On the wing

'On the wing' is this month's topic for the twinchies swap on the BF forum. I stamped with memento using Dawn Bibby woodland butterflies and sentiment stamp, masking the smaller butterfly behind the larger. I coloured with a mixture of copics and promarkers and inked the edges with dusty concord DI.

Sorry the photo is poor (will try and replace in better light tomorrow)

This photo isn't much better, but the colours are probably nearer real life:

I'm entering these for the following challenges:

All aboard for steampunk

I was hoping to get something done this week for Order of the opus gluei 101 'get steamy' steampunk challenge (I'd only made something the day before the challenge was announced, but didn't want to cheat and link that). Anyway, today's challenge on Soartful is also steampunk and this is the picture that was given:

So I used this as my base on which to add digi pictures that I'd got saved on computer - changing each one to black and white and/or negative and then fading the edges so that they fitted on to the given frame. This is what it looked like at that stage:

I then superimposed one of my favourite digital pictures of the clock with the railway line over the top of everything else, changing it to negative/black and white and fading to make it semi-transparent. So this is what I finished up with:

Sorry that you can see a bit of pink in places - that's not actually on the digi, it's because those parts are transparent enough to let the blog background show through (nothing I can do about that).

This is also for:

Scrapbook sisters 36: black and white
Altered Alice chapter 4 week 3: time

A bit of a cheat ...

It will be our 20th wedding anniversary on Wednesday and we're celebrating by going to the Hilton at Maidstone (we've booked the suite). Time is running out and I hadn't yet made a card for John (isn't it typical that we tend to leave the 'important' ones till the last minute - well, I tend to, anyway).

I remembered a card I made a couple of years ago that I've never used and never sold. I can remember when I made it thinking it would be a good anniversary card to give to John, but our anniversary had just been and gone at the time, so I just put it in the box. I came across it earlier this afternoon and thought I would use the front of the card to mount on to an A5 stardream card with added sentiments. So, there you are - I've cheated and recycled one of my own cards!

You can see the original card here.

The gold embossing on the butterfly doesn't really show up here, but it did on the original version:

I'm entering this into a couple of 'recycling' challenges:

CHNC challenge 21: let's see some scallops

It's Saturday again and that means another challenge on my Craftyhazelnut's Christmas challenge blog - can you believe that we're now on challenge 21? How the weeks fly by. If you''d like to take part in my challenge please just follow the link and you will find all the details.

I'm being a bit cheeky with this card and doubling it up for the Christmas gang challenge set by Margaret (Dutchess) - please see the list of names in my sidebar and visit the others in the gang - if you'd like to join in just get in touch with one of us - the idea is that every fortnight one of the gang sets a Christmas card challenge so that we are all encouraged to build up our stocks. I enjoyed Margaret's challenge, but didn't find it easy incorporating all the elements, so I cheated a tiny little bit (I'll leave you to judge whether it's actually 'cheating' or not).

Margaret asked us to use:

1.Glitter
2.Snow
3.Berries
4.A christmas tree
5. Anything but square

I cut the base card from 'doiley card' on the cricut wild card cartridge (that ticks No. 5) - I just love this template. I then used one of my favourite nesties (yes, I've used it a lot recently) to cut a piece of GCD studios 'chill out' collection (that ticks No. 2). I stamped Christmas trees and greeting from the PM Joyeux Noel stamp set, stamping with Brilliance pearlescent ivy and embossed with clear detail powder and very lightly gave a bit of colour with a couple of pastel copics (that ticks No. 4).

So that just left No. 1 and No. 3 - although the actual base card paper was shiny on the polka dots, but I suppose you wouldn't actually call it 'glitter'. So I used crystal ice stickles glitter glue to dot on every outer circle of the scalloped nestie shape - not only does that cover No. 1 glitter, but (bit of imagination here) they are mistletoe berries, so that also ticks No. 3 - phew!!

So, as well as submitting this for Margaret's Christmas gang challenge, it's also my card for CHNC challenge 21: let's see some scallops.

I really had hoped to get a separate card done for each challenge, but it's been quite a difficult week - I had a cold last week and it has left me with painful sinusitis - had to go and get some ABs for it and just hoping it will clear up before we go away at the beginning of next week for a few days.
