For once it seems to have been a long week since last Wednesday because I've been really poorly and in a lot of pain which has made the days and nights seem endless. When I wrote up last week's WOYWW post, I said that I had pain in my face and jaw. Well, having been to the dentist and had xrays to establish whether there was anything wrong (and there wasn't), I had an appointment to go back to the doctor to try and get to the bottom of why I felt so awful and in so much pain. During the day last Wednesday I began to get lumps and bumps on my chin and by the time I went to see the doctor there was a rash up to my eye and beyond. The doctor then realised that I had shingles. It is the most painful condition and something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy (not that I've got any - lol!).
Anyway, the purpose of this post is for today's WOYWW 163 to show what's on my desk. I've been trying to do a bit of crafting to try and take my mind off the pain, but haven't felt like doing anything that requires much thought or creativity, so I resorted to using a kit that just happened to come in the post a few days ago - My Craft Studio everyday essentials.
You can see the little piles of the different sections of the kit sorted ready to make some more cards.
You can also see three Stampotique Christmas stamps that I got with a voucher I won from Crazy 4 challenges a while ago.
And this is my desk to the right of where I sit - you can see quite a few cards that I've made with the MCS kit - some have been blogged, but some need to have bits finished off - so I feel I've achieved something this week even if I haven't felt up to much.
I started off last week with visiting other WOYWWers, but, unfortunately, became too poorly to do so for the rest of the week. Thanks to everyone who visited me and left comments and for all the get well wishes.

Hi Hazel. I'm sorry you are feeling so poorly. I remember when my mum had shingles. It's nasty!! I do hope it begins to improve soon.

ReplyDeleteWait! What good is a worst enemy if you can't wish things upon them, like shingles? I've heard they are awful so I hope you can be rid of them soon.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy card kits too. They are the best when you want to craft but the creative muse is waning. That kit looks like a lot of fun and like you get a whole bunch of cards out of it.
Oh Hazel! As I was reading your post, before you got to the diagnosis, I said to myself, it's shingles. So sorry you have to endure that!! Awful!!
ReplyDeleteTry to be crafty to get your mind off the pain!!

am so sorry to hear you have shingles a horrible condition to have I do hope you got it in time to have that viral drug, but that must be within the first 72 hours to be effective. I had shingles years ago and would not wish it on my worst enemy. My thoughts are with you, please take it easy. I would love to send you hug but it would probably hurt. Cyber one anyway.

Oh Hazel, I'm so sorry to hear you've had shingles. I had it in 2007 at the beginning of my M.E. when I went down with a whole series of ghastly viral infections - I had it on my back, and it was quite obvious (at least to my hubby lol!) what it was, and I got on Acyclovir really quickly so avoided the worst of the symptoms. It was still pretty awful, though. I hope you are feeling tons better now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit to my blog, and I hope you enjoyed my shop! Tonight I've uploaded my Cricut cutting machine which I need to sell now I'm up and running with my Cougar.
Happy WOYWW,

More hugs, Di xx
Oh dear, I was thinking "shingles" before you even said it. That's really awful. Never had them but know a few people who have had it. Hope you got onto the wonder drugs in time. And, hopefully your cards can be a good distraction. Thanks for visiting and for your kind words.

ReplyDeleteAww Hazel, I’m sorry to hear you’re unwell. There can’t be much worse than Shingles, not that I’ve ever had it but I did have Chicken Pox when I was in my late 40’s and that was bad enough, so I feel for you hun. Hope you’re on the mend soon.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it’s not keeping you from yore craft room though and you’ve some nice cards in the making I can see.
Happy Crafting!

You poor thing, my friend had shingles so I know how painful it is. I really hope you get over this quickly, get plenty of rest and do a little craft to keep your spirits up. Thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteVon #51
Not had shingles, thank goodness, but I do know they are very painful so I really feel for you. I'm looking after an invalid myself today, Mr B has a tummy bug (you would think he'd just had a leg chopped off from the fuss) so it's lots of tea and a bit of sympathy - he's still in bed so I can do what I want today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting earlier - much appreciated.

ReplyDeleteHazel, your workspace is so nice! Thank you for visiting my worktable this week, even with shingles! I have to tell you, I had Shingles about seven years ago. The same thing happened to me, where it started with jaw pain on the left side of my face. I had just had my checkup at the dentist, so I couldn't figure out what it was, and then the bumps appeared on my chin and in my scalp, way into my hairline. The doctor took one look at me and knew what it was! The pain is so awful, and I truly feel for you dearest, but please know you will get over it very soon! Take care and rest. Sandy at #152
