4 x 4 cards

In one of those moments when I thought I would use lots of them, I bought some small cards (envies included) thinking that I would use them to make up packs of 5 Christmas cards, but I confess that up until now I've had no enthusiasm for using them, preferring to work with a bigger surface.

However, I saw the sketch for Fat-tastic Tuesday 9: should have gnome and I thought I should use some of those cards. This is the sketch:

When I first saw the sketch I thought that I would never get all of that on to such a small surface, but, with a bit of tweaking that I hope is allowed, I managed to make five cards.

The pictures of the cats are decoupaged - I bough these years ago (another of those moments!) and thought it was about time they were used. I used scraps of silver mirror card to mount them. The bling gems were from Poundland, silver glitter border from Paper Cellar and the red and white snowflakes from Hobbycraft (no, I've never seen any red and white snowflakes either ... but I think anything is allowed when being creative!).

There are two of one cat and three of the other (didn't have five all the same):

A closer look at one of each:

Some of the silver looks a bit gold because of the flash, but the backing of the images are definitely all silver mirror.

Christmas fairy with sparkle

This is my third card for today's CCAYR September challenge: Christmas fairies with a little sparkle.

I've used another internet freebie fairy picture on to which I added some polar white flower soft and some Art Institute blue angel glitter. I mounted the image on to a piece of mirror card and added the Anna Griffin sentiment. I chose the shaped card blank to pick up the colour tones of the deer. The sparkly net is a couple of snippet pieces and sparkly rhinestones from Poundland.

Golden fairy

This is my second card for CCAYR September: Christmas fairies with a little sparkle.

I've used another internet freebie that I came across, using a quickie pen to add some Art Institute Florida orange glitter (looks more like gold than orange). I used an offcut of Graphic 45 'we wish you a merry Christmas' paper on to which I mounted a piece of gold pearlised card that had been run through my eBosser with a Embossalicious folder. The piece of sparkly holly ribbon is an offcut (only got a small piece of this left now - shame). The sentiment circle is actually gold with red lettering: with love. Everything has been mounted on to a kraft card blank.

First card for CCAYR 'Christmas fairy' challenge

As it's 1 September, it's time for a new challenge on Christmas Cards All Year Round and this month's challenge is 'Christmas fairies with a little sparkle'.

I've based my card on the sketch given for Fetch a sketch 57:

I used a ready shaped dotted card blank on to which I stuck a gorgeous fairy image that I found online, mounted on to a piece of lilac mirror card. I highlighted some of the snow using polar white flower soft and used stickles lavender for the fairy's wings. The gingham ribbon was from Hobbycraft and the silver metal charm and the sentiment were from stash.

The Glory of Christmas: anything goes

It's time for a new challenge on The Glory of Christmas: anything goes. Please visit and see what the rest of the team have created and, hopefully, join in - please make sure you acquaint yourself with the rules first - there is a rule change: you can now combine with more than 4 other challenges.

I based my card on the sketch for Always playing with paper Merry Monday 72:

I created the background by inking Papermania Urban stamp 'home for Christmas (homespun)' with memento cottage ivy. This is such a large stamp (larger than the card blank, that I laid the card on to the stamp and brayered it. The flowers are from assorted packs of Holiday Elements by Little Birdie, layered on to a die cuts. Sentiment and ribbon from stash.
