Inspirational post for Buckwell' Craft Challenge for March: flowers

It's my turn today to post my inspirational design for our March challenge: Flowers

I used A Lil Digi Heaven 'Abigail' image, colouring with chameleon pens. I found some lovely pink and lilac striped paper near the bottom of one of my boxes (no idea where it came from), using it as the background, overlaid with a piece of torn patterned pink vellum. I torn around the image using a perspex template and brushed the edges with Victorian velvet distress ink. Ribbons and flowers are from Buckwell Craft Supplies and the sentiment is a Creata textured rub on.

Kraft and yellow notebooks

These notebooks have a black spine and a kraft cover. I used pieces of K & Co paper cut on my Scan n Cut to put on the fronts, adding some burlap flowers and butterfly,  other flowers from Poundland and Hobbycraft and the little corrugated piece of card with trowel and fork.

Hope you have a knock-out birthday

Quite some time ago I was asked to make a birthday card for a boxing fan. The background paper is My Mind's Eye 'all things chalk' paper5 pad and all the boxing elements are by Jolyn. (Reminder to self: I must use more of the MME chalk papers because they are wonderful - and double sided too).

The sentiment was computer generated and printed.

New home card

This is a card I made for a friend who has just moved. The strip down the side is an offcut of some magazine paper, the sentiment is printed on a snippet of card and then on to another snippet. The little row of houses with the gems was rescued from a previous card that I made. The houses are actually buttons - I cut the loops off the backs.

I don't know what happened to my original draft for this design card, but it seems to have disappeared into cyberspace! Anyway, this is my card for today's Fan-tastic Tuesday 77: anything goes with a twist ... make it square. It was no hardship for me to make a square card because that's the kind I make most of the time. I can't remember where I got the main background from (I should have taken note), but I simply jiggled around with the Dazzling Ace Designs baby picture until I got it into one of the film frames.

Crafting musketeers challenge 23

The challenge prize is a £10 voucher from Crafty Ribbons:

Crafty Ribbons kindly provided ribbons for us to use and for my design card I've used the lovely organza Swiss dot ribbon. I decided to make the card clean and simple and used one of my favourite stamps that I haven't used for a long time, the 'gracious lady' by Hero Arts, colouring with a red Chameleon pen. The sentiment is a Dovecraft stamp and the lovely pearls were free with a magazine, I think (can't remember where they came from, but found them lurking in my gems box and thought it was about time they were used).

As ever, it was difficult to get a photo that shows the white as white!!

For mum

This is the card I made for Mother's Day. I went over to see mum this afternoon - shame that John wasn't feeling that well, so stayed at home.

For the background of the card I used a Sheena Douglass embossing folder with my eBosser with a piece of lavender DCWV card which I then distressed with victorian velvet ink.I used a scalloped edged 8 x 8 card blank. Nearly everything else on the card is from Hunkydory kits, apart from the chipboard sentiment at the top and the paper one at the bottom.

CCAYR mid-month inspiration

I used a music embossing folder with a piece of DCWV card and gently sanded this to lighten the embossing a bit. I used a favourite Christmas Penny Black stamp, caroling penguins, colouring with spectrum noir pens and die cutting with a Nellie Snellen die, including the surrounding red mirror card.

CHNC challenge 220: use some black

I posted as usual on my Christmas challenge blog this morning, starting this week with CHNC challenge 220: use some black.

I had wanted to make a card using silhouettes, but I couldn't find the image I wanted to use so I showed two old cards rather than have nothing to show.

I have since for the Stitchy Bear Santa sleigh silhouette (thanks to one of the sponsors). I created the background by brushing Spectrum AquaTint inks over a piece of card.I used Stitchy Bear's 'winter trees, printing it on to acetate. I was really silly because I should have also included the Santa sleigh silhouette (supplied by one of the sponsors) at the same time, but didn't. So I had to get the right position for it, printing a few times on paper and then run the acetate through again. If I did this again I would reverse the Santa sleigh image so that I could have the smooth side of the acetate uppermost when putting it on to the background rather than the rough side that the print is on - a learning curve! Just the addition of the four black brads and the card was completed. This is an 8 x 8 card. I'm also going to show this on the mid month inspiration for CHNC challenge extra for March.

Birthday card for a West Ham supporter

This is the card that I made for one of my stepsons - he is a West Ham supporter (I don't expect he'll be too happy today as I see that they were beaten by Arsenal ... but I have to smile and cheer a bit, even though I'm not a keen football supporter, but my dad was a great Arsenal supporter).

I found a clipart bubbles background (I'm forever blowing bubbles - their theme song) and played around with it before digitally adding the two sentiment panels, changing the colours to try and get as close as possible to West Ham's - printed out and added the West Ham die cut topper.

I made two very similar cards and couldn't choose between them, so I'm showing both featuring Stitchy Bear Kaz Kraftz Little Siannie Christmas Colour Stamp and robin clipart images I found on the net.

These are both 're-makes' of previous cards, adding the digital images on to the pictures.

I used Bugaboo Stamps 'Christmas word - snow' (sponsors of the challenge), with just a hint of colouring with spectrum noir pens. The image and surrounding panel of Centura Pearl snow white 'hint of silver' card were die cut using X cut rectangular parenthesis dies.The background is a piece of the Centura card run through the eBosser using the Die'sire 'star of wonder' embossing folder. Strips of organza glittered ribbon from Hobbycraft.
