Snowflake angel

For this card I've used one of my favourite Christmas stamps 'snowflake angel' by Inkadinkado inked with versamark and heat embossed with silver detail embossing powder. The card on the right side is an offcut punched with the mini 8 snowflake punch.

From our house to yours ...

... this is the sentiment on this card, for which I've used two Christmas offcuts, a recycled mirror card door from a card received, a piece of gold glittered ribbon and a Craftwork cards sentiment:

Over the past few days (and more to come) I've been showing cards that include recycled elements - I'm still sorting out my stuff and trying not to put things away that I can use now ... although I admit it's getting a bit boring really. I've got out my H2Os after seeing Sheena Douglass on Create & Craft and also my Radiant rain colour concentrates in the hope that I can do something soon other than use up  my bits and pieces, but meanwhile:

As usual with mirror card I had to take the photo at an angle to avoid glare:

Just to prove that it's mirror card!:

And so you can see what the sentiment says:

Patchwork pal

Four or five years ago I bought a Patchwork Pals kit from QVC, used a bit of it, put it away, out if came again a couple of years ago ... and the rest had been in a box left alone until yesterday. While I was having my sort out (which must continue later today) I opened up the box and thought that I ought to use some of these supplies, so here is my card with the little cheeky chappy just about to through a snowball:

And here is his back view on the inside:

Anyone for cocoa?

Part of my strategy in sorting my craft stuff at the moment is to actually use some of the bits and pieces that tend to be put back in a box and then neglected. Having used a couple of chipboard shapes from Poundland on the previous card, I decided it would be stupid to put this one away, so I've used it with a couple of design papers from my Christmas offcuts box, the left hand one was free with a magazine. The right hand one was punched with a mini 8 snowflake punch.

Neglected embossing folders

It's a while since I've used any of my embossing folders (and I do actually have a few ... or more than a few - lol!) So I got out a snowflake folder (think it's docrafts, not sure) and embossed an offcut of linen finish lilac card which I then brushed with stormy sky distress ink (although it doesn't show up as much here as irl). The chipboard shapes were bought from Poundland long ago and were on my workspace to be used instead of putting back into a box. The glittery ribbon is actually purple, although it doesn't look so here. I used a stardream sparkly card blank.

Getting diverted ...

... I'm going through some of my craft stuff to have a sort out (seems to be something I do quite often) and came across more and more bits that I saved 'just in case' - some has gone in the recycling bin, but some have ended up on cards that I've made as I go along ... so the sorting is a slow process that is interrupted with the cardmaking.

This is one that I made with some background paper by Kaisercraft that was free with a magazine. Everything else was taken from a card that mum received a couple of years ago.

While I had the Kaisercraft free papers out I used the snippet left from the previous card along with another paper from the pad for the background of this next card, using two squares that had come with a Kanban kit long ago - a few toppers like this were lurking near the old cards and I thought it was about time I used some of them. The greetings are from Anna Griffin:

As well as the two squares I used on the previous card, there was a longer version featuring the three wise men which I mounted on to some background paper that had long been neglected, but which matched some of the colour of the image, and mounted on a cream DL card. I tried to get a picture without reflection from the flash, but still caught some on the edge - oh well!:

I had very little input into the first and third card, so I am only entering the second one into these challenges:

My cards are clean and simple, using recycled pictures from Christmas cards received - all mounted on to offcuts of gold mirror card, with some peel off sticks and glitter strips added. The sentiments on the middle one say: Peace Joy Hope.

Third card for CHNC challenge 108

This is my third card for CHNC challenge 108: recycle or use something free.

The third sponsor of CHNC challenge 108 is Cedar Chest Designs - please click on the link to find out more about them and also follow the link to my challenge and, hopefully, join in and be in with a chance of winning a prize.

Cedar Chest Designs kindly supplied me with the 'O little town' digital image that I've used in this card. The background striped paper is an offcut from long ago from a Gorjuss Christmas kit. The silver mirror with the charcoal glittered berries and the piece of  sparkly black card across the top were from one of my Christmas crackers (the same one that the leaves came from that were used on my first card for CHNC challenge 108). I coloured the image with alcohol pens and mounted on to a snippet of Hunkydory white and silver card.

This card was based on the sketch for Critter 147:

The foiled card with the glittered berries is silver mirror (although it looks gold here) and the sentiment strip across the bottom is 'Just for you at Christmas' - very difficult to get a photo because of the reflection of mirror card.

Second card for CHNC challenge 108

This is my second card for CHNC challenge 108: recycle or use something free.

There are three sponsors for CHNC challenge 108 - please click on the link to get more info and, hopefully, join in and be in with a chance of winning a prize.

One of the sponsors this week is Crafts 4 eternity who kindly supplied me with the SnowRag image of the snowman - they also supplied me with some digital vintage tag images, so I used an empty one and added the text to it. Instead of colouring in the buttons on the snowman's coat I decided to use some little real ones. The background papers cut into squares were from free ones that came with a magazine well before Christmas and the image is mounted on to an offcut of blue mirror card. The snowman was coloured with promarkers and flexmarkers.

The card was based on Maria's sketch for Sunday sketch & stamp 139:

CHNC challenge 108: recycle or use something free

Today's CHNC challenge 108 is to use something recycled or something that was free. This is my first card for that.

The lovely bauble on my card was part of a card with an M & S gift card - far too good to waste. The leaves at the top of the bauble were retrieved from a Christmas cracker - I have to confess that I bought the crackers with the thought of being able to recycle bits of them (more to come!) - and the good thing is that they were half price.

The silver and blue mirror card panel was from my offcuts box, mounted on to an A5 dark navy blue cardblank.

Winter fun

This little skier and his faithful little friend are having fun in the snow - rather them than me. We had a little snow yesterday, but it soon went - hoping we won't get any more.

Anyway, for this card the central panel was rescued from a card received and mounted on to an offcut piece of mirror card. The Merry Christmas background card is an offcut of some Hunkydory card used earlier.

Sparkly tree ...

... this sparkly tree was too good to discard - a friend received a card with it on and passed it on to me. It didn't need me to do much to it other than put some silver glittered strips down the sides, mounted on to a black card blank and I added the 'with love' circle because there was a bit of a smudge mark on the card!

This is a quick card made with an offcut of background paper (My craft studio) and a picture cut from a card received which was then matted on to a snippet piece of gold mirror card and then a piece of deep brown card that was recycled from a frame for a wedding photo. Unfortunately, the picture doesn't look too good hear - it's been printed on a textured card.

Fantasy revisited

Before Christmas I made some stamped shaped cards for a group of crafting friends - in the end I had one spare that I'd made a mess of inside, so I decided to cut and mount it on to a card blank of purple majestic card. The stamped tree is Penny Black fantasy inked with versamark and heat embossed with detail gold powder.

Two from one

Earlier today I decided I needed to tidy my craft stuff and on the work surface I had some Christmas cards that we'd received and quite a few offcuts and bits and pieces - it seemed silly to put them away, so I've had a session making a few cards - you can't really call it crafting, it's more like 'stick the bits together', but it's a few more cards done. Mind you, my craft space is just as cluttered as when I started because I've added to the mess!

These two cards were made from one recycled one cut in two pieces and mounted on to blue card blanks, adding some silver glittered strips and peel off sentiments:

Pink inspiration

I went over to Order of the opus gluei a while ago to see what the challenge is for the next fortnight and found that it's a pink colour challenge. So this is for Order of the opus gluei 148.

I love tinkering around on the computer with pictures, so, when I saw what Gini had to say and saw her pink example, I was inspired to go back to a favourite My Craft Studio CD 'Tinkering with steampunk' to create something pink. Thank you, Gini, for the inspiration that nudged me to get on with something I love doing, but often forget about.

The project was also inspired by the photo given  for Digitally sweet 18:

Having added items and playing around with various elements, colours, fades, etc I came up with this picture which I can then use on a card:

Doily birthday

For this card I've followed the sketch for The craft's meow for January:

I have a subscription for Papercraft Inspirations monthly magazine and I keep meaning to cancel it - only got it in the first place because there were some useful goodies if you joined - anyway, every month that it arrives I think 'Oh well, perhaps I'll keep getting it' ... today it arrived and there was a free pack of doilies - three different sizes, so I thought it wouldn't be extravagant to use all three sizes on a card. The lovely patchwork background paper had been in my offcuts box for some time - can't remember where it originally came from. It is a shiny paper (you can't tell that here). The felt flowers have been in a pack on my work surface for a couple of weeks or more and just seemed to be crying out to be used with the patchwork paper. The epoxy hearts and sentiment from stash.

CHNC challenge 107: Rudolph is resting

Those of you who follow my blog and my CHNC challenges might remember that the challenge for last week was 'Santa has gone into hiding' - well, this week CHNC challenge 107 is 'Rudolph is resting' - make any Christmas card that doesn't feature Rudolph or any other reindeer.

CHNC challenge has three sponsors, one of which is Bugaboo Stamps who kindly supplied an image called 'snow friends window' which I printed out and coloured with copics. The background paper on my A5 card is Basic Grey Dasher 'flannel shirt' - I used two offcuts that have been in my Christmas box for some time - I didn't have a piece that would cover the whole card front, but it was good that I knew I was going to use ribbons across the card so they filled the gap between the two offcuts. The paper behind the image is another from my offcuts box, this time from Docrafts.

My card is based on Freshly made sketches 68:
