CHNC challenge 26: anything goes

It's six months since last Christmas and six months till next Christmas, so, if you haven't started yet, it's time to get going on making some cards so that panic doesn't set in nearer the time.

To help you on your way, as it's the mid-point in the year, I thought we'd have an 'anything goes' challenge this week on my Christmas challenge blog.

This is my card -I'm afraid it's a very quick card this time because by the time this is published we will be away and I had little time to get anything else done for this challenge.

I've very simply mounted some My Mind's Eye Christmas glitter paper on to the folds of the card and topped the main part with three kings rescued from a card we received a couple of years ago. The inner panel that you can't see is lined like the front piece, left blank for a handwritten message. The 'joy & peace' stamp is a Papermania one.

I'm entering this into these challenges:

This is a test to see whether I can blog from my iPad. I'm inserting an old photo just to see if I can add images ok.

Just in case anyone thinks this was taken in Bromley, it wasn't - it was taken in Maidstone.

BF twinchies for June swap

This time the details for the inchie swap on BF forum was a recipe:

lace
3 xbling
image
piece of patterned paper
blue and white

I have to confess that at first this seemed a tall order - to get all these on to a piece of card just 2" x 2", but in the end I really enjoyed doing these.

I used:

7gypsies baja playa paper
Lace and gems from stash
Co'redination whitewash card embossed with cuttlebug folder and sanded to reveal blue
cArt-Us border flower stamped with Elzebell sugar candy white
Distressing with stormy sky DI

I'm linking these for:

Jac-inks 11: inspiration photo - used the colours
Charisma cardz 25: white & 1 other colour
Totally stampalicious: something old, something new - everything old, but the little border flower stamp is new

Getting inky with ATCs

I have so many other things to do atm that crafting is having to take a bit of a back seat. However, I need to do something for a couple of swaps, so a good excuse to get inky - particularly as this month's ATC swap on BF forum is 'ink'.

I dabs a mixture of red pepper and wild plum alcohol inks with blending solution on to white shiny card and then stamped Penny Black sparklers with stazon vibrant violet, edging the ATCs with the stazon.

Bubbly Funk forum next CJ

It's been nearly a year since the BF forum CJ group started sending round their journals - which means that we now get to see other people's CJs nearly finished. This DLO is for Leigh's Astrology journal - the idea is for each of us to do something to represent our star sign. I didn't find this easy because I don't 'do' star signs and astrology, so I kept this very matter-of-fact (I was pleased to see that this was how most of the participants had responded).

The background papers are My mind's eye wild asparagus. It was an opportunity to use one of my favourite stamps - the big Magenta lion one, simply inked with memento rich cocoa. Ribbons and sun sticker from stash.

Colours are for SPCC 105:

I'm also entering this into these challenges:

Cutie Sunday 143: animals
Going grey with Scrap creatons: animal kingdom
Order of the opus gluei 106: it's a jungle out there

Another sunny day ...

... and this time it really is a sunny day (so far so good, although breezy with clouds). Anyway, back to the card, I've made another one with papers and components from We R Memory Keepers (very similar to the previous card - thought I'd make another while the papers are out). I've added a butterfly and the sun (an artoz sticker) and the little flip flops at the bottom.

Once again, colours are for Annabelle: say it in:

Sunny day ...

... sweeping the clouds away - that's the saying on this sunny summer card, based on the Sunday sketch for 365 cards day 104 (yes, I'm still running behind - always will be at the rate I'm going - lol!):
Colours are for Annabelle: say it in:

and also for ECP 40:

Papers and other components except the flowers are We R Memory Keepers. The centre of the crocheted flower is a fabric covered brad. The A5 card blank is a Dena design - there is a lot of glitzy glitter on this card to give it a sunny feel. As I was making this it was pouring with rain - so much for June sunny days!

Commissioned card for 13 year old

I had a request for a card for a boy's 13th birthday - I was told he liked dogs and cats and playing computer games.

I downloaded Mo Manning's 'video boy' and coloured with copics, mounting on orange card before mounting on the K & Co 'rough and tumble' background paper.

The date and sentiment were done with my dymo letratag. The numerals were from Paperchase.

Mr Popper's penguins

Since last Monday on 365 cards the theme has been Movie week - I didn't start the challenges till yesterday and worked backwards, so I've now reached Monday's prompt, which is Mr Popper's penguins for day 105 - the easiest of the lot.

I used a blue card blank and tore strips of hammered white for the snow. The penguins are Personal ipressions 'peguin fun' and the sentiment stamp is from PI 'stay cosy this Christmas', all designed by Lindsay Mason. Just a little colouring and the card was finished - the hardest bit was cutting out the penguins.

This is also for:

Cards for men 12: blue and black (hope there isn't too much white to qualify for the challenge)
Nadia's challenge 8: black and white + 1 colour
Christmas stampin all year long: black, white and ??

Crazy dancing

The prompt for the movie theme for day 106 on 365 cards was for the film 'not bummer summer'. I went online and watched a video trailer for this film - it seemed to be very fast moving and full of OTT adventures and crazy happenings, which led me to think of crazy dancing - hence this card, using some Kanban music and dance papers etc. It says Happy Birthday on the 'record'. There's a lot of red foiling that doesn't really show up here.

This is also for:

Sparkling green Christmas

For day 107 on 365 cards the movie picture was:

My card has got nothing actually to do with the movie - I took the rich green colour as the inspiration for this Christmas card.

The card blank is stardream and the papers and glittered baubles are Anna Griffin. The paper on the left is flocked - a lovely feel to it.

This is also for:

Fun at fairy knoll: sparkle power
Crafts and me 39: bling it on
Crafty Ann 43: Christmas in June
Irish teddy's: Christmas is coming, Christmas is ...

Another male card

I've made quite a few masculine cards in the last few days - I suppose with Father's Day tomorrow it was inevitable that there would be a lot of challenges with an emphasis on the guys. This has been very useful to help build up stocks.

This card came about by accident. I had got out two photos - the red car that I used on the previous card and the yellow one that I've used here - I wasn't going to use the yellow one, but I accidentally put adhesive on the back, thinking it was the red car for the previous card, so I've ended up using it - with the sketch for Cutie Sunday 142:

Once again, papers are from my offcuts - never seem to use these up.

This is also for:

Pile it on 24: what's your angle
365 cards day 87: cool (a pretty 'cool' car to own)
Pixie cottage 74: grab a glass of lemonade - something yellow
Sentimental Sundays 59: masculine card
Bows n berries 7: masculine
Cupcake 146: boy, oh boy, oh boy ...
Incy wincy 98: masculine
Daisy doodles 35: masculine card
Wags n whiskers 56: one for the boys
Mami doodles 38: card for a boy or a man
Freshly brewed 49: it's a guy thing
Shelly's terrifically thrilling Thursday: snakes, snails & puppy dog tails - a card for a man
2 sisters 44: for a guy
Papertake: dads & lads
Just some lines: spotty dotty

Male birthday card

For this card I've used the sketch for Clean & simple 145:

The photo on 365 cards day 108 prompted me to make the card, but it hasn't really got anything to do with the movie - but it does have a red car!

I used up some paper offcuts and a photo that was part of a Kanban men's kit - just added the Craftime sentiment and the card was done.

This is also for:

Sentimental Sundays 59: masculine card
Bows n berries 7: masculine
Cupcake 146: boy, oh boy, oh boy ...
Incy wincy 98: masculine
Daisy doodles 35: masculine card
Wags n whiskers 56: one for the boys
Dutch dare 117: for the boys
Mami doodles 38: card for a boy or a man
Freshly brewed 49: it's a guy thing
Shelly's terrifically thrilling Thursday: snakes, snails & puppy dog tails - a card for a man
2 sisters 44: for a guy
Papertake: dads & lads
Just some lines: spotty dotty
Phindy's Friday 60: black and white

Transformers

In between doing other things (yes, I ought to be getting ahead with the CJ and my swaps) I'm trying to catch up a bit with 365 cards challenges. All this week has been a movie theme and day 109 had this prompt:

Well, I know little about this film (it's more accurate, actually, to say I know nothing about it), but I'm hoping that my card with a robot will be (nearly) appropriate - I've used some 3D stickers from Poundland that I've had for ages and the background paper is Little Boy designed by Cherelle (I've also had that for a long time and never used any of it).

This is also for:

Shelly's terrifically thrilling Thursday: snakes, snails & puppy dog tails - a card for a boy
Dutch dare 117: for the boys
Papertake: dads & lads

Keeping warm

Challenge 24 on Bah! humbug is 'scarves and mittens'. I've used a Charmed Dottie Christmas download digi - I think Dottie is a bit of a rebel because she isn't actually wearing her mittens.

The card isn't actually crooked, just the photo! Papers are a mixture of English Paper Company and Patchwork pals from my offcuts box.

Once again I've used one of my favourite shaped card.

This is also for:

Crafty Ann 43: Christmas in June
Irish teddy's: Christmas is coming, Christmas is ...
Crazy challenge 71: monochromatic
Lexi 42: no sentiment

Silver glittered Christmas with love

This card is for ABC Christmas: L for love - plus green/silver/red. The background paper is once again from PM Classic Christmas and the decoupaged glittered trees and reindeer are Anna Griffin. This is for Fun at fairy knoll: sparkle power and Crafts and me 39: bling it on.

The sentiment was done on my dymo letratag.

I chose the shaped card for Your next stamp 44: seeing shapes.

It's also another one for Claire's challenge for the Christmas gang and for:

Crafty Ann 43: Christmas in June
Irish teddy's: Christmas is coming, Christmas is ...

Pooh and friends

For the past week on 365 cards the challenges have been based on movies - today, for day 110 Mega Movie Saturday, this is the inspiration:
As usual, I'm behind with the 365 challenges and am starting with the latest one and working backwards!

I've had some Disney Pooh epoxy stickers in my stash for a long time, having used one of them ages ago and not the rest. I thought this was just right for this card.

I've used the sketch given for Corrosive 120, turning it on its side:

The sentiment was computer generated and printed - all papers are from my offcuts box - the ovals were torn.

The bright colours are inspired by Moxie Tuesday Trigger rainbow bright:

Also this inspiration picture for ECP 40:

This is also for:

Cardmakin mamas 22: with a child/for a child
One stop craft 136: stick it - use a sticker

Prize from Paper Pretties

Postie has brought me this lovely stamp set:

I won it for challenge 153 on Paper Pretties with this card:

A big THANK YOU to Paper Pretties - I look forward to using this.

Simply for the Christmas gang

You may have noticed links in my sidebar to the Christmas gang - a group of crafters who like to get ahead with making Christmas cards throughout the year - one of the gang chooses a topic for the fortnight. If you are interested in joining in, just get in touch with one of us.

For this challenge Claire asked us to use red, white and green and include a reindeer.

I have to confess that atm I'm chasing my tail a bit and trying to get as much crafting done as possible - quite a few commissions and swaps etc to do, so I went for the easy option. PM Classic Christmas papers were still out on my work surface, having used some on Friday for a card, so I decided to make a couple of CAS cards for this challenge. The card blanks are stardream, which has a lovely sparkly sheen to it and there is red foiling on the papers I used.

This is also for:

Crafty Ann 43: Christmas in June
Winter wonderland: Christmas flowers
Irish teddy's: Christmas is coming, Christmas is ...
Crafts and me 39: bling it on

A commissioned birthday card

I had a request for a birthday card by a lady who has commissioned me now for two or three years to make a card for her husband - the thing is that she tends to ask for the same sort of thing every time and I'm running out of ideas of something different. She wants it to include a Bible and some flowers.

I found the image on the internet, mounted it on the sentiment paper and on to a piece of striped Craftwork cards vintage rose paper, generating the sentiments on computer.

I know that it's unusual to use pink for a man's card, but I liked the pink flowers in the picture, so thought I would continue the theme - and the gentleman who will receive the card loves flowers.

This is for:

Sentimental Sundays 59: masculine card
Bows n berries 7: masculine
Cupcake 146: boy, oh boy, oh boy ...
Incy wincy 98: masculine
Wags n whiskers 56: one for the boys
2 sisters 44: for a guy
Papertake: dads & lads
Creative Friday 46: black/white/pink
Glitter geeks 2: male

BF inchies for June: films

The topic for the June inchies swap on BF forum is 'films'. One of my favourites - indeed, the book as well as the film is one of my all-time favourites) is Rebecca.

I'm afraid there wasn't much crafting in making these. I found a picture from the internet, which I scaled down and added 'Rebecca' in Digital Image Pro, mounted on red card and added a heart gem to each inchie. (I've just noticed that one of the hearts is on the wrong way round - I've put it right now!)

That's one thing I can now tick off the list - just need to do my pages in a CJ, a twinchies swap and an ATC swap, not to mention a few cards.

These are also for:

Nadia's challenge 8: black and white and 1 colour
Divas by design: anything but a card

CHNC challenge 25: Christmas wings

Another week has rolled by and it's time for CHNC challenge 25: Christmas wings - for this challenge I'm asking you to include an angel or a fairy - more details here.

I've used CPS sketch 222 for my card:

I chose to use a 7 x 5 matt foiled gold card, layering with a print out of sheet music, an offcut of some Kanban foiled card and a piece of ribbon that's been in my stash for ages. The stamped image is Anita's angel coloured with copics. I love the simplicity of this angel.

This is also for:

Christmas wreath of peace

Here is another Christmas card (surprise! surprise!), this time based on the sketch given for Christmas Challenges with sketches 2:

The papers are PM Classic Christmas and the sentiments were embossed on textured card with a folder through the cuttlebug and sanded to reveal some of the white core. I rounded corners with a punch - just right for Card and a half's little extra challenge 1 to use embossing folders and punches. The embossing is also for HLSC challenge 26 and Bling it on challenge 4.

The dark lines on the main background paper are red foiled, as is the word 'peace', but that doesn't really show here.

I chose the wreath picture for Christmas inspirations (natalduranteoanotodo) 27: wreath/garland.

This is also for:

Crafty Ann 43: Christmas in June

Give us a clue

I bought this Penny Black stamp a while ago, but this is the first time I've used it - think it will be one of those that really comes in handy.

This is for a male recipient, so nothing flowery - thought black and white with a touch of red would be good with the crossword image. This is for Penny Black's Saturday challenge 155: one for the guys.

I've used the sketch for Sweet Sunday 121:

The papers are very old ones - think they are DCWV and/or Dovecraft.
