CHNC challenge extra for June

Can you believe that it's June already - that means that by the end of this month we will be halfway through the year and certainly nearer to Christmas 2014 than 2013 - a scary thought. Which is why it makes sense to get on with the Christmas crafting before any panic sets in. It's good making Christmas cards when there is no pressure. If you haven't yet started, why not hop on over to CHNC challenge extra for June and join in. If you click on the link you'll see the lovely creations of the rest of the team.

This is my design card. Every month the challenges are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and I've used an image that they kindly supplied as well as some of their digital papers. The image I've used is winter trio which I coloured with spectrum noir pens.

Completely Christmas 14

As it's Saturday again that means it's time for Completely Christmas 14 - anything goes as long as it's Christmas - please click on the link to see the lovely designs by the rest of the team and please join in the challenge.

I used  Sparkle n Sprinke 'snow goddess', colouring digitally using Microsoft Paint (Sparkle n Sprinkle are the sponsors for Completely Christmas challenge 14). I dotted the collar and muff with quickie glue pen and sprinkled with Art Institute loose glitter.

All papers are My Mind's Eye 12 days of Christmas and the flowers and sentiment are from stash.

CHNC challenge 179: 3 of something

For my CHNC challenge 179 this week I'm asking to see 3 of something. If you haven't started your Christmas cards yet this year, it might be a good idea to think about joining in and get ahead of the 'panic season'. I'd love to see you there.

For my card I've used a Hunkydory background and some vellum and card panels that I've had for ages. The vellum is white with gold foiling, which, unfortunately, doesn't really show up in this flash photo (will try and replace with a better one taken in daylight). The flowers were from Hobbycraft.

The cheerful stamp pad challenge 87: sentiment

This is my design card for this fortnight's Cheerful stamp pad challenge 87, which is to use a sentiment as the main focus of the creation. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in the challenge.

The background paper is an unknown piece that I found in my box. The panel on the left was made with my gelli plate, a stencil and acrylic paint. I inked the Clarity sentiment stamp with memento grape jelly, using a pre-cut die shape. Flowers added from stash.

And, of course, I've used my favourite crafting colour - love purple!

Guest designer for Lexi challenge 117: birthdays

I'm privileged to join Lexi's creations challenge 117 today as a guest winner of a previous challenge. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the team and join in the challenge.

The background of this card was made with my gelli plate, acrylic paint and a stencil, over an offcut piece of paper lurking in my scraps box. Another offcut down the side (Hunkydory) with Hobbycraft ribbon with gems. The butterflies image was kindly supplied by Lexi - I coloured with spectrum noir pens and cut out with Spellbinder's 'marvellous squares' die, cutting out a piece of green background paper with the next die in the set. Once again, the paper was from my scraps box. Glittered flowers and sentiment from stash.

Voting will close on Monday the 9th of June @ 23:55pm European Time.
Please be aware of the time zone differences - on the top left you will find the Date and Clock on the Blog.
We were given this sketch to work with:'

My card has been created using Basic Grey 'sugared' papers and stickers, as well as using a Dawn Bibby heart stamp and freehand drawn stitching. I used an 8" x 8" card blank to give plenty of room to be able to use the sentiment which I think is just right for a card to celebrate the birth of a baby girl. I inked all edges with a mix of antique linen and brushed corduroy distress inks.

The same but different

Three Christmas cards that have been made from almost the same supplies, but they are all slightly different. This is a scheduled post as today is our Wedding Anniversary and we are enjoying time away. I made these in advance for Sarn's Rudolph Day - she asks for two Christmas cards in the same blogpost ... I've included an extra too.

Papers are all Kaisercraft and the pictures are from a LOTV art pad set 18 winter wonderland, each one torn around a perspex oval. The sentiments are odd ones that I've accumulated (have a mixed bag of them).

CHNC challenge 178: Christmas in your country

This is my card for CHNC challenge 178: Christmas in your country - I'd like to see something on your card that makes you think of Christmas in your country - it might be something seasonal or a particular national celebration or tradition ... I'm sure you will have ideas. For instance, I have used a picture with a typically British pillar box, as well as a snowy scene that is traditionally thought of at Christmas. Also, lace is quite widely used in the UK.

For my card I've used 'snowy postbox' a digital image by Delicious Doodles (one of today's sponsors), colouring just the pillar box with a red spectrum noir. The background paper is from the Authentique peaceful collection (I do love these papers and am sorry that I'm gradually using them up). Lace and Craftime flowers from stash.

I based the card on the sketch given for Crazy challenge 171 (too late to actually join the challenge though, but still wanted to acknowledge it):

The sweet pea stampers challenge: things with wings

There is a new challenge today on the Sweet pea stamper blog - we'd like to see 'things with wings' here - please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team.

For my card I used Ching Chou Kuik's 'Butterfly' Digi (also available as a stamp) colouring with spectrum noir pens. I mounted this on to a piece of Creata mirror board, using a similar piece to cover the card blank. The pearlescant card with foiled stars is some I bought when I first started cardmaking many moons ago! Glittered ribbon, sentiment and ribbon flower with gem all from stash.

Cheerful stamp pad challenge 86 2nd week

The cheerful stamp pad challenge 86: 'bouquet of flowers' continues for another week and the design team creations for the second week can be seen here. It would be great if you could join in the challenge with your own floral images here.

For my design card I used a white card blank on to which I matted some torn sentiment paper and spotted ribbon. The image is Lunagirl's 'mixed flowers'  which I die cut and matted on to a piece of textured card that had been die cut. I then added a gold foiled Craft work cards sentiment circle.

Christmas card with a recipe

It's time for the fortnightly Christmas card club challenge and it was Zoe's turn to set the theme and she gave us a recipe: a button, three brads, ribbon and one other accessory.

I've used a couple of offcuts from my Christmas scraps box, splitting the green paper either side of the red and gold foiled card because it wasn't big enough to cover the card blank and filled the gap perfectly with the glittered ribbon. The picture is from the LOTV art pad set 18 winter wonderland. The button tops a rosette (which is my 'other accessory' that Zoe asked for) and I've used three brads.

CHNC challenge 177: festive flowers and/or foliage

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 177: festive flowers and/or foliage - I invite you to click on the link and join in the challenge. I've used a stamp from a set by Cupids clear stamps similar to one of the sets that will be given to one of the randomly chosen winners. I inked the stamp with memento cottage ivy and randomly stamped off the corner edges of the ivory card blank. I then added some red faux stitching around the edges. The thoughts and prayers Hampton Art stamp was inked with the memento cottage ivy. The poinsettia-type flower is an odd one that has been in my Christmas stash for ages (it's about time it should be used).

Crafting musketeers mid-month

I'm in Crafting musketeers team B so it's time today to show my design card for the 'anything but a square' challenge. You can see the lovely designs of the rest of the team here and see the original post of team A for challenge 13 here and take part in the challenge.

For my design card I used a shoe blank that I got from Poundland - a bargain - 8 of these cards with purple envelopes, nearly 7" x 7", so the shoes are a good size.

I added glitter strips and gems and used some Kanban silver foiling with stickers that I've had for ages and never attempted to use. Around the toe area I have glued and added polar white flowersoft that came from our sponsor, Katy Sue. There is a super prize to be won from Katy Sue and also some mystery prizes for the top 3 - details here.

I'd love to be able to wear shoes like these. When I was younger I used to wear very high heels, but not any more.

Another design for CCAYR mid-month

This is my second design card for the mid-month inspiration for CCAYR May challenge, which is all about Santa. Please click on the link to see the lovely creations of the rest of the team and join in the challenge here.

I've used an offcut of Hunkydory card for the backgroound with a panel of K & Co paper. and a sentiment from stash. The image is 'Christmas Freddie' kindly supplied by Chi Chi Memories, sponsors of CCAYR May challenge. I coloured this with spectrum noir pens and cut out with a scalloped circle nestie die, brushing the edges with pink distress ink (although this doesn't really show here). the sentiment and heart are from stash.

Our anniversary

Our anniversary isn't till 25 May ... but for once I've made a card ahead of time. I actually have quite a list of other cards to make, but thought I wouldn't leave this till the last minute (as I usually do) - we'll actually be away for the anniversary, so even more reason to get ahead.

The background was created with my gelli plate with acrylic paint and a stencil on to a piece of pink paper with fine white dots. The roses are  from a sheet of Basic Grey 'surgared' embellishment stickers, the bears, hearts and Anniversary sentiment are Forever Friends and the quote is from a set of sentiments I purchased a while ago. I'm a bit worried that it looks a bit too girly ... I hope John likes it.

This is for:

The paper shelter 157: love is in the air
Time out 5: time flies, love lasts (23rd anniversary) - 'every day that passes by'
Eclectic paperie May: get stencilled
