Third card for CCAYR March challenge

This is my third design card for CCAYR March challenge, which is to make a Christmas themed step card. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team. The challenge is being sponsored by Le Crystelle. It would be lovely if you could join in with your Christmas step cards.

Once again, I've used a ready scored step card from Kanban adding card and elements from Hunkydory kits, including the decoupaged picture of The Little Gift Shop.

Second step card for CCAYR March challenge

This is my second design card for CCAYR March challenge, which is to make a Christmas themed step card. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team. The challenge is being sponsored by Le Crystelle. It would be lovely if you could join in with your Christmas step cards.

This was made with a 'ready to decorate' step card from Red Hot Bed. Other supplies are Kanban and Hunkydory with circle sentiments from Craftwork cards.

In real life it's easier to see the picture at the back than it is on these photos.

Christmas cards all year round March challenge: step cards

This is my first design card for CCAYR March challenge: step cards. I cheated a bit because I was running short on time, so I used a ready made Kanban step card on to which I matted some offcuts of Graphic 45 Christmas past collection 'carol of the bells' - I'm sad that these were the last pieces of this (except for a tiny bit that probably won't get used now). The picture of Santa relaxing with his tipple and mince pie is an old Kanban one and the strip across the bottom and the sentiment are Hunkydory.

Completely Christmas challenge 1: anything goes

Yay! The day has arrived -  the start of the new Completely Christmas challenge blog with challenge 1: anything goes. I was delighted with Suzy invited me to be part of the design team - I don't have to tell regular visitors to my blog how much I like Christmas crafting.

So today sees the start of Completely Christmas challenge 1: anything goes - please click on the link and see the wonderful creations of the rest of the team and visit their blogs to give them some encouragement. The challenge is being sponsored by Lacy Sunshine.

For my card I used the 'Christmas boo' image kindly supplied by Lacy Sunshine, digitally colouring the image in Microsoft Paint. The background paper is DCWV and I used some Bazzill 'perfectly pleated' stitched strip down the side. I raise the cut out image with 3D foam and added crystal ice stickles to her hat. The buttons were from Hobbycraft and the sentiment was from Craftwork cards (in real life it is silver with red script, but the photo doesn't show this to advantage).

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 18: make it masculine

This is my design card for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 18: make it masculine, which is being sponsored by Sparkle n Sprinkle who kindly supplied the 'only fish saying' that I've used for my design card. Please click on the challenge link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and it would be lovely if you could join in with the challenge.

I printed out the digi and filled in the fish with stickles to match the Creative Expressions 3D glittered fish stickers that I added to the card. The background was created with a Sheena Douglass embossing folder ran through the eBosser and brushed with peacock feathers distress ink, as were the edges of the image card. I used a piece of stitched ribbon to join two pieces of embossed card together, mounting everything on to a bright blue card blank.

CHNC challenge 166: ribbon, twine, fibre etc

This is my card for today's CHNC challenge 166: ribbon, twine, fibre etc. I hope you will click on the link and see the lovely card that my guest has made and please dig out that ribbon, twine etc and join in. Can you believe it's already March now ... two months of the year gone!

For my card I followed the sketch given for Sketch n stash 133 - I certainly used up some old stash, particularly the fibres which I have had for years - I have two boxes of them and they hardly ever get used nowadays.

I used 8715 Merry Christmas that was kindly supplied by one of the sponsors of my challenge, QKR Stampede, colouring with spectrum noir pens, tearing round the edges and colouring with one of the pens.
The white background was embssed using an Embossalicious folder with my eBosser. on to which I matted a piece of Hunkydory card with white spots and gold foiling. I added a few punched snowflakes using snippets of gold mirror card and, of course, added the three strands of fibres around the edge.

CHNC challenge extra for March

Today is 1 March and that means that two months of this year have gone already. There are lots of 'crafty' crafters who are getting ahead with their Christmas cards to ease the panic that tends to happen towards the end of the year. There were lots of entries for last month's challenge and I hope that many will join in with CHNC challenge extra for March, where 'anything goes' as long as it's Christmas. Please click on the link and see the gorgeous crafting of the rest of the team, including my guest for the month. If you've never joined in before, don't be shy ... please come and join us and have the reward of starting to build up a stock of Christmas cards ahead of time.

The challenges on CHNC challenge extra blog are always sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps - the randomly chosen prize winner gets to choose $21 worth of digital images. Bugaboo kindly supplied images for the team to use and for my card I've used 'AKV Nativity Mary Joseph' which I coloured digitally using Microsoft Paint. I mounted the image on to a piece of gold mirror card and then on to some Christmas script paper that I've had for ages that originally came with a magazine. This was then mounted on to gold mirror before matting on to the dark brown card blank. The card was finished off with the glitter ribbon and the sentiment square.

I based the card on the sketch given for Digi sketch 'glitter it' challenge:

The sweet pea stampers easel card challenge

This is my design card for today's Sweet pea stamper's easel card challenge. Please click on the link to see the wonderful crafting of the rest of the team and to join in and link your creation.

After a few failed attempts, I managed to make this easel card. Having used some cream card I had in my stash, I realised that the promarkers alcohol ink was bleeding and colours were running into one another, so I started again with printing the Concetta Kilmer's 'owl hearts' Sweet Pea digital image on to  my usual Ryman's brilliant white coated card which is a pleasure to use with alcohol pens. So I used a combination of promarkers and flexmarkers to colour. I then stuck the print out on to an easel that already had the scalloped edge, which meant that I had to cut round the image card that I'd stuck on - no easy job ... and I began to wonder why I was bothering. But with some light sanding and brushing with antique linen distress ink I was pleased with the result and carried on to finish the card with a iece of Doolicraft mocha paper for the base with a strip of cream card with some Tim Holtz tissue tape raised with 3D form for the stopper. I printed the sentiment and brushed the card with antique linen, sticking it on with 3D foam. The fabric flowers were from Poundland  (only a few left now, which is a shame - and they don't stock them any more).

This is my design card for the second week for the Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge 80 - please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team. The challenge is being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps. Please click here to see the challenge week 1 where you can add your black and white creations to the linky.

The image is 'Santa's reindeer globe' by our sponsor, Bugaboo Stamps. The background card is from an old Kanban kit - unfortunately, silver foiling is always hard to show on a photo - there is also some silver on the die cut bauble that doesn't show here. The black, white and silver pieces of ribbon are scraps that were waiting to be used somewhere.

Teenage birthday card

One of my great nephews is sixteen today and this is the card I sent him.

I  used some papers that I haven't used for a long time (mainly because I can never think quite how to use them) - they seemed appropriate for the card I wanted to mak - Artic Frog Sunday Brench . I also used some sentiment paper for the middle panel which was from an Art & Craft Bloc (I bought lots of these years ago and don't think I'd manage to use them up even if I used a piece on every card for the next few years - not sure why I bought so many at the time, but I suppose we all do that at times!).

The new element is a bicycle paper clip, so it clipped niftily behind the panel before being glued down.  I bought  a pack of these in different colours from Tiger who have recently opened a shop in Bromley - they sell all sorts of things - it's a good place for a look around.

Inspired by this Pinterest picture for Pinspirational challenge 95, which this week is 'anything goes:

Commissioned 30th birthday card

I was asked to make a 30th birthday card for a daughter - not girly or with flowers, but to include some musical notes and butterflies with the wording given, which I generated on computer and printed on to card that has Happy Birthday repeatedly printed - very feint, so quite hard to see here.

I used an 8 x 8 embossalicious embossing folder with my eBosser, using some pearlescent card that was a lilac colour, brushing this with dusty concord and chipped sapphire distress inks. The 3D acetate butterflies are some that came in a pack with a recently bought magazine.

I hope I've hit the right note with this card (no pun intended) - I know it is simple, but I couldn't make it fussy and girly and also it needs to be posted abroad so the request was to keep thickness and weight to a minimum.

The torn piece of acetate had been prepared on the computer and printed and run through my xyron so that no glue showed through.

This is a Valentine collage that I made for the day, but didn't get it done in time to turn it into a printed card for John (norty girl!!). It was created digitally using the heart shape from Shape collage with lots of photos that I had on the PC. The background is the one that I used for my card for the Sweet Pea Stampers Valentine/love challenge - I showed the card here.

CHNC challenge 165: use a sentiment

It's time for CHNC challenge 165: use a sentiment - and amazing to think that by the time this challenge ends, two months of the year will have passed already, so it really is worth thinking about making Christmas cards now rather than wait for panic to set in later in the year.

So this is my card for CHNC challenge 165 - please join in if you can - it's an 'easy peasy' challenge this time - just add a sentiment! I've used a Di's Digi Download called 'to both of you', coloured  digitally in Microsoft Paint and mounted on to an offcut of Hunkydory card. The base card has been covered with a piece of My Mind's Eye Christmas glitter paper that was left over from a project long ago. It is much more glittery in real life than shown on here. And the snow lady's hat and cuff have been blinged up with crystal ice stickles. The red strip with gold foiling is a left over piece from a Hunkydory kit and the flowers from Hobbycraft.

This is my design card for today's Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 17: whimsical/fantasy ... Please click on the link to see the wonderful crafting of the rest of the team and to join in the challenge.

I've used the 'fairy and butterfly' image kindly supplied by the sponsor, the Stamping Boutique, stamping over it with an oval inked with stazon vibrant violet. I then tore round a perspex oval and edged with some of the vibrant violet. The background of the card blank was randomly stamped with a Dawn Bibbly swirls stamp inked with the stazon vibrant violet, before adding the strips of gingham ribbon (I had to cheat with the purple one because it wasn't long enough, so the gap is hidden beneath the Craftime sentiment.
