Crafting musketeers March challenge 11: art deco

This is my design card for team B's inspiration for Crafting Musketeers art deco challenge. You can join in the challenge here - we would love to see your art deco crafting. This challenge is being sponsored by Debbi Moore and I have used a background paper download and the images. The image on the front has been printed three times and decoupaged. The gold mirror card matting looks so much better in real life, as does the gold sentiment circle.

I made this for my stepson's girl friend and I think she liked it.

This is an A5 landscape card used as an upright tent card. And I used another image inside the card and wrote on the upper inside.

Glory of Christmas challenge 29: cocoa, hot drink

When I knew what challenge 29 was going to be for the Glory of Christmas, I remembered that ages ago I had made a tag using Meljen's 'Christmas cocoa' image. I hunted through all of my Christmas stash ... and I couldn't find it, but I had the image saved on computer, so I printed it, cut round it, mounted on to an offcut of spotty Hunkydory card and then matted on to another piece of Hunkydory card with the lamp post image, adding lots of silver snowflakes and the sentiment.

Please click here to see the crafting of the rest of the team and to join in our challenge - we'd love to see you there.

While I was looking for the Hunkydory card with the lamp post, something suddenly felt out from between two other pieces of card (I had looked right through that box earlier) and it was, of course, the tag that I had made ages ago, so I decided I would make a second design card for the Glory of Christmas challenge 29. This time the background card  is an old Kanban offcut. I used a couple of scraps of Hunkydory and papermania papers to form the border near the bottom. The background of the tag had been stamped randomly with snowflakes using stazon cactus green and the torn edges of the image had been brushed with chalk. The clumps of berries are from a Kaisercraft turtle dove pack of various elements.

These are also for (mainly the second card):

Christmas angels

It was Christine's turn to choose the theme for the Christmas Card Club challenge for this fortnight and she said she would like to see wings. So I've used two lovely glittered stickers raised up with 3D foam mounted on to a piece of Hunkydory card. The ribbon with bow is one that I rescued from someone - it might have been a box of chocolates, I can't remember, but it is definitely recycled. The sentiment is one that got left over from an old Kanban kit.

The photo has made the right hand side of the card look lighter than it actually is, but it's the best I could do.

Mother's day card for Hyacinth

I was asked to make a card for a mum with the name Hyacinth (love that), so I found a copyright free picture of hyacinths on the internet and played around a bit digitally till I got the effect I wanted and added the text. I then printed stuck the pieces of ribbon down the side, matted and layered on to a piece of lilac/blue mirror card and than a piece of pearlescent card before matting on to the very light lilac card blank.

This is loosely (I hope not too loosely) based on the sketch for Cardabilities 95 (flipping it horizontally):

Sadly, the mirror card looks darker here than it is irl.

More inspiration for CCAYR mid month

This is my second design card for mid month design team inspiration on CCAYR. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in with the challenge here - please make a step card and, of course, it must be for Christmas.

It's made with another Kanban card blank, using scrap pieces of  Echo Park winter wishe and strips of red Hunkydory card on the sides and bottom. The picture on the inner panel is one from a set I bought ages OK - still have loads of them. This is shiny and glittery although that doesn't show here.

Looking down on the card, you can see the inner panel better:

Christmas cards all year round mid month inspiration

As we are already now midway through March (it doesn't seem possible, does it?!) it's time for some mid month design team inspiration on CCAYR. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in with the challenge here - please make a step card and, of course, it must be for Christmas.

This is my design card for CCAYR mid month inspiration, using a Kanban card blank, using some scraps of Hunkydory card on the sides and across the bottom. The frame around the opening is an old Kanban one that I've had for ages, as is the scalloped edged picture which is encased in an acetate dome and then mounted on the inner panel of the card.

Really going green for CHNC challenge 168

For my second card for CHNC challenge 168 'going green ... a little or a lot' I used 'snowy Christmas tree' kindly supplied by Eureka (another sponsor), changing it from black and white to green digitally and printing on to a piece of Authentiuque peaceful collection paper. I used a couple of sheets of toning paper from the collection and some scrap strips together with a couple of sentiments.

CHNC challenge 168: going green ... a little or a lot

Saturday has come round very quickly again and it's time for CHNC challenge 168: going green ... a little or a lot. It's St Patrick's Day on Monday, so I thought it would be good to 'go green' this week.

For my first card for CHNC challenge 168 I used 'Rudolph letter blank'kindly supplied by one of the sponsors, Melonheadz. For this card I haven't used very much green, but it is there. I cut out the outer part of the digital image and matted on to a piece of Kaisercraft paper, adding the gold foiled sentiment from Craftwork Cards. It's a simple card, but it actually took me ages to do all the cutting out by hand.

Reindeer silhouette for Completely Christmas challenge 3

It's time for an other 'anything goes' challenge (as long as it's Christmas, of course) on Completely Christmas. Please click the link and see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in the Christmas fun  (and, of course, you can enter anything Christmas for my own CHNC challenge extra for March at the same time). Today's challenge is being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps.

For my design card I've used the lovely 'reindeer silhouette' kindly supplied by our sponsor, putting the image digitally on to a piece of Bugaboo's 'blue frosty words 2' digital paper (I changed this digitally to black and white) and then on to a background created with Bugaboo's 'blue snowflakes' digital paper (again changing it to black and white). I created the sentiment digitally and printed everything out, matting on to a black card blank and adding a few Express Yourself glittered snowflakes.

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 20: emboss it

This is for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 20: emboss it. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in with your embossed designs. This challenge is being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps who kindly supplied the 'Penny paisley 4' image that I used, colouring it digitally in Microsoft Paint. This was mounted on to an offcut of red mirror card.

The embossed card on the left was an offcut of cream pearlescent paper that had been run through my eBosser with an embossalicious folder and bushed with spiced marmalade distress ink. The piece on the right was another offcut, this time a piece of cream card glittered with gold, using another embossalicious folder and brushing the raised embossing with fired brick distress ink.

The sentiment panel is one that I've had for ages and the silk flowers originally came from Create and Craft. I used two small snippets of ribbon that had been saved for 'a rainy day', raising the image panel with foam tape.

CHNC challenge extra for March mid month inspiration

This is my card for the mid month inspiration for CHNC challenge extra for March. You can see the delightful crafting of the rest of the team here and take part in the challenge here.

I used Bugaboo 'stocking line' - Bugaboo Stamps are always sponsors for CHNC challenge extra and give $21 worth of digital stamps to the randomly chosen winner. I coloured the image digitally in Microsoft Paint. The papers are from magazine freebies.

This is also another card for my own Craftyhazelnut's Patter Paper March challenge - if you haven't yet discovered this challenge blog, please click on the link and join in the fun - use up some of that hoarded patterned paper that most of us seem to have.

Sweet pea stampers Easter challenge

This is my design card for the Sweet pea stampers Easter challenge. Please click on the link and see the gorgeous crafting of the rest of the team and join in the challenge.

I used the lovely Bunny Bouquet digital image by Karen Middleton, colour with spectrum noir pens. The background paper and the large mat of the die cuts are offcuts from Raspberry Road paper used earlier for another card. The die cuts were made with Spellbinders marvellous squares. More inspiration for the Cheerful stamp pad 'anything goes' challenge

This is my design card for the second week of the 'anything goes' challenge on the Cheerful stamp pad. Please click here to see the lovely inspirational crafting of the rest of the team and click here to go to last week's post to link your entries.

I matted this beautiful Easter image from Gecko Galz (challenge sponsor) on to an offcut of striped paper. I covered the card blank with a piece of Raspberry Road Designs paper and simply added two golden yellow flowers that were left from a pack that I bought years ago from Early Learning Centre (how I wish they had continued to stock them).

I'm sharing this on my Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper March challenge - if you haven't yet discovered this challenge blog, please visit and join in the fun - and you could be the randomly chosen prize winner of two packs of 6 x 6 papers.

Completely Christmas challenge 2

The week has gone by very quickly and it's already time for the second 'anything goes' challenge on Completely Christmas. It was great to see so many people joining in for the first challenge. Please click on the link and see what the rest of the team have made and join in with the challenge - anything goes, as long as it's Christmas (and, of course, you can enter anything Christmas for my own CHNC challenge extra for March at the same time).

Completely Christmas 2 is being sponsored by The Stamping Boutique and for my design card I have used 'holly berry with ribbon' that they kindly supplied. This image had a white background, so I played around digitally with transparency features until I was able to layer the image on to part of a fairy image that I had found free on the internet, originally using it for the purple creation you can see here, changing the colours and adding the text before printing out and layering on to a card blank.

I coloured the holly berry image with a mix of copics and spectrum noirs and then added glossy accents here and there (and  waited impatiently for the GA to dry!).

I've used at least three of the colours for 52 Christmas card throwdown:

This card is for a guest designer slot on Crafting by designs, where it is an 'anything goes' challenge for the month of March, sponsored by Beccy's Place,

I used the coloured 'snowman with bird' image by Beccy Muir of Beccy's Place. The card blank is an A5 landscape one with a piece cut off the front with the mounted image overlapping. All papers are DCWV. The flowers and buttons were from Hobbycraft. This is my design card for today's first week of the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 81: anything goes, which is being sponsored by Gecko Galz. Please click on the challenge link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and to enter our challenge - everyone loves 'anything goes'.

I was so impressed with the images of our sponsor, Gecko Galz, that I couldn't resist buying some. I initially found the script background that was a freebie, but, when I looked further on the Etsy site, I found a wonderful 'sew and sew collage sheet' from which I used the picture on the right and also a 'retro style collage sheet' from which I took the pattern picture at the top. I changed all the images digitally to black, grey and white, printed out and matted on to a black card blank and added three pearl rosettes from Poundland.

Feature a robin (and blog anniversary)

Before I start this post I've just realised that I've just gone past by blog anniversary - I started this blog seven years ago yesterday! Since then I've been blessed to have 486 followers and I've made 5056 posts! Since starting sitemeter on 29 April 2007 (didn't figure it out till then!) I've had 220,487 visits to my blog. I just want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who visits and leaves me comments - it is so appreciated. Very soon, I'll be back with some celebratory candy - watch this space!

It was Margaret's turn to choose the theme for the Christmas Card Club's fortnightly challenge for today and she asked us to feature a robin. I received a lovely card for Christmas that had a cute little robin with a fuzzy wuzzy feelie red breast and I couldn't help but recycle him on his card. I hope that whoever eventually gets this card will love him as much as I do.

Spotty paper is DCWV - not wide enough as it was only 6 x 4, so I joined two pieces and put some tartan washi tape over the join. Flowers are from Hobbycraft.

As there is twine and washi tape on this card I'm also showing it on my own CHNC challenge 166 (why not go and have a look and join in?!).

The glory of Christmas 28: ski or sleigh

This is my design card for the Glory of Christmas challenge 28: ski or sleigh.  I used AKV snowman ski 2 by Bugaboo Stamps - I love the simplicity of this and decided that colouring his hat and carrot nose was enough. The blue card with white spots is a scrap left over from some Hunkydory card used earlier in the week. The snowdrifts were created with torn offcuts of card that had been embossed with an Embossalicious folder and the eBosser. The sentiment was generated on computer and printed.
