Just a note

I made this for Suzy Bee's Bloomin Challenge 2: colour palette - the challenge is being hosted by Team B, but as a member of Team A I have the option of contributing.

This is the colour palette:

The winner of the challenge will receive a wonderful blog candy prize - please click here to go to the challenge and see the goodies that you could win - don't forget, you've got to be in it to win it, so please get your entry in. And, of course, please see the beautiful crafting of the design team.

The background paper for my card is from a Make & Create pad purchased from The Works called 'vintage style paperstack'. The torn papers are Dovecraft back to basics IV with a piece of Tim Holtz washi tape. Ovals were torn around templates and one of my favourite Penny Black stamps 'sparklers' was inked with memento rich cocoa, as was the sentiment stamp too.

Remember ...

It's time for a new challenge on the Sweet Pea Stampers blog and the theme is 'let us remember/thinking of you'. Please click on the link to see the wonderful crafting of the rest of the team - and please join in with our challenge.

For my design card I've used ching chous kuik's 'Poppy, from the mist' digital image (also available as a stamp) coloured with spectrum noirs. The background paper is Pink Petticoat vintage rose collection and the die cut, glittered shape on the left is Papermania  Spotty ribbons and Craftime flowers from stash, the flowers were originally pink, so I coloured with a spectrum red pen and blender. The sentiment is a K & Co chipboard piece that I've had for years. I distressed this with a sanding block.

The real meaning of Christmas

For today's Christmas Card Club challenge Christine has asked us to make religious cards. She says:

'I thought we could visit the true meaning of Christmas this time.  In the midst of all the shopping and parties and hustle and bustle etc I think we sometimes need to just take a step back and consider what Christmas is really all about. But we can still have fun at the same time.'

I've made three cards from Hunkydory supplies, featuring the wise men. These cards look so much better in real life - photos aren't that good, but had to take them in a hurry yesterday before my card sale.

This third card actually has another wise man underneath the first one, on the inside of the card, but didn't take a photo:

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 1: embossing

The day has finally arrived!

I am so thrilled to be on the design team for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge blog right from the beginning. If you haven't visited there yet, please do so and see what other members of the team have made for Challenge 1: embossing - and please join in the challenge.

The challenge is being sponsored by Lacy Sunshine who will be giving the winner a $20 gift certificate to spend in their online shop. Lacy Sunshine provided the team with images to use and mine is 'Daisy Sue'.

I decided to put my embossing on the inside of the card, cutting away the front to reveal some of this from the outside. The embossing was done with the Embossaliacious 'floral vine' folder, brushed with spiced marmalade distress ink.

The main piece of patterned paper on the front is an offcut of My Mind's Eye Alphabet Soup Girl 'sweet song'. The torn ovals behind the image are offcuts of pieces from a magazine freebie. I coloured the image with spectrum noirs. I printed the sentiment and added the piece of ribbon.

I decorated the inside of the oval with a piece of paper from my offcuts box.

Another new home card

For this card I've used the same image as the previous card, just making it bigger - once again, coloured with spectrum noirs (they are fast taking over from copics, which I used to prefer).

This card is based on the sketch for Sweet Sunday sketch 196:

The card blank was ready decorated and I added a piece of embossed card on the right and some scraps across the top and behind the image.

New home

I've been a bit absent from blogland in the last few days, for a few reasons, one being that I have a card sale at a friend's home tomorrow. I've been making cards, but no time to blog them, except the design team ones that need to be shown.

Anyway, I've been asked to take some new home cards with me and particularly with a cottage on, so for this card I used a cottage digital image from Cuddly Buddly, coloured with spectrum noirs.

I based the card on the sketch for The sweet stop 234:

I used an offcut of gingham paper that had come with a magazine, tearing the bottom. The image was mounted on to an offcut of red card. The card blank is embossed. Sorry the photo is crooked, but it was taken in a hurry.

CHNC challenge extra for November

Can you believe that it's now November?! It's scary how quickly yet another year has been going - it's true that as you get older, time seems to go more and more quickly.

It's time for CHNC challenge extra for November and this is my card using 'reindeer leap' kindly supplied by Bugaboo Stamps, who are always our generous sponsors. There is a prize of $21 of digital images for the randomly chosen winner at the end of the month. You can join in with anything, as long as it is Christmas.

I coloured the image digitally in Paint and matted it on to an offcut of red mirror card, adding a 3D sticker in the corner. The card blank was ready printed with the repeat patterns of Santa's sleigh and reindeer. With the addition of some of my favourite spotted grosgrain ribbon and red and gold foiled sentiment and the card was finished.

Cheerful Stamp Pad 72: purple and yellow

Today's Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge 72 is a colour one: purple and yellow. This is being sponsored by Jelly Park who kindly supplied the design team with some digital images to use. Some of us were given halloween witch - click on the link to see this and perhaps buy it.

I don't usually do any crafting for Halloween because it's just not my thing, so I was a bit stumped as to what to do for my design team card for Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge 72. So I used the colours of the challenge and the digital image that had been supplied, coloured with spectrum noirs, with the caption generated by my dymo letratag:

The background cream gold foiled card is Hunkydory and I also used offcuts of HD purple and gold foiled card. The strips of yellow and purple card on the left were made with my gelli plate, acrylic paints and stencils. Stars from stash.

The colours used are good for Color my heart 66:

The Glory of Christmas challenge 19: homemade background

It's time for a new challenge on The Glory of Christmas, so for challenge 19 we're asking to see homemade backgrounds. Please click on the link and join in with our challenge. You might like to make your own background with some embossed card or stamping ... or any other method that produces a homemade background.

For my design card I used an Embossalicious 'seasonal music' embossing folder run through my eBosser using some white pearlescent card and brushed the embossed card with broken china distress ink. The snowman is Mr Snowman, a Spellbinders shapeability, cut twice to produce the background as well as the foreground brushed with the distressing ink. The glittery ribbon is some that I've had for quite a while and the Winter Wonderland sentiment is one that has been in a box for ages.

This is also another card for my own CHNC challenge 148: music.

CHNC challenge 148: music

It's beginning to be a serious time for making Christmas cards. Yes, I've been making them throughout the year, but I still need to make more. I expect you do too, so why not join my CHNC challenge 148 - you just have to make a music related card - either include some music paper or base the card on a particular piece of music.

For my card I used My Paper World Christmas motives stamp with versafine onyx black with Kaisercraft turtle dove papers, including the one that the image was stamped on.

12 days of Christmas

I'm late, I'm late for a very important date ... Apologies to Sue P who chose the '12 days of Christmas' for this fortnight's CCC challenge and to all the other girls. I should have posted this Sunday, but things got in the way.

When I was thinking what to do for this I remembered I had a 'partridge in a pear tree' stamp somewhere, which I was going to use. But when I was looking for something else I found some Hunkydory card and elements that were perfect for this challenge - 'A partridge in a pear tree' from their Stylish Season collection.

The card split nicely into two, with the first three items from the song on the first one and the last three on the second one. I will have the other days to use on future cards.
