A true friend sticks close ...

... through good times and bad. That's the sentiment that's included in the delightful image from Deedee's digis 'forever friends' set which was the 'digi of the month' given for use in the February challenge (given to all those who participated in their January challenge).

I have to confess that I thought about this challenge the other day, but with everything that's going on, I forget again and am very grateful for Kathy's reminder this morning!

I found up some tiger print card that I ought ages and ages ago and used this for the background, with a piece of orange corrugated card and Paper Cellar black glittered strips down the side. I couldn't resist using another of the images from the set for the inside of the card, together with panels to give somewhere to write a personal message.

So this is for Deedee's February digi of the month challenge.

CHNC challenge 218: cut it up

For my CHNC challenge 218 that starts today I'm asking for something to be cut when making a Christmas creation - using scissors, die cutting, a guillotine/paper trimmer ... anything that cuts!

For my Design card I printed a lovely sheet by Carol Clarke which is available on Craftuprint volume 3, which will be given as one of the prizes this week, cutting out the pieces to decoupage the picture. I deliberately took the picture to try and show the decoupage, but when viewed face on, no shadows are seen.

Rudolph day

This is a quick Christmas card for Rudolph day using a decoupaged tree that has been around on my workspace since Christmas, waiting to be used. It was rescued from a gift card from M & S.

The strips of spotted card are snippets left from a previous card (they aren't crooked irl - it's the angle of the photo) and the poinsettia was from Hobbycraft.

This is my design card for Fan-tastic Tuesday 74: anything goes with a twist ... add buttons. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and we would love you to join in our challenge.

For my card I used the Bugaboo Stamps baby fairy image (they are sponsoring the challenge), colouring with spectrum noir pens. I die cut the image with one of the Spellbinder's marvelous squares and used another of those dies to cut the background for the image, using an offcut of spotted paper that matched the background piece. The organza ribbon with gems was from Hobbycraft. Buttons from my box of many buttons!

Happy birthday, man!

This is a birthday card for one of my great nephews who is a Simpsons fan (hope he still is!) - it's his birthday today and I know he's received this,, so it's safe to blog.

The top and bottom are offcuts from a piece of mirror card that had been embossed with one of the 8 x 8 embossing folders from the textures bundle I bought recently (the beauty of an 8 x 8 folder is that there will be snippets over after making a 6 x 6 card). The sentiment strip across the middle is another offcut, with some washi tape added and the Simpsons picture from the internet.

The cheerful stamp pad challenge 105 week 2

This is my design card for the cheerful stamp pad challenge 105 week 2, where the theme  is 'B stands for bear'. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and you can join in our challenge here.

For my card I've used Stitchy Bear's Digi Outlet 'boo boo bear'. I coloured with my newly-acquired Chameleon pens (please be gentle as I've only just started using these). I tore around a perspex oval template and brushed the edges with brushed corduroy distress ink. The background sentiment papers are offcuts. A few fabric hearts were added as it looked too plain without them.

This is my design card for my CHNC challenge 217: feature a creature.  Please click on the link to find out  more about the challenge and also to see the lovely card supplied by by guest, Lozzy. I hope you will be able to join in my challenge - there are five sponsors this week, so five opportunities to win a prize!

My card features some of Buckwell's digital papers (one of the five sponsors for this challenge) from their Christmas CD and also Its stripes. and Checkout. I've used an image from 'Christmas wonderland trees' by Diane Noble at Diane's Daydream Designs (sadly, Diane is no longer selling her digital images, but kindly supplied these ahead of that decision). I created the card totally digitally.

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 68

This is my design card for today's Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 68: anything goes with a twist ... monochrome. Please click the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our monochromatic challenge.

The challenge is being sponsored by Lacy Sunshine and I used their Emily's kimono image, which I coloured with just one alcohol pen - the Chameleon 'sky blue' - this is my first attempt at using one of the Chameleon pens that were delivered earlier this week. As with anything new, practice is needed ... so I will take take and try to get better with using them.

Papers are from the DCWV Far East collection (I was given an 8 x 8 pad ages and ages ago and I'm still using some up, including the scrap piece down the side, as well as the other bigger offcuts). I stamped on to the background paper using Stazon teal blue, but it doesn't show up too well here. I also stamped the fan on to a scrap piece of card that matched the background and cut around it. Washi tape was added either side of the scrap piece.

This is also for Inkspirational 76 where this photo was given:

This is my design card for Completely Christmas challenge 51: anything goes with a twist ... no red or green. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in the fun.

The challenge is being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and I used their Little penguin winter image which I coloured with spectrum noir pens. The main papers are from Fantastic Foils Festive Frolics and I used a couple of strips of textured card as well, punching some snowflakes out of snippets of this card.

I'm showing this card as well for my own CHNC challenge 217 to help promote Completely Christmas.

Simply brown

Another card that I made a while ago, using a piece of card with text that I've had for ages wrapped round with some eyelash fibre (still have quite a lot of this kind of thing boxed away ... used to use it a lot, but it rarely sees the light of day now, which is a pity really). The cheerful stamp pad challenge 105: B stands for bear

This is my design card for the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 105: B stands for bear. Please click on the link to see the lovely beary designs of the rest of the team and we would love you to join in our challenge.

I covered a piece of card randomly with red and yellow Pan Pastels and then brushed this lightly with a thin layer of white gesso. I then used a stencil with hearts, first using red Pan Pastel and then a thin smear of white gesso, gently wiping some of this so that the years became pink. I got the idea to use Pan Pastels and gesso in this way here. I printed out the digital image of Beary Dust Stamps 'ballerina bear' kindly supplied by the challenge sponsor, Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet. I coloured this with spectrum noir pens. I added some small pink hearts on to the larger hearts dotting with liquid pearls gold, adding some also to the bear, the sentiment oval and the chipboard number 1 that had been coloured with a spectrum.

This is, of course, for a baby's first birthday.

I can't believe it's already halfway through February and time for the mid month inspiration for CHNC challenge extra for February. You can see the wonderful designs of the team here and we would love you to join in our February challenge here - any Christmas design.

For my card I used Bugaboo Stamps Little penguin winter, kindly supplied by them as sponsors of the challenge. I coloured with spectrum noir pens.
