Salt: God with us

For today's Salt challenge, Pauline chose 'God with us' as the subject - you can read what she wrote here.

My card uses BG figgy papers, a PM nativity stamp coloured with copics, ribbons, metal swirls and flowers - and in the centre of the flower is one of the lovely Prima silver sequin centres that I got as part of my prize from Quixotic.

I know that it's a busy time of year, but it would be good if you could make time to go over to Salt and see what the rest of the team have done for this challenge - and perhaps join in and share your artwork with us - we'd love to see what you make of this.

Christmas joy

This card is for SAS sketch 43:

It's also for:

Cooking it up with Katie 6: 'use a brad (the snowflake one in the middle of the glittered flowers), use something in 3's (I used three ribbons, three flowers layered and 3 buttons), use red - BG wassail and eskimo papers and red card base.
Susie's sassy 3: 'buttons and bows'
Hand full of stamps 7: 'basic buttons' - only black or white
Saturday spotlight 10: 'Christmas flowers'
Creatalicious 4: include snowflakes and lots of sparkle/glitter - the brad is a snowflake and the flowers are very glittered
Pile it on 27: 'tinsel town' - glitter
Fiskarettes: 'glitter and glitz'
Everybody art 69: red/green
Crafty catz 11: 'colour challenge - green, red and silver (silver on the flowers)
365 cards day 280: 'kind of like a candy cane' - put red and white stripes somewhere on your card - the ribbon that's tied in a bow is red and white striped
Rosie-dee 59: 'red, green and a bit of bling!
Kelly Jo color chef 32: 'red, green, white or cream'

The 'joy' chipboard is Brenda Pinnick.

Traditional seasons greetings

The colours in this card are for Kelly Jo color chef 32: 'red, green, white or cream, also for Everybody art 69: 'red/green' and Stampavie and more 73: 'red and green'.

There are lots of stars here and, of course, the special one. Both Penny's challenges and Quixotic 6 this week have 'stars' as their theme.

There are flourishes on the Dovecraft paper down the side - Creative Belli 80: 'flourishes'.

Stained glass nativity scene

A very simple card, using this lovely stained glass nativity scene, which uses the colours of 365 cards day 250: 'marvellous Mondrian'.

The background paper is English paper company (I've nearly used up all of this - I'll be sad to see it go).

This is another card for Cupcake 69: 'sing a Christmas carol' - this time 'In the bleak mid-winter'.

Christmas wishes

Brrrrr ... this card is making me feel cold - although it can look lovely when it first snows, I hope we don't get any like this!

Today's challenge on 365 cards is 'DIY sketches' - 'design your own sketch and create a card based on that sketch'. So here is my simple sketch:

The card uses colours for Diva stamper 17 and also has enough white, I hope, to link for Divine dollies colour challenge: 'the dollies are all dressed in white'.

It's also another for Lots to do 49: 'snow' (plenty of the white stuff on this card!) and 'let it snow' is the theme on today's Simon says challenge.

It's another one for One powerful hour 'wishes' , also Cafe mojo 'wishes for the holidays!!' (it's so sad that CM is closing soon) and another for Saturday surprise 'winter wonderland'.

Appropriate also for Cupcake 69: 'sing a Christmas carol' - 'See amid the winter snow' and another for PaperPlay 44: Christmas without red or green.

Background papers are once again BG.

Winter angel

Once again I've used the little Dovecraft picture with an angel, this time with some BG background paper and a simple sentiment.

It's for:

Flutter by Wednesday
87: 'winter' - with a butterfly, fairy or angel
My time to craft 69: 'Christmas foliage' - a second one for this, this time there is foliage on the background as well as in the picture
SPCC color combo 27: brocade blue, kraft, bashful blue
PaperPlay 44: 'Christmas without red or green' (only a little bit of green here - hope that will be excused)

On the wings of love

'On the wings of love' is the topic for Mixed Media Monday this week - so these angel wings are appropriate. There's also foliage on this picture, which fits My time to craft 69: 'Christmas foliage'.

And One powerful hour has 'wishes' as the theme this time and Cafe mojo's challenge this week is 'wishes for the holidays!!'

Joy to the world

Another simple card, with Dovecraft paper ackground and a manger scene image.

This is good for:

Cupcake 69: 'sing a Christmas carol' - Joy to the world, the Lord is come!
All that scraps: ' anything Christmas

Bright pink snowflakes

I've had these pieces of bright pink card since last year, not quite knowing what cards to make with them - the big snowflake pattern continues round to the back of the card (forgot to take a photo of the back and the cards are now in the post).

The Dovecraft sentiments are in the form of a shaker with silvery glitter. You can see the shaker element more clearly on the first card than the econd. The snowflakes are foiled and glittered and really stand out irl - in fact the whole card is very bright pink.

I can't remember where I got the little trees from (I think they were with a magazine) - they seemed just right for these cards. They were very simple and quick to make.

They fit these challenges:

Pile it on 27: 'tinsel town' - glitter
Creatalicious 4 'make something for Christmas - include snowflakes and lots of sparkle/glitter'
Incy wincy 21: 'snowflakes'
Kaboodle 19 'snowflakes'
Lots to do 49: 'snow'
Tuesday taggers: 'oh Christmas tree'
All that scraps: ' anything Christmas'
PaperPlay 44: 'Christmas without red or green'
Cupcake 69: 'sing a Christmas carol' - Oh Christmas tree (not really a carol, but it is a Christmas song)
Saturday surprise: 'winter wonderland'
Crafty calendar 3: 'winter with option of sparkle and bling'
Diva coffee break 156: colour challenge: melon mambo (pink), whisper white, basic gray, Bermuda bay (there is a little of this blue on the trees and on the sentiment on the first card
Stamp, scrap and doodle 18: 'colour inspiration' (a picture is given)
Gingham girl's WOW 15: 'fulgent - dazzlingly bright'

Postie's brought some lovely goodies again

Postie's just been and brought me some goodies!

Having won a prize for November with Quixotic, I had a lovely time a couple of days ago choosing how to spend my £20 in their shop - the goodies arrived this morning - thank you, Quixotic:

And, if that wasn't enough, I had a RAK package in the post from a dear crafting friend on CBC - a wrapped present to keep for Christmas and something I can use now - thank you, Annmarie:

And now I really must get on with clearing up a bit and sorting more Christmas cards (some have been addressed and sitting here for days and others still need to be done).

Sepia shepherds

On DCM this week, Lynda chose the theme: 'say it in sepia'. The papers are K & Co, the stamped image is Penny Black 'shepherds', stamped withh marvy heritage timeless sepia and watercoloured lightly with the sepia ink from the pad. The sheep were coloured with Sakura white glaze pen which was then water brushed over.

Friday's 365 challenge (day 279) was: 'a little wordy' - cover the background of your card with words.

Oh dear, what a prize wally I am - I've just remembered that the DCM card should be a 'thank you' one - oh well, it's another Christmas card done!

Another red and purple Christmas card

The friend who asked me to make the previous card, asked me to also make this one, supplying me with the photo.

Yet again, I thought that I'd go with the purple and red theme, using the same background purple matt foil card and music vellum that I used for the previous card, this time using a giant purple snowflake instead of the chipboard swirl and some more of the poinsettias courteous of one of the BF secret santas.

This is good for these challenges:

365 cards day 235: 'Wacky color Wednesday' - red, purple, brown (the wall behind the group and the background of the sentiment)
Saturday spotlight 10: 'Christmas flowers'
Sketchy colors (Norway) 1: 'color: purple/lilac'
Allsorts 30: purple
Kaboodle 19: 'snowflakes'
Sophisticat 13: 'snowflakes and sparkle'
Design Dollies elements challenge: 'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow - snowflakes'
Creatalicious 4:'include snowflakes and lots of sparkle'
2 red bananas: 'Christmas/winter card'
Pollycraft: 29 'Ria's wonderful Christmas time'
Creative card crew 39: 'Christmas'
Spoon full of sugar 80: 'non-traditional Christmas colours' (I know that red is traditional, but purple isn't)
All that scraps: 'anything Christmas'
Stampavie and more 72: 'Christmas'
Crafty Calendar 3: 'winter sparkle'
My time to craft 68: 'winter pals!'

Christmas flowers and flourish

I was asked by a friend to make this card, using a photo that she gave me, which I scanned. As these carol singers were dressed in deep purple - and a red hat - I decided to use that colour scheme - I know that it's unusual for Christmas, but it just seemed to go with the photo.

The background is a matt satin finish foil, such a beautiful rich purple, a bit of a pity to cover it with the music vellum, but that seemed to fit the theme of the card. For the red colour, I used two of the poinsettias that I received with one of my BF secret santa packages (read about it here). The flourish with snowflakes is a chipboard piece from Tando Creative (feast your eyes on the wonderful items on their blog), which was included in the Bubbly Funk October kit. It started off as naked chipboard - I coloured it with a purple Copic, Sakura metallic silver on the outer parts of the snowflakes and Sakura white glaze pen for the inner parts of the snowflakes. I then topped it all with glossy accents (as usual, you can see from the bottom picture that I was a little impatient for the GA to dry because you can just see a cloudy bit. I added the little sparkly snowflake with the silver gem (also part of the October kit) and added a few other silver gems, including the centres of the snowflakes.

This fits a few challenges:

Pile it on 26: flowers and flourishes
365 cards day 272: 'crossing the line' - let elements hang over the edge on at least tree sides
Saturday spotlight 10: 'Christmas flowers'
Sketchy colors (Norway) 1: 'color: purple/lilac'
Allsorts 30: purple
Kaboodle 19: 'snowflakes'
Sophisticat 13: 'snowflakes and sparkle'
Design Dollies elements challenge: 'Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow - snowflakes'
Creatalicious 4:'include snowflakes and lots of sparkle'
2 red bananas: 'Christmas/winter card'
Pollycraft: 29 'Ria's wonderful Christmas time'
Creative card crew 39: 'Christmas'
Spoon full of sugar 80: 'non-traditional Christmas colours' (I know that red is traditional, but purple isn't)
All that scraps: 'anything Christmas'
Stampavie and more 72: 'Christmas'
Crafty Calendar 3: 'winter sparkle'
My time to craft 68: 'winter pals!'
Artful inkables: 'chipboard'
Creative Belli 79: 'chipboard'

Red, green and gold

'Traditional colours of red, green and gold' is the theme on Stampin' for the weekend 27: 'Christmas time, misletoe and wine', so this card is good for that - the surrounds of the sentiment and picture are gold, although not easy to see here, as are some the parts of the picture. Papers are BG.

It's also another for Color throwdown 71: 'olive, red, brown/cream, pink', also for Tellen's place 3: 'pink and red' (both are in the picture - not a very usual combination).

This is also good for Alphabet 'H is for house'.

Noel

This is a very simple card - the Noel is actually silver, which is good for Crafty Catz 11 colour challenge: 'green, red and silver'.

This is another one for Corrosive 40: 'green and red ... let's get ready for Christmas' and Cupcake 68: 'red and green', also for Incy wincy 20: 'red and green'. Challenge 2 on Tellen's place is also 'red and green'.

Saturday Spotlight 9: 'hats on'
Creative craft 4: 'waiting for Santa'
Wednesday stamper: 'Santa Claus'

Colour throwdown 71: 'olive, red, brown/cream'

Paper cutz 20: 'digital or hand stamped Christmas image'
All that scraps: 'anything Christmas'

Although the papers don't look very Christmasy, they are, in fact, all BG Figgy Pudding.

I just love that labrador stamp - it reminds me so much of John's former guide dog, Josey - some of my visitors might remember her - she is well and enjoying life with her new family.

Sweet and sassy 16

A friend asked me to make a card for her to give to a 16 year old. Once before I made a card with a feather and she particularly liked it, so I made this one using a bright pink feather.

I thought I would make an easel card (my second one so far) - they seem to be one of the 'in' things atm, although I also see on the blogs that 'step' and 'side step' cards are 'in' as well!

Anyway, back to this card - which I must say made a change from making Christmas cards - the front papers are DCWV and the ones for the base and inner 'triangle' are BG euphoria.

I made the card to meet the requirements of the commission, but it so happens that it meets these challenges:

Project Tuesday: 'easel card'
Ildi Co 6: 'black and bright'
Pink elephant 43: 'colour me wonderful' - use your favourite colouring medium - copics to colour the girl stamped image
Gingham Girl's word of the week 15: 'fulgent' - dazzlingly bright
Little red wagon 5: 'heavy metal' - the charm shoes are metal
Quixotic 5: 'be charming' - the metal charm shoes, used as a 'stopper' for the front of the card
Simon says: 'so charming'
Cute card Thursday 89: 'swirly girly' - it's definitely 'girly' and there are black PM sparkly swirls
Tellen's place 1: 'embellishments' - late for this, only just found it
Frosted designs: 'scallop' - around the sentiment
Stamp something: 'glitzy somethings' - the shoes are very glitzy and there's a stamped image (the girl)
Kraftin' Kimmie 8: 'touchy feely' - completely different textures of the feather and the metal charm shoes
The crafty pad 48: 'a triangle' - at lease one triangle or that shape card - you can see the triangle when the card is side view

Edit: Jane asked what the image is - it's a download from Charmed Cards & Crafts: 'girls about town' set.
