Seeing spots at Christmas

This week's Christmas stampin' all year challenge is 'seeing spots'. I've used Cosmo cricket deck the hollies mitten weather double sided paper for these five cards. The snow scene was stamped with versamark on to stardream card and heat embossed with detail black powder (the stamp was one that I borrowed from a dear crafting friend at the beginning of the year).

This is also for:

Butterflies notebook

Another altered notebook - the background is a lovely piece of foiled card and the 3D butterfly stickers were from Poundland (as was the notebook - 4 in a pack for £1 - can't be bad!).

This is for:

Going round in circles with a hippo

Another sticky note holder

The frog and turtle

'The frog and turtle' sounds like a wacky name for a pub! Anyway, there's a frog and a turtle on this post-it note holder - the holder itself was made by using my Hougie board to score lines for the folds to surround the post-it notes.

The card I used was recycled from a stationery set (it was part of the cover) - too good to waste.

This is for:

The pink elephant 121: scoring (sorry, you can't actually see it, but scoring was used with my Hougie board to create the wrap-around to house the sticky notes)
Die cuttin' divas 37: scaly, cold-blooded reptiles (the turtle)
Cuddly buddly 16: anything but a card
The crafty pad 143: monochromatic

A little bird told me ...

This week's Less is more challenge 37 is 'cocktail' - I was going to make a card featuring a cocktail drink and then I decided to make one featuring a cockerel instead. I've used a Woodware stamp by Jennifer Garant that I received quite a while ago as part of a prize for winning a Woodware USA challenge.

One layer Wednesday 68 is asking us to 'get triangular' - the shape of the cockerel.

The theme for this week's Daring cardmakers is 'A little bird told us ...' - the challenge is being sponsored by The Ribbon Reel - so I'm also linking for that.

Purple butterfly ATCs

The ATC swap for the group on the Bubbly Funk forum this month is 'butterflies'. Having used some butterfly stamps before for swaps on BF I needed to think of something different for this swap.

I came across a new ATC challenge blog called Wicked Wednesday and their first challenge is: all about you. I decided to make these ATCs all about me in the sense of what I love to use for crafting - the colour purple, butterflies, torn and inked edges, stamping, distressed inks ... and, of course, beautiful papers. I used a double sided paper by Prima from their Indeed collection 'enchanted' - the torn pieces are from the reverse side and I stamped Penny Black butterfly edges with stazon vibrant violet, distressing torn edges with dusty concord DI and also using this to 'water colour' the butterfly images I stamped above (a little stamp with no name that I've had for ages - can't remember where it came from).

We didn't lose the game ...

Mr Pumpkin

This is for Take time for you 51: sketch + autumn:

The image is a Mo Manning digi 'the big one' from Mo's Digital Pencil, coloured with copics. - I couldn't resist getting this digi when I saw it used on a couple of cards on this week's Pile it on challenge. I don't celebrate halloween, but thought this was good for a fun autumn birthday card for a boy.

The scalloped circle was cut with a nestie and the edges distressed, as well as the edges of the background Bo Bunny paper and the scraps of BG paper across the middle (this wasn't long enough to go all the way across the middle, so I used it in two bits because it's covered by the circle, so no one would know the difference - lol!)

The leaves down the side are 'bright autumn brders' by Creative Memories, the crocheted flower is held with a fabric covered brad and the sentiment was generated on my dymo letratag.

Challenge 104 on Mo's digital pencil is 'inspired by a song', so this is for the song:

Mr Pumpkin (sung to: Are you sleeping):

Mr Pumpkin, Mr Pumpkin,
Eyes so round, eyes so round,
Fall is coming, fall is coming,
To my town, to my town.

This is also for Just some lines: reminds me of a song.

This card is for Crazy challenge 88 sketch, with optional autumn colours:

Once again, I've used offcuts from my scraps box, including a die cut circle of BG paper stamped with one of my favourite leaf stamps by Stampers Anonymous with memento rich cocoa. Edges have been distressed with spiced marmalade and fired brick. The gold foiled sentiment is from Craftwork cards.

One again, colours are inspired by the photo for the pink elephant 120:

Best wishes to a true friend

This card uses supplies from the Kanban Gentleman's journal. It's quite unusual to get something suitable for a male that says something about friendship.

The quote says: 'Today's experiences are tomorrow's memories'.

This is for:

AiFactory 95: friendship

Autumn scraps

This 'autumnal' card is for the sketch on Clearly inspired challenge 37:

which lends itself perfectly to using up scraps for:

Do you stack up 41: use your scraps

The background piece is an offcut from a 12 x 12 PM paper birdsong collection (there's actually a bird on the paper, but covered up). The other pieces from left to right are Victoria & Albert linen paper, DCWV, BG and I'm not sure what the yellow one matting the sentiment is. I distressed the white sentiment embossed card and the yellow surrounding lightly with brushed corduroy and fired brick DIs, which has resulted in an autumnal orange.

Colours are inspired by the photo for the pink elephant 120:

and this photo inspiration for Papercraft star 66, which must include a leaf:

CHNC challenge 42: baubles or anything hanging

It's Saturday again and time for a new challenge on my Christmas blog.

For CHNC challenge 42 I'm asking for a card with at least one bauble or something hanging.

My first card is one made with components from an Anna Griffin kit:

My second card features something rescued from a card received last year, mounted on to a piece of embossed silver and white paper.

I'm linking for these challenges:
