Christmas card with a recipe

It's time for the fortnightly Christmas card club challenge and it was Zoe's turn to set the theme and she gave us a recipe: a button, three brads, ribbon and one other accessory.

I've used a couple of offcuts from my Christmas scraps box, splitting the green paper either side of the red and gold foiled card because it wasn't big enough to cover the card blank and filled the gap perfectly with the glittered ribbon. The picture is from the LOTV art pad set 18 winter wonderland. The button tops a rosette (which is my 'other accessory' that Zoe asked for) and I've used three brads.

CHNC challenge 177: festive flowers and/or foliage

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 177: festive flowers and/or foliage - I invite you to click on the link and join in the challenge. I've used a stamp from a set by Cupids clear stamps similar to one of the sets that will be given to one of the randomly chosen winners. I inked the stamp with memento cottage ivy and randomly stamped off the corner edges of the ivory card blank. I then added some red faux stitching around the edges. The thoughts and prayers Hampton Art stamp was inked with the memento cottage ivy. The poinsettia-type flower is an odd one that has been in my Christmas stash for ages (it's about time it should be used).

Crafting musketeers mid-month

I'm in Crafting musketeers team B so it's time today to show my design card for the 'anything but a square' challenge. You can see the lovely designs of the rest of the team here and see the original post of team A for challenge 13 here and take part in the challenge.

For my design card I used a shoe blank that I got from Poundland - a bargain - 8 of these cards with purple envelopes, nearly 7" x 7", so the shoes are a good size.

I added glitter strips and gems and used some Kanban silver foiling with stickers that I've had for ages and never attempted to use. Around the toe area I have glued and added polar white flowersoft that came from our sponsor, Katy Sue. There is a super prize to be won from Katy Sue and also some mystery prizes for the top 3 - details here.

I'd love to be able to wear shoes like these. When I was younger I used to wear very high heels, but not any more.

Another design for CCAYR mid-month

This is my second design card for the mid-month inspiration for CCAYR May challenge, which is all about Santa. Please click on the link to see the lovely creations of the rest of the team and join in the challenge here.

I've used an offcut of Hunkydory card for the backgroound with a panel of K & Co paper. and a sentiment from stash. The image is 'Christmas Freddie' kindly supplied by Chi Chi Memories, sponsors of CCAYR May challenge. I coloured this with spectrum noir pens and cut out with a scalloped circle nestie die, brushing the edges with pink distress ink (although this doesn't really show here). the sentiment and heart are from stash.

Our anniversary

Our anniversary isn't till 25 May ... but for once I've made a card ahead of time. I actually have quite a list of other cards to make, but thought I wouldn't leave this till the last minute (as I usually do) - we'll actually be away for the anniversary, so even more reason to get ahead.

The background was created with my gelli plate with acrylic paint and a stencil on to a piece of pink paper with fine white dots. The roses are  from a sheet of Basic Grey 'surgared' embellishment stickers, the bears, hearts and Anniversary sentiment are Forever Friends and the quote is from a set of sentiments I purchased a while ago. I'm a bit worried that it looks a bit too girly ... I hope John likes it.

For my design card I used a pale green pearlescent card blank on to which I matted some torn sentiment paper, spotted ribbon and rub on lace. The image is Lunagirl's 'daisies etc' (Lunagirl is the sponsor of the challenge) which I matted on to a piece of textured card.

Wardrobe box card

This is a box card that I made using a card blank from Creata. The wardrobe inside the box was rescued from a Marks & Spencer gift card - it is 3D so it fills the 'box' part of the card - this will have to be boxed up to send because it won't go flat into an envelope. I coloured the dress and wardrobe with spectrum noir pens (they were originally an ivory shade. I've used gold mirror card embossed using the Embossalicious floral vine embossing folder run through my eBosser. The foiled sentiment panel is one I've had for some time and the flowers are Craftime.

With sympathy

Sadly having to make too many of these cards recently.

I stamped off the edge all round repeatedly with a little floral stamp that I've had since I started cardmaking - one of those that is handy again and again - inked with memento rich cocoa and I brushed the edges very lightly with distress ink, as well as doing this to the image.

They say that the camera never lies, but somehow it has made the lace look arched rather than straight, although in reality it was fine - can't take another picture because the card has gone.

Glory of Christmas challenge 33

For the Glory of Christmas 33 the theme is 'anything goes' as long as it's Christmas. We would love to see your Christmas creations there (and, no, it isn't too early to start making your Christmas cards - you'll be glad when it gets nearer to the end of the year).

Here is my design card - it is very similar to the one I did for yesterday's Completely Christmas 11 because I already had another of the images, Di's Digi Stamps 'Holly's Christmas tree coloured', printed and had the striped paper from Forever Friends 'Christmas tale'left over so thought I would tear and use it for this card.

The sentiment washi tape was from Tiger and the silk ribbon flower from Create and Craft.

Making a scene on a jigsaw for mum

Mum has Alzheimer's and is in a care home. She and other ladies like doing jigsaws, but they need to be small and not too complicated so that they don't give up. I've been looking for some time for suitable jigsaws for them, but most of the smaller jigsaws are for children. I thought it would be good to give mum some jigsaws that have a picture that isn't childish.

I came across some plain white jigsaws in Tiger (there's always something different to find in that store). Including the frame the jigsaw is about 8" x 8" - perfect for putting together on a lap tray.

I used distress inks for the background and stamped using a variety of Adirondack dye inks. I used a little stamp along the bottom - I've had this stamp ever since I started crafting and find it so handy. I also used one f my all time favourite Penny Black stamps - 'sparklers' and also their 'burst of stars'. The rather fuzzy trees were made with a Clarity stamp.

This isn't by any means perfect (it's my first attempt at doing this) - it's a learning curve, but I'll certainly be buying more of them to make for mum and her friends. I can't wait to go and buy some more to experiment with creating different pictures.

I'm sharing this for the following challenges:

CHNC challenge 176: let it shine

Time for another challenge on my CHNC blog and for CHNC challenge 176 I'm wanting you to 'let it shine' on your Christmas creations - interpret as you will ... might be shiny paper/card, gems etc or perhaps stars or a candle ... I'm sure you will have plenty of ideas.

I've gone with the idea of letting a candle shine and have used one of the stamps from a set kindly supplied by one of the sponsors, Flonz craft. The image was stamped with brushed corduroy distress ink and water brushed to create a sepia, vintage look  I then matted the image on to gold pearlescent card and then on to a piece of Anna Griffin flocked paper that I had brushed with the brushed corduroy ink. The background is an offcut of Hunkydory card left over from a previous Christmas creation. The two embossed baubles were cut from an embossing created with a lovely Embossalicious embossing folder, which were then brushed with the distress ink.

Sweet pea stampers Kraft challenge

It's time for a new challenge on the Sweet pea stampers blog and the theme is 'kraft'. Please click on the link to see the beautiful crafting of the rest of the design team and join in with our challenge.

For my design card I used a piece of Happy Birthday wrapping paper (have had this for ages and used  very little of it) matting this on to two matching colours of Creata mirror card and then on to a kraft card blank.

! printed the peachy pink fairy ©ching chou kuik digi and coloured with spectrum noir pens, adding some Art Institute lilac glitter. The image was cut with one of the Spellbinders 'marvellous' squares. Then flowers and brads from stash were added.

Cheerful stamp pad challenge 85: use embossing powder - second week

This is the second week of the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 85: use embossing powder - please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and click here to join in the challenge, which is being sponsored by Stamp on it.

I used one of my favourite stamps 'gracious lady' by Hero Arts, inking with memento tuxedo black and colouring with spectrum noir alcohol pens. I then swiped the whole stamped image with versamark and using clear embossing powder I triple embossed it. It is much glossier than it looks in the photos. I matted the image on to a feather and then on to the spotted paper to go inside the 'box' piece of the card. The box folds flat for postage as seen in the third picture (paperclips just to hold it for the photo). All papers were from my offcuts box. The box card blank was from Creata.

I was commissioned to make this card for a friend to give to his wife.
