Sympathy card

This is a very simple sympathy card. The card blank is deckle edged - I've stamped the La Blanche flower stamp with memento and coloured with copics. The sentiment is stamped.

Christmas waves a magic wand

I wasn't going to do any crafting today, but couldn't resist making a quick card. As it's my birthday we've had pizza delivered, with garlic bread and potato wedges and we had some wine ... and now I'm full! Just having a bit of a break before settling down to watch Casualty. We were going to go out, but things have been topsy turvy here this week because we're having our bath replaced with a shower unit and there were some unexpected hitches with the work- hoping they will finish it by Monday or Tuesday.

Anyway, back to the card. I chose a quote topper that was part of a QVC kit a couple of years ago - this is for ABC Christmas: Q for quote plus an image (hope the squares count).

The background paper and square motifs in the corners were from a magazine from a Nancy Watts collection.

CHNC challenge 34: Christmas birthday or 'anything goes'

It's time for another challenge on my Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge blog. Today is my birthday, so challenge 34 is a bit different to the norm. I usually ask you to make a Christmas card, but today you have a choice of making a card for a Christmas birthday or an 'anything goes' Christmas card.

We have a lot of family birthdays around the festive season, which means making a lot of birthday cards around Christmas time. So at least I've got one done early - perhaps I'll make one every week so that I don't have to do them all at the busiest time of the year.

For my easel card I've used BG wisteria papers, various flowers, buttons, ribbon and scalloped border. The image is one of my favourite Greetings Farm ones - wild sprouts 'sassy Suzi', coloured with copics.

Black, white and silver romance

I love black and white cards and this week's Just for fun challenge is to combine black and white with silver.

I used a shaped black card blank for I did it: a different shaped card, and for Mami doodles 32. Ithen matted with Kanban Victorian stackables, stamping a Kanban image on the white one. As the silver one was quite a bit bigger than the white I stamped some random PM swirls with black stazon.

As is always the case with silver mirror card it was difficult to get a photo because of the high reflection (shows that the mirror card is good quality), so this is the best I could achieve, but it gives a general idea.

This card would be suitable for a wedding or an anniversary so I'm linking it for:

Graffiti Banksy style

When I saw today's Daring cardmaker's 'inspired by Banksy' challenge I wondered what on earth it was about and what I would do. Pretty quickly I got hooked on looking through Google images. My great nephews are big Simpsons fans, so I thought I would base my card on this image (I will save it for a birthday in February):

The Simpsons picture was found on Google, the wall and hand are clipart from Publisher and the graffiti was generated in Word.

So here is my finished card - I really enjoyed putting this together (it took a few goes to get it right):

Out come the fibres again

For this card I've used the sketch for A la card monkey 69, which also asked for the card to be sympathy or thinking of you:

and I've used the colour combo for ColourQ 98:

This is also good for Crafts and me 48: blues or blue/greens.

Once again I raided my offcuts box, so this is for City crafter 70: scrap happy, and Jules crafty snippet challenge 32.

I haven't used any fibres for ages and ages (I remember a few years ago when they were very popular in cardmaking) - anyway, I got out the box and chose this eyelash lime green one. This is for this week's The paper variety challenge to use threads.

Why is it that the flash photo has made the brown brad (used three different colours deliberately) look more like red? Ah well! The brads are for 4 crafty chicks 51: metal, Sew many challenges 64: 3 or more brads, and also for Digi design house 12 recipe week 1: 3 brads, 2 patterned papers and 1 floss.

The sentiment is a Hobbycraft stamp inked with memento rich cocoa.

Happy Kiss-mas!

A quick clean and simple card this morning, bearing in mind that Bah! humbug 32 'kiss'mas closes at lunchtime today and we're going up to Guy's this morning, so I would miss the deadline if I waited till we got back. And today's CCEE1133 is 'kiss'.

I used up scraps of BG wassail, mainly left from making this card yesterday. The main background paper is the one I used to cut the nestie scalloped circle for yesterday's card - covering it up today with the printed image, which is a Dottie Christmas download, appropriately called Christmas kiss - so this is for City crafter 70: scrap happy, and Jules crafty snippet challenge 32. The sentiment was computer generated.

This is another one for my own CHNC challenge 33: simply Christmas - if you haven't yet discovered my Christmas challenge blog, why not hop over there and take the opportunity to start on your Christmas cards - it makes sense to do so if you haven't yet started them because we'll be into September now before you know it.

Happy birthday, with love

This is for the colour challenge for Creative sketches 43C:

Basic black, poppy parade and basic grey.

I've used items from a redline kit - when I bought this I thought the items were die cut, but they weren't, so I put them away and had forgotten about them, but thought it was about time I used them.

Christmas window

It's also for CCEE 1132: glass - I used the photo for Papercraft Star 58 as inspiration, concentrating on a window frame:
I've used a vintage Santa topper from a kit I bought a few years ago; papers are BG wassail and the scalloped circle was cut with a nestie, a few gems and Craftwork sentiment added.

CAS blues

WOYWW 115

There isn't a lot that's different in my workspace today (in fact, it's quite tidy after yesterday's crafting), so I thought I'd show what's in my immediate space - the stages of the card I've been working on this morning for a special CAS-ual Friday/FTL 153 (I'll be blogging the actual card after this, so I won't show the sketch now, but you'll be able to see it when I show the finished card in the next blog post).

I masked off an area that I wanted to ink with ice blue chalk ink:

I then masked so that I could ink the strip that had previously been masked, this time using stormy sky DI:

This is what the card then looked like:

I then stamped with blue iris chalk ink, using one of my favourite Penny Black stamps 'sparklers' - unfortunately, this didn't quite stamp fully at the top, but I'm leaving it because I think it givess a whimsical look to it (well, that's my story ... and I'm sticking to it - lol!). The little 'for you' sentiment is part of a Stamping Up set.

Another kawaii cupcake card

This card is similar to the previous one, using similar papers and cupcake, this time mounting the cupcake on a scalloped embossed mat cut with a nestie.

Kawaii cupcake

The theme on Daring Cardmakers this week is 'so kawaii'. Originally I was going to use a picture of some kawaii cupcakes I found on the internet, but I thought that was a bit of a cheat, so I decided to adapt a cupake. I was going to stamp one, but remembered that I still have quite a bit left from a Dawn Bibby kit I bought in a moment of weakness (yes, another moment - lol!) so I just doodled a kawaii face on the cupcake and the cherry. The cherry and 'make a wish' papers are matted on to deep cherry foiled card. The scalloped circle with the cupcake is matted on to a Nellie die cut with the foiled card. A couple of Poundland gems finish the card.

There's lots of glitter on the top of the cupcake and on the scalloped edges of the dotted mat.

Wishing you a purr-fect birthday

This is for the sketch for I love Promarkers 78:

And the colours are for Cat's corner 56: brown and pink. Also this week's There's magic in the air Magical Monday challenge is 'pink, white and brown.

I've used a favourite Ladybug Magnum stamp, so I'm also entering this into Ladybug 36: favourite stamp.

I used one of my favourite nesties and distressed with tattered rose DI. The Magnum image was stamped with memento rich cocoa and coloured with Promarkers, also using the blender pen. The flower is recycled from another card.

The papers are all from my scraps box, even the large piece covering the card blank, so this is good for City crafter 70: scrap happy and Jules crafty snippet challenge 32.

Sorry that you can't see the sentiment that well on here - it says: wishing you a purr-fact birthday!

I do like to be beside the seaside

Some time ago I got a Delicious Doodles digital image of beach huts, but this is the first time I've used it. As this is sold by Stitchy Bear, I'm entering this into One stitch at a time 75: anything goes.

I digitally cut out the clouds in the original digi - this is for Bee crafty August 35: cropping & chopping images - and then printed directly on to a 'British beach' paper by Shan Lawrence and litly coloured the doors and roofs of the huts and the grassy patches in the sand. I mounted this on to the cloud paper and added a bit of torn sea at the bottom.
