More lily of the valley for Easter

Another card using some of those lovely Martha Stewart lily of the valley. The backing is a piece of card rescued from a pack of prima flowers (too good to waste). The background paper is My Mind's Eye. Just the addition of a peel off silver cross, some stitched ribbon and the Easter sentiment and the card was done.

A CAS card using the front of a ready scalloped card blank (I'm a thrifty crafter so I quite often split a card like this so that I can get two cards out of the one card blank). The flowers are a mixture of some from Create and Craft and some Prima and the sentiment is an old one from stash.

Candlelight carol

This is my second card for my CHNC challenge 118, which is to base your Christmas card on a carol or song. Once again, I've used paper from the Authentique 'peaceful' collection, stamping directly on to it and colouring with Spectrum Noir. The stamp is one that was kindly supplied by Flonz craft, one of the sponsors of CHNC challenge 118. I also printed the carol - another one that I guess isn't well known - directly on to the paper, with the addition of some glittered green ribbon and some My Mind's Eye 'all is bright' buttons.

This is the carol:
How do you capture the wind on the water?
How do you count all the stars in the sky?

How can you measure the love of a mother,
Or how can you write down a baby's first cry?

Candlelight, angel light, firelight and starglow
Shine on his cradle till breaking of dawn.
Gloria, Gloria in excelsis deo!
Angels are singing the Christ Child is born.

Have a holly, jolly Christmas

Yes, I know it's Easter, not Christmas, so first of all I wish everyone a HAPPY EASTER.

This is my first card for my CHNC challenge 118 that starts today - I'm asking for cards based on a Christmas carol or song.

I wanted to use the 'Christmas holly' that was kindly supplied by Cedar Chest Designs, on of the sponsors of CHNC challenge 118 - I thought of some popular carols and then found this old carol that is probably not well known. It's quite hard to see on the picture, so I think it's worth showing it here:

Have a holly, jolly Christmas,
It's the best time of the year.
I don't know if there'll be snow,
But have a cup of cheer.
Have a holly, jolly Christmas
And when you walk down the street
Say hello to friends you know
And everyone your meet.

I printed the image directly on to a piece of Authentique paper from the 'peaceful collection' and coloured with Spectrum noir (I haven't deserted my copics and promarkers, but have added the SNs to my collection), also printing the carol direct to paper. The piece of sparkly ribbon has been in my Christmas box for some time and needed using (another piece used on my next card) and the gems are My Mind's Eye 'all is bright', part of a package that I won recently.

Lily of the valley for Easter

This is a simple Easter card using a piece of textured card stock that I have had for ages - no idea where it came from, but thought it made a good background for this CAS card, with just the addition of the sentiment  - I like the way the colour picks up the splodges across the middle of the card - and the Martha Stewart layered lily of the valley.

This is for:

Another card for Good Friday

This is another simple Easter card that focuses on the cross. The base card is white linen texture over which I stuck a piece of patterned acetate that I've had for ages (Dawn Bibby designs silver dragonflies), on to which I layered some nestie die cuts using some offcuts of Craftwork cards tutti frutti cards and papers, stamping the Funstamps 'lily cross' image.

Good Friday

It's a bit late in the day, but I couldn't let Good Friday go by without showing an Easter card depicting the cross - central to Easter.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. - 1 John 4:10

This is a simple card using a ready scalloped card blank with Craftwork cards tutti frutti papers, with nestie labels diecuts, on to which I stamped the Hobby Arts 'dove and cross' and the Easter sentiment.

Another card for Moxie fab world Tuesday trigger: pastel pretties - using the colours:

Tutti frutti Easter

I've called this 'tutti frutti Easter' because the background paper is from a Craftwork cards 'tutti frutti' pack that I bought quite some years ago. The resin flowers are some from stash. The image is a very simple Funstamps one inked with memento tuxedo black, as well as the sentiment. This was stamped on to a piece of card that has a very lightly patterned look to it (hard to see here).

Lily of the valley for Easter

I made loads of Easter cards for my charity sales (and for our own use) and they've all gone - so, that's a good result. It means that I took lots of pictures, but didn't get round to blogging them, which is why there are so many Easter cards appearing now!

Another one with the scalloped edge with a background from an offcut, a piece of card taken from a pack of Prima flower spacers, some Martha Steward lily of the valley stickers (they are raised, but that doesn't show here), a peel off cross and a stamped sentiment.

Getting 'krafty' for Christmas

It was Clare's turn to choose the theme for this fortnight's CCC card and she asked us to use 'kraft'. I've used a kraft card blank on to which I've added offcuts from my Christmas box, including some flocked papers from Anna Griffin - stamping the Personal impressions 'peace on earth' on to one piece with memento rich cocoa, mounting on to gold mirror and then on to the other piece of textured flocked paper. The chipboard snowflakes were free with a magazine some time ago - I was tempted to paint or ink them, but think they fit in with the rest of the card left as they are.

Having been very late for the last CCC challenge I was determined to get this one done on time, especially as I won't have any time tomorrow as we have company coming and I'll need to prepare lunch.

Roll up, roll up ... very late ...

Almost two weeks ago Sue W's challenge for the Christmas Card Club was 'Roll up, roll up, snowballs and glitter'. On this occasion, because of other commitments, I just wasn't able to make a card at the right time, so here is my very late effort, although I'm not happy with it.

I chose a stardream sparkly, glittery card blank in a rich deep blue, stampin the top with an Indigo Blu stamp from the 'Here comes Santa' collection - bought this set a while ago and this is the first time any of it has seen ink. I inked with versamark and heat embossed with silver super sparkle powder. I did the same with the Stampavie Rachel Anne Miller snowman stamp and a selection of Wild Rose Studio snowflakes stamps. The sentiment stamp is from a Forever Friends collection. I thought the snowman should at least have some white so I used a Sakura pen, but am not happy with the grainy result, but, hey ho, 'tis done now.

The silver embossed areas are a lot more glittery in real life.

CHNC challenge 117: 3 of something

For my CHNC challenge 117 I'm asking to see '3 of something' on your Christmas cards - 3 of anything. I thought I'd make a start with probably the most well know 'three' of the Christmas story: the three wise men - although actually scripture doesn't say how many wise men there were - we assume there were three because there were three gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

I've used the '3 wise men' image kindly supplied by Floppy Latte Designs, one of the three sponsors for this week's challenge.

The card is based on Catherine's sketch for Sunday sketch & stamp 148:

The top two papers are Teresa Collins Christmas Home and the middle one is an offcut from a Gorjuss kit bought long ago. The strip down the side was taken from the cover of the Christmas Home pad (don't waste  anything - lol!).

As usual, the white doesn't look consistently white (perhaps I'll get a better photo in the morning):

Purple Easter

Another simple Easter card, distressing the fancy edges and some of the rest of the card by brushing with dusty concord distress ink and also using this to stamp the Hobby arts 'dove and cross' and also one of my favourite Penny Black stamps 'sparklers'.

Because of being busy with my charity sales, I have got behind with what's happening on craft forums etc so have just realised that for TTC013-3 on Crafts by Carolyn Kath has chosen the theme of 'purple'. I just love crafting with purple.
