Pink, pink and more pink!

Before I made the rosettes that I showed here I tried out making a large rosette (6" diameter) using my newly acquired Hougie board. When I was looking for something else today (stickers etc to put on the notebooks that I've altered for tomorrow's sale - yes, I've actually done some at last!) I came across this pink and white rosette which was the trial one and thought I ought to use it. So my base card is 8 x 8 to accommodate it, matted with a bright pink card with a tapestry finish - corners were cut with Fiskars celestial scissors. I stamped the Hero Arts circle lace doily stamp with versamark and heat embossed with hot pink powder. I then cut it out with a scalloped nestie. The flowers with pearls were from the 99p store.

I'm not sure what I'll do with this card because it's rather large and I don't think anyone will buy it, but at least I enjoyed making it.

Christmas shopping with love

The background paper for this card is from the Kate Knight Christmas collection with a torn strip of paper that came with and old Making Cards, with a piece of gingham ribbon down the side. The lady laden with Christmas shopping is a decoupaged Jolly Nation character.

Pink Christmas

There's a lot of pink around atm, which isn't surprising because there are lots of blogs promoting 'think pink' because October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

So I've made a pink Christmas card, using a magazine freebie background and four gold foiled squares that originally came with a kit a couple of years ago. I added the sentiment circle and coloured the snowflake with a marvy le plume alcohol pen (these were still close at hand from earlier).

Unfortunately, because of the flash photo the card looks more lilac than pink, but it is definitely pink irl.

Harry needs a hand

Work's still going on in the kitchen and everywhere is in a muddle, so I'm staying where I feel happiest ... and making cards.

Here's five more, this time using Mo Manning's 'Harry needs a hand' digital image, coloured with marvy le plume alcohol pens (I bought a couple of lots of these from QVC in one of those 'must have' moments and have hardly used them because I confess I already have a big selection of copics and promarkers). The background paper is Craft creations Ruth Watkins Christmas 02 (cut carefully you can get all five from a 12 x 12 with a bit to spare). These colours make a change for Christmas.

I was prompted to make these by the Mo's digital challenge 103: patchwork.

Some quick cards

I really want to get on with some notebooks for Saturday, but this morning we have someone doing alterations in our kitchen, so everything's in a bit of an uproar (yet again!) so I just can't settle to them, so I decided to use the time to make a few quick cards to sell in packs of 5.

The background paper on these cards is Teresa Collins Noel definitions. I wish I'd bought more of this paper because I love it - it's doubled sided and has text on the back against a rich red background.

The stamped and embossed images were done ages ago when a dear crafting friend sent me a stamp to borrow (you'll see more of these soon because I stamped up quite a few before sending the stamp back).

Christmas blues

This is for the sketch for Totally Gorjuss 100 - they are celebrating a centenary of challenges this week - yay!:

The oval decoupage was part of a QVC kit two or three years ago. All papers, including the text vellum that is stuck on to blue mirror card (not as bright as this irl) are from my Christmas offcuts box.

Friendship

Some time ago I made a small square card using a favourite paperbag studio stamp and I've never used the card so I decided to mount the front on to a card with a piece of Dream Street simply stated - straight talk paper.

OOh la la

This week's Daring cardmakers challenge is to make a card featuring a foreign language.

Earlier this year I made three mini cards (you can see the original post here) using 7 gypsies baja 'amour' paper (the script has definitons such as dream, kiss, happiness, love etc) and Crafty Individuals pictures, together with silver embossed hearts and diamente gems.

I cut the fronts off these little cards (I came across them today when I was getting my cards ready for Saturday, so I thought I would use them), distressed them with brushed corduroy DI and mounted them on to papers from g.c.d Paris Nights collection (I do love these papers), distressing the edges and adding a different ribbon on each card.

WOYWW 122

It's a while since I've taken part in WOYWW (if you don't know what I'm talking about then click the link and go over to Julia's blog and have a nosey at everyone's workspace ... and perhaps let us have a look at yours.

Regular visitors to my blog recently will be aware that I'm having a sale on Saturday to raise money for Tearfund.

As usual, despite my good intentions, I had piles of cards that had been made, but I needed to put inserts in and bag and label them ... so boring! Well, I've persevered and I've done them all (you'll just see a little pile on the right that are not bagged because they will be stood up to show the various shapes and pop-ups.

I've also been able to get together 20 cards for St Luke's - I've been playing in their challenges and have been meaning to send them some cards, so that's another job done.



Since taking the photos a little while ago I've moved the boxes into the other room ready for Saturday and will later need to make them more presentable and label with prices etc. - that's something I can do while the TV is on in the background.

Now I have a clear space to work in and have got some sticky notes and some notebooks to cover, a commission to make and a few more cards ... and it's only Wednesday, so there's plenty of time still - lol! However, we have someone coming tomorrow to make alterations to our kitchen - installing two ovens and altering the housing where the present ones are (must be mad to have workmen in this week - one came back to finish off bits in the bathroom yesterday and mend a leaking pipe under the kitchen sink ... oh for a normal day!)

Big apologies to all WOYWWers - with the pressure of time mounting up this week there's no way that I'm going to be able to get round the blogs, even with the best will in the world. Please forgive me.

Christmas flowers

I'm supposed to be getting on with inserts/bagging cards (not many to do now, thank goodness), but I'm just having a breather while I wait for Mr Ocado to bring my groceries, so I've just got time to show two of the cards I made when we were in Eastbourne last week. I bought the Anna Griffin Christmas kit box from QVC in July thinking that I would be able to make some quick cards ready for my Tearfund sale. The quality of Anna's stuff is usually excellent, but, sadly, it's not the case with this kit - stickers wouldn't stick, the linings of the envies are put in wrongly (having to ditch those), most of the decoupaged pieces were out of alignment, so I had to take them apart and back together again ... so the hope of making quick cards didn't really happen. Nevermind, I did manage to make some and here are two of them for Scrapbook sisters challenge 55: Christmas flowers:

Christmas robin

I love robins on Christmas cards. When I received this one a couple of years ago I knew that I had to keep it and recycle it, so this is a very simple card made very quickly - with a touch of glitter here and there.

Black and white Christmas

O little town of Bethlehem

This is a card I made last night, using the front aperture of a card received a couple of years ago and a picture from another one that I put underneath this. The addition of a piece of white and gold backing paper from my offcuts box and the card was complete.

Squares and hearts

I've spent a lot of time today putting inserts in cards and bagging up ready for my Tearfund on Saturday - I haven't actually finished the job yet and I said I wouldn't make any more new cards until I have, but I couldn't resist.

So here is a quick card for the sketch for Cards and things 89:

It was difficult to get a photo with a flash - the card blank is actually a darker navy blue. The epoxy hearts are Country Companion, the background paper is an offcut piece of HOTP that's been in my scrap box for some time and the ribbons and gems from stash.

CHNC challenge 40: for a male

How the weeks go by - who would believe that it's time for another challenge on my Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge blog and that we are now up to week 40! Time to get serious with making those Christmas cards, so, if you haven't yet joined in, why not go over there and take a look and start to build up some Christmas cards before it gets to the silly season!

So for challenge 40 I'm asking for Christmas cards for males - men or boys, you choose. And this week, as it's the first Saturday in the month, there will be a prize for a randomly picked winner - details on the Christmas blog.

I've chosen to make a card suitable to give to a man (although I'm sure that a lady would equally like to receive it). I cut the corners from an A4 piece of silver foiled deep grey card, joining in the middle and then covering this with the stitched ribbon. The image is an Anita's stamp that I've had for ages, simply inked with memento tuxedo black - this didn't come out too black, which is just right for the deep grey background. I mounted the image on some grey mirror card.

A lovely surprise to come home to

Before we went away I found out that I'd won a prize on Heidi's Hobbystuggu challenge blog for their July/August challenge - you can read about it here.

I have to admit that with going away for the week I'd forgotten about it. When we got back there was a note through the door from a neighbour who said that she had taken a package that the postman had tried to deliver - I couldn't think what it could be - so it was such a lovely surprise to find that it was a pack of over 50 12 x 12 papers - the photo doesn't do them justice - there are so many tucked away out of sight.

I'm itching to get on and use some of them, but those inserts and bagging need to be done!

Blogging again after a break

We returned from Eastbourne yesterday, having had a week of mostly beautiful weather (some rain one morning and one day when mist drifted in from the sea) - a fantastic bonus for this time of the year.

We stayed in a lovely suite which had a sitting room and two bedrooms, one of which had an en-suite bathroom as well as there being a main bathroom - we were thoroughly spoiled and very much enjoyed it.

And now it's back to reality! I'm having a card sale to raise money for Tearfund next Saturday 8 October and I need to get prepared for it. Most of the Christmas cards I've been making throughout the year need inserts and then need to be bagged and labelled, as well as lots of other cards - I must get these done before I make any more - and I'm hoping to have time to make some notebooks and post-it note holders because they usually sell well.

I've already scheduled my new Christmas challenge for tomorrow (I did it before we went to Eastbourne), so that will be shown on here, but, apart from that, I think it will be a few days before I show any new cards.

Before I finish this post, I'll just show some craft goodies that I bought in Eastbourne:

I really would like to get on and use some of these new goodies ... but I must get the inserts and bagging done first (wish I could wave a magic wand and have them done because I find the job so boring).

CHNC challenge 39: for a child

For today's challenge 39 on my Christmas challenge blog I'm asking for a Christmas card for a child.

I've made mine for Baby's first Christmas, using K & Co Secret Santa papers, a chipboard tree and a Personal Impressions stamped image by Linday Mason, coloured with copics. The sentiment was generated on my dymo letratag.

BF September inchies

The theme for the inchies swap this month on the BF forum is 'primary colours'. I've used a digi from Heartsong Inspirations, one of three that I won for their challenge 15 recently. The digital image is called 'book with flowers & apple'.

I coloured with copics and then put a nice blob of glossy accents on each of the apples - they are really raised and shiny irl.
