CHNC challenge 220: use some black

I posted as usual on my Christmas challenge blog this morning, starting this week with CHNC challenge 220: use some black.

I had wanted to make a card using silhouettes, but I couldn't find the image I wanted to use so I showed two old cards rather than have nothing to show.

I have since for the Stitchy Bear Santa sleigh silhouette (thanks to one of the sponsors). I created the background by brushing Spectrum AquaTint inks over a piece of card.I used Stitchy Bear's 'winter trees, printing it on to acetate. I was really silly because I should have also included the Santa sleigh silhouette (supplied by one of the sponsors) at the same time, but didn't. So I had to get the right position for it, printing a few times on paper and then run the acetate through again. If I did this again I would reverse the Santa sleigh image so that I could have the smooth side of the acetate uppermost when putting it on to the background rather than the rough side that the print is on - a learning curve! Just the addition of the four black brads and the card was completed. This is an 8 x 8 card. I'm also going to show this on the mid month inspiration for CHNC challenge extra for March.

Birthday card for a West Ham supporter

This is the card that I made for one of my stepsons - he is a West Ham supporter (I don't expect he'll be too happy today as I see that they were beaten by Arsenal ... but I have to smile and cheer a bit, even though I'm not a keen football supporter, but my dad was a great Arsenal supporter).

I found a clipart bubbles background (I'm forever blowing bubbles - their theme song) and played around with it before digitally adding the two sentiment panels, changing the colours to try and get as close as possible to West Ham's - printed out and added the West Ham die cut topper.

This is an A5 card:

These cards for are Completely Christmas 54: anything goes with a twist ... add a robin. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

I made two very similar cards and couldn't choose between them, so I'm showing both featuring Stitchy Bear Kaz Kraftz Little Siannie Christmas Colour Stamp and robin clipart images I found on the net.

These are both 're-makes' of previous cards, adding the digital images on to the pictures.

The first original card was like this, using the Delicious Doodles 'snowy postbox' digital image. Papers are Wild Rose Studio traditional Christmas and other bits and bobs:

and this is the version with the added digital images:

The second original card was like this, using the Delicious Doodles 'snowy postbox' digital image. Papers are Wild Rose Studio traditional Christmas, the ribbon is from Handy Hippo and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

This is my design card for the second week of the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 106: in the kitchen. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in the challenge here.

For my card I used the Stitchy Bear ala mode image, kindly supplied by the sponsor. I coloured with spectrum noir pens, cut round the image and mounted on to torn pieces of Dovecraft Cupcake Boutique papers, then on to the background paper. The sentiments were generated on my Dymo letratag.

The Glory of Christmas challenge 54: mouse

This is my design team card for the Glory of Christmas challenge 54: mouse. Please click on the link to see the designs of the rest of the team and join in our Christmas mouse challenge.

I used the lovely House Mouse Monica Mudpie Christmas Tale stamp coloured with Chameleon pens.  I thought it would make a change to make a twisted easel card using pink papers. The paper used for the base is from the Fantastic Foils Festive Frolics pad and the papers with diamonds are offcuts left over from some magazine papers. Snippet of potted ribbon, corrugated strip and Craftime flowers from stash.

CHNC challenge 219: button it up

This is my card for CHNC challenge 219: button it up ... use at least one button on your Christmas design. I used the Cute as a Button 'Are we done yet' digital image (I won this from Cute as a Button, one of this week's sponsors) colouring this with chameleon pens, using a quickie glue pen and Art Institute fine glitter on the snow and chimney smoke. The torn people of red and white snowflake paper is an offcut.

The background was created running a piece of DCWV textured card with a Sheena Douglass snowflake embossing folder through my eBosser, sanding slightly and rubbing with pebeo silver gilding wax, which is more visible on the right of the photo than the left because of the angle of the camera. And, of course, I've added three felt buttons from Poundland.

A gift shaped card

This is my design card for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 70: anything goes with a twist ... a shaped card. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and we would love to see your entries for the challenge.

I used Deedee's digis 'gifts' from Happy Brr-day (Deedee's are the sponsors for the challenge) printing it large, mounting on to a large card blank and cutting round the upper part of the 'gift' I would have liked to have cut the bottom of the gift too, but the card couldn't have stood on the point, so I decided to colour the bottom corners with a spectrum pen instead.

I used Aurora Wings Christmas owl (kindly donated by the sponsor) coloured with chameleon pens, using a piece of Fantastic Foils as background, an offcut of torn snowflakes paper and a die card panel of mirror card using a Nellie Snellen die. The sentiment panel is an odd one I found in my Christmas box.

Commissioned ruby wedding card

I was asked to make a ruby wedding card. For the background I ran some DCWV white core card through the eBosser using a Sheena Douglass embossing folder and then sanded it to reveal the white. The strip of Anniversary sentiment vellum is an offcut from long ago, put over an offcut of white paper with hearts. The  glittered heart was recycled from a card received. Flowers were from Hobbycraft. The sentiment was generated on computer and printed on to another snippet of the paper with hearts.

I secured the vellum beneath the glittered heart, but so that I didn't have to stick the rest down I stuck the ends into the inside of the card, covering these up with another piece of DCWV card and then creating the panel ready for writing a message. The Inca sentiment stamp was inked with Adirondack raisin.

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper March challenge

March has come round very quickly and here we are on the first day ready for a new challenge: Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper March challenge. Please click on the link to find out what this is all about, get out your hoarded patterned paper or perhaps that new pack that you're eager to cut into and join in the challenge.

This prize will be won by the randomly chosen winner:

Back in time paper bloc by Joy crafts
36 sheets, size 15 x 15 cm
4 x 9 designs

For my design card I kept to the theme of 'time' using Docrafts Chronology papers, Papermania Urban Stamp Chronology curiosities and two of Sheena Douglass' textures stamps from sets from Crafter's Companion.  As I almost ran out of time to make anything for this challenge, I thought using these papers and stamps would be good.

The bottom left corner has been stamped with one of Sheena's texture stamps, as well as the FOREVER. The main stamped image is the Papermania Urban Stamp. For all of the stamping I used memento cottage ivy.
