WOYWW 135

With Christmas and not being well, I haven't taken part in WOYWW for a while, so thought it was about time I did. However, this morning my workspace was clear, so nothing really to show, having showed all my cards yesterday and before. This afternoon I've been having a bit of a sort out - I always seem to be doing this, so I'm not sure why I still find things that I think should have hit the bin a long while ago!

I took boxes out of part of my big cupboard so that I could get to the envelopes for the long slim cards that I made yesterday - you can read about it here. In that blogpost I referred to a load of envies that I bought years ago to house small tall thin cards (A5 folded in half lengthwise). Now, when I said 'loads' you might well have thought I meant about a hundred, but, no, there are lots more.

The picture shows 20 envies at the front (the number I need for the cards I made and showed yesterday) and on the shelf behind you can see the two boxes of envies that reveal just how many I've actually got. I really don't think I will ever make that many of this kind of card. Why did I buy them?! (and I confess that once upon a time there were actually more, but I sold some on eBay - perhaps I ought to do that again).

So I thought I would share this confession with WOYWWers:

Anyone want any envelopes?!

By the way, if you don't know what WOYWW is then follow the link to Julia's Stamping Ground and join in.

There is celebration candy over on my CHNC blog
You've got to be in it to win it, so why not hop on over there and get linking?!

  1. Hi Hazel, my, but that is a lot of envelopes of that particular size - I don't think I've made many cards that size either. However, I do have rather too many manilla envelopes, A4 size ... used them often when I was a freelancer ... part of my children's inheritance:)) Of to look at CHNC. All the best, Elizabeth x #60

  3. I have only just recently rid my house of 2000 envelopes! They ended up on the Guy Fawkes bonfire last November, haha! :) Happy WOYWW and thanks for the visit & comment. :)

  4. Your last posts about these flippin' envelopes have made me giggle, Hazel....I could send you some to add to the collection, if you like...haa!
I recently pulled some out, thinking I'd give them to my son for his business, and all the seals were stuck together, LOL.

  5. I think we all have collections like that, Hazel. If it is not envelopes, it is something else that you wonder why on earth you bought it. But, have you noticed that as soon as you get rid of all of those mistake, the next week you find you need some urgently? DVD and CD cases were my problem - they take up more room than envelopes. Now I have to go out and buy some every so often when I need to do DVD's like the wedding ones. We can't win. Hope you are feeling better and you have a good 2012. Maggie #73

  7. Oh bless you, just a couple of packs then! I am sure I have lots of things that I shall never used but I haven't aspired to that quantity yet. Happy New Year.

  8. On the other hand.. I never have any envelopes!
Can they be used for die cutting? layering and stacking?!

  9. I am smiling because I have stashes of stuff like that, just like everyone else. Maybe you could make an envelop book from the left overs? Thanks for visiting my blog today. I really liked this idea of WOYWW!!

  10. Even in my tiny NYC apartment I find collections of things or multiples that I've purchased. Yikes, I wonder what is stuck behind the books on my bookshelf. Hmmmm. Thanks for visiting my blog and Happy WOYWW!

  11. I always seem to be short of envelopes - mainly because I make my cards from plain cardstock rather than the card that comes with envelopes and I'm always looking high and low for an envelope to match.
Happy WOYWW and hope you feel better soon.

  12. Can you re-purpose them? Are they thick enough that you can stamp them? Maybe use them for background? I have some business cards that I use the back of for stamping projects.

    Oh, and isn't ebay great!!

  13. I think we are all guilty of buying things and forgetting we do not need them as we already have some. I kept buying boxes of cards in Rymans and it was only when I was tidying up last week I realised that I had something like 8 boxes! Different sizes so I had better get making cards ey!
Thanks for your kind words on your visit. Off to see your earlier post now! Maybe pick up some ideas for some cards! LOL!

  14. Maybe it's time to think 'outside the envelope' and repurpose them for something else. Ummm - pockets in a journal, a filing system for little bits and pieces....

  15. That is a lot of envelopes for sure! I don't have any one particular thing stockpiled but I do have a lot of things that I ordered on-line for specific projects but by the time they get here I forget what the project was, ha ha! I suppose I should write them down!
    Thanks for visiting me!
    Happy 2012!

  18. That is an impressive "collection"!! I think I'd have to craft a mini album with the envelopes and then follow up with one for everyone in the family - that would help you use them up! :) Happy 2012! Tammy #76

  21. Lol Hazel! I've got packs of loo rolls like that! I only buy them when they're on special offer and then I go mad - it's like the Great Wall of China in our box room! I won't need to buy any more for years!

Thanks for visiting my blog and I have every intention of having fun with Sheba once I feel well enough to get my head round her lol!

Happy New Year and happy WOYWW, Shoshi #60

  24. Sorry you have not been well, hope things look up for you in 2012.
Not that many envelopes, I have at least that many so the thing is start doing your "C" cards now, and make them all to fit in those envies. That should take care of a few of them.

  26. Great envy stash you have there. A few years ago I was in Lancaster in January and in the precint were some large black bags that a woman was diving into. They were bags full of cards and envies that a card shop threw away so I grabbed as much as I could carry. I do like recycling. LOL

  27. ok tell you what to do get your stamps out, stamp on the front and add the name and then refile nice and neatly.

Another idea is put the scraps from your papers in and mark the pad on the front.

    Dinner money envelopes for school?

Good luck whatever you do xxx

  29. Oh dear, you got me thinking about envelopes. You know, the ones I have in the big box under my desk, the ones in my card stock drawer, the ones in the box in the cubby hole, then there's the ones in the box in the kitchen cupboard, then there's the.............

  30. This was a really popular size when I had my shop, so much easier to use than a DL card IMO..i too have quite a few remaining though, and I don't often use them, I must try! Your organisation is fantastic though Hazel, at least you know what you've got!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Goodness what a lot of challenges you take part in! And how wonderfully organised you are too.

  32. Oh my, I would get on ebay again, recoup and gain space, you'll be a winner each way!

  37. Wow Hazel, that seem rather a lot of envelopes but then again at the rate you turn out cards, I’ll be surprised they last very long at all.

I hope that you and John had a wonderful Christmas. Thanks for the beautiful card too. Sorry mine wasn’t a handmade one this year. The events of three scary weeks in Germany (full story on my blog) took its toll.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and ……..
    Happy New Year to you.
    Happy Crafting!
