CHNC challenge 413

This is my design card for my CHNC challenge 413 -  please click on the link to find out what it's all about and I hope you'll be able to join in with your Christmas designs - anything goes as long as it's Christmas with the optional theme of 'make your own background'.

I didn't say anything on here last Saturday, but my dear husband died in hospital on 11 November. I'm trying to get done the things that need to be done, but not sure whether I'll be able to make enough Christmas cards to be sent this year. I've got some commissions that I need to get on with (although people aren't pressing me at all), not all of them Christmas. At the moment, I'm just getting through each day.

I made the background by randomly inking an Inkadinkado snowflakes stamp with versamark and heat embossing with detail silver powder. The centre was heat foiled with holographic silver on my todo using one of their doily letterpress/foiling stamps. This was raised up with a couple of layers of 3D foam, as was the 3D snowflake in the middle (from The Works).

This isn't a good photo because I didn't make the card till last night and either got too much glare from the flash or too little of the silver showing up.

Commissioned sympathy card

This is a commissioned sympathy card using an 8 x 8 card blank which I randomly stamped using one of my favourite Penny Black stamps, sparklers, inked with stazon gothic purple.I also inked the edges and lightly brushed the card.. I used a piece of Love to Craft Papillon paper from Poundland. This was stamped with the 'With Sympathy' Hobbycraft stamped inked with the stazon gothic purple, embossed using a Todo Henna letterpress die, brushed with the stazon, cut with a todo die, inked round the edges. Butterflies were added from the Papillon range, decorated with purple pearls, which were also added to the corners of the card.

Window to the heart

I was privileged to be asked by Hunkydory Crafts Ltd to receive some of their lovely craft supplies, make something and write a review. I was delighted to do this as I use quite a lot of their products (some previous posts show the variety of products I've used).

I chose to work with Window to the heart shimmering sentiments ultimate bundle, choosing to start by making one of the pop-up aperture cards. I'm an experienced crafter, but I chose to work with one of the aperture cards because I wanted to show how effective the finished product is and to let you know that even a beginner would be able to have this success with no problems.

There is an instruction sheet with clear guidelines for putting the card together. All I needed in addition to the supplies given were scissors, hi-tack double sided tape and foam pads. The elements sheet and the pop-up aperture card were ready scored and pieces easily came out of the elements/sentiments panel.

The result is very charming ... I can't wait to make another one because, having done the first one, it will be even easier .

The card will fold down flat enough to go into a C5 envelope ... some are provided in the kit.

There's plenty more in the bundle that could be used in many different ways, giving scope for a seasoned crafter to make up elements in any way she wishes, perhaps combining with other Hunkydory products. I have to confess that I have boxes of Adorable Scorable, Marvellous  Mirror pads, little books, card kits etc ... in fact another lovely parcel of goodies was delivered a couple of days ago because I needed some more supplies (when I say 'needed' perhaps that should read 'wanted' because there is so much loveliness to buy that it's hard to resist).

I thoroughly recommend Hunkydory - their products are always of the highest quality.

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper November 2018 challenge

This is my design card for my Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper November challenge. .If you make anything that includes some patterned paper you can link your entries and you might be the randomly chosen winner of lovely prize that I'm giving away. Please click on the challenge link to find out more and join in the fun.

For my card I used a piece of patterned paper bought long ago from PDA cards and craft. I was commissioned to make an 18th birthday card for someone who loves horses. She has just recently passed her driving test and has a white car, so I used my old Sizzix car front die using an offcut piece of gloss white card, using snippets of foiled silver for the headlamps, a piece of acetate for the windscreen and added the 'number plate' using my dymo letratag with yellow tape. The torn L plate was created digitally and then I added the silver glittered greetings.
