heather x #33

  21. Hi Hazel! the boxes are a great idea - I have a small basket, but the boxes look so much nicer! Thanks for your visit, Inky has been especially attentive lately, even tried to face time with her "sister" yesterday who came on Sunday while we were still away and spent the night! Inky was very glad to see her! Have a wonderful week, Lindart #25

  22. Your box method sounds like a great idea! I fear that things here wouldnt get back to their rightful places for a while - I have a random stamp box at the side of my chair that seems to have lots of stamps separated from their sets! Have a great weekend!Chrisx

  23. Oh so well sorted there Hazel! My cupboards are so haphazard - might be partly due to the fact that Tilly Tea Dance has taken over a large amount of space with her stuff too!! I love it really as it means we get to work together sometimes, which is a treat! xx Jo

  25. Your room looks so bright and organised, Hazel. What a fabulous idea, having a big box to dump everything in, out of the way! And so pretty they are, too! The trouble is, my studio is in such a chaotic state at the moment that I don't know where I'd put a dumping box lol! It's even worse today because I got my felt making box out and found that a bottle of soapy water in there had leaked all over everything, so it's all spread out drying. Thank you for your visit and please don't apologise for being late - I'm always late with my comments and actually think it's only late if it's after the next WOYWW!!! I'd rather have the comments spread out, anyway, because I'm usually too busy on Wednesdays to deal with them.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
    Shoshi #32
