Yesterday I plugged in my new Scan n Cut that had just been delivered and tried out a few basic shapes that are in the memory. This is my first card using something that was cut on the machine. I have to giggle to myself really because the shapes I chose to make are ones that I could have done anyway with nestie labels dies that I've got - lol! But I had to make a start somewhere and this seemed an easy option.
I stamped on to the smallest shape with part of the Penny Black 'letters and flowers' inked with fired brick distress ink and then used the ink to brush the edges of the shapes.
The background of the card is a piece of pearlised embossed paper that was left from a previous card - a large snippet, but a snippet nevertheless, so an opportunity to join playmates at Pixie's snippets playground again. This was also brushed with fired brick distress ink.
I found up a snippet of some gloss card that had been coloured with alcohol inks ages ago - about time it was used! - wrapped around with some lovely organza ribbon (bought a whole big roll of this some time ago when I needed to match up with a wedding card I was making - I think the roll will last forever!) The birthday sentiment was lightly brushed with the distress ink.

I recently purchased a Scan 'n Cut also. I had so many dies, that it's not getting much use yet. I've been leaning toward more clean & simple cards lately. I expect to change that as it gets closer to Christmas. I have already cut a few images using it. To really make use of this machine, I need to quit cold turkey buying dies. I'll be following you to see how you're using yours. This card is beautiful.
