In sympathy

I love these lilies - used to use them a lot and know that they were appreciated by recipients, but it's a while since I've used them. The pearlised scalloped edged circle, framing the sentiment paper, is one from a set from years ago, added on to a pearlescent turquoise blue card blank with the corners rounded.

This is my card for CHNC challenge 287: use a sentiment. Can you believe that it will be Christmas Day in six months' time ... so, if you haven't made a start on Christmas crafting, now might be a good
opportunity to join in my challenge.

For my card I used three different Christmas digital papers kindly supplied by one of the sponsors of the challenge, Lozzy (available in her Etsy shop), with two lovely snowmen characters that I found here.

Wedding day

This is a commissioned wedding card, using some background paper that was cut from a 12 x 12 scrapbook paper (no idea of the company, have had this for a long time, waiting for occasion to use it).

The sentiment was printed out and cut with a todo decorative oval and a bigger oval cut from some matt gold card. Glittered organza ribbon was wrapped around a piece of gold glitter card, with some padded hearts added. The white flower was from Hobbycraft and the bride and groom die cut was in a set I bought too many years ago to remember.

Happy birthday

This is a very similar card to the one I showed before this ... I remembered that one and thought it would be a good format for another man's card. This time I tore a piece of the Kanban sentiment cardstock, adding the stamped docrafts stamp inked with memento rich cocoa, the Kanban best wishes oval and then the felt circles with buttons in the middle - and stitching on one of them - these were given to me a long time ago.

Happy birthday,Son

This is the card I made for Paul for his birthday (a while ago now, but not blogged at the time, so I thought I'd show it now).

The sentiment cardstock used for the card originally came from Kanban via QVC some time ago. I used one of the Die-namics fishtail flag dies for the banner. The Happy Birthday was stamped with a Docrafts stamp inked with stazon midnight blue.

The glory of Christmas challenge 87

This is my design card for the Glory of Christmas challenge 87: stars. Please click on the link to see the lovely scenes created by others in the team and we would love you to join in the challenge - if you don't fancy including stars in your design you can always enter with anything as long as it's Christmas.

I used some lovely stitched paper (almost like material) that I've had for years (just waiting for the right time to use up the rest of it) - as well as stitching it has stars on it. The centre piece was cut from an old card received and I punched and added some stars out of a matt silver card offcut.

CHNC challenge 286: cute or anything goes as long as it's Christmas

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 286 - more details about the challenge if you click on the link - would love to see your Christmas crafting there.

I've cheated a bit today because the theme for every third Saturday is 'cute', but I've added 'anything goes as long as it's Christmas' for this week because I wanted to use the lovely Christmas scene 1 image kindly supplied by Robyn's Fetish as one of the sponsors of this challenge

I coloured the printed image with spectrum noir pens and cut out the shape with a henna frame Todo die, cut on the Todo and edged with a pen. The background is an upcycled card, cut a bit at the corners. The card originally had a nativity scene on it, hence the edges surrounding part of the die cut, with the addition of two Hobbycraft flowers.

O come let us adore Him

CHNC challenge extra for June mid-month inspiration

It's hard to believe that we are already almost halfway through June and at the end of the month we will be halfway through this year. It's time for some mid-month inspiration on my CHNC challenge extra blog - please click here to see the lovely designs made by some of the team, including my two quick cards that I'm showing here.

The papers are from an old Basic Grey pad with some torn scraps from fancy pants winter wonderland. I found some lovely glittered toppers and sentiment pieces in my Christmas stash - can't remember where they came from, but I like them. Unfortunately, the glittered parts don't show up here - the sentiment script is glittered, as are the stars and the archway over the nativity scene.

Red roses for a lovely wife

I was commissioned to make this card, with the request for some gold and also red roses. I used the digital corner rose four times, turning to create a continuous design, adding the sentiment labels in the middle and at the bottom raised up with foam. The roses to the left and right of the sentiment were created by using three stamps on top of one another to create the dimension of the rose (stamps were free with a magazine), using three different colours - the one on the right is actually the same as the one on the left ... just the trick of the camera flash ... and the two sentiment panels are gold foiled to match the mirror card layer, although here they don't look gold.

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 285: silver .... a little or a lot! I'm sure you can all find some silver in your Christmas stash and join in the challenge ... no, it's not too early to make Christmas cards!

For the background of my card I used an offcut piece of DCWV holiday glitzy glitter paper - the silver is very glittery in real life) with lots of strips of washi tape. The tree scene was upcycled from an old Christmas card.

DT call for Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper challenge July - December 2016

For the past year I've had a wonderfully supportive DT working with me and I am thankful for every one of them. Sadly, two or three members are not able to commit themselves to a further six months on the team which means I need at least two new members for July - December 2016.

If you would like to be considered to join the team, please leave your name in linky with a link to your blog.

The initial term would be for six months from July 2016, with a view to continuing after that if mutually agreed.

You would be expected to make one design each month - to be ready a day or too before the 1st of the month. You would be able to make anything as long as you have used some patterned paper. Your design would need to be on your blog as soon as possible after the challenge goes live - always at 00:00 UK time on 1st of the month.

Those who join the DT would be expected to comment on allocated numbers of entries throughout the month. Please be aware that if you join the team there will be quite a bit of commenting to do because there are always lots of entries.

This call will remain open until 23:55 UK time Tuesday 14 June. The new team members will be notified as soon as possible after that date in order to give time to submit a design for 1 July 2016.

We have a DT blog (on blogger) for the team to place their designs for upcoming challenges and for any passing on of information etc.

If you have any queries, please email me at craftyhazelnut@gmail.com

Let's craft and create 114

This is my design card for Let's craft and create 114: hearts and/or flowers. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

My card is dedicated to Eileen Dobson, who was the leader of the challenge blog. This is what Mary Trainer posted on the blog:

It is with great sadness that I have to share the news that Eileen Dobson, owner of this Challenge Blog passed away yesterday, May 31st in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Eileen put up a brave fight for the last few months and to say that we will miss her is an understatement.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.

I made a promise to Eileen that I would keep this Challenge Blog going so as of now I will be taking over the running of this blog, although this will always remain Eileen's Challenge.

R.I.P. Eileen dear lady.
We are honoured to have been able to call you our friend as well as our Team Leader.

I wrapped a piece of silver grey netting around the inside of the card with the line of daisies, covering the outside of the card with some unknown paper, adding rub on flowers, the little wooden heart and the peel off sentiment.

This is my design project for More mixed media challenge: anything goes + optional colour purple. Please click on the link to see the fantastic creations of the rest of the team and to read what the challenge is all about - we hope you will join in.

I altered a box that had contained an Easter egg (and very delicious it was - huge big egg with lots of chocs inside!). The box was too good to throw away and when I saw the piece of lilac/purple already on the box I decided this would be my purple project. Purple is my favourite crafting colour, so I loved putting this together.

I used urple acrylic paint, brushing and then daubing the paint, drying with the heat gun in between, adding flowers and ribbon from Lozzy and a felt bird:

I added a band of glittered paper to the rim of the lid, adding some Papermania flowers both sides and the felt bird on the top:

I used four glitter edged squares that I've had for ages (can't remember where they came from - it's about time they're used), topped with the 3D tree stickers which have also been in my Christmas stash for longer than I can remember.

The squares were mounted on to shiny red card (shine doesn't show up here) before being matted on to the white card blank.

CHNC challenge 284: vintage or anything goes as long as it's Christmas

It's time for another challenge on my Christmas blog: CHNC challenge 284: vintage or anything goes as long as it's Christmas. Please click on the link to find out what it's all about. You might think it's too early to be making Christmas cards, but some of us have been making them throughout the year to avoid panic towards the festive season. If you haven't started yet, why not make something this week and enter into the challenge.

Here are the three quick vintage cards that I made using some pictures that I bought long ago (have quite a lot of them), and papers from Bo Bunny Silver & Gold collection:
