A second card for Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper June challenge

This is my second card for my Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper June challenge - please click on the link to discover what this is all about, if you haven't done so already - and please join in my challenge, using any of your patterned paper - anything goes, as long as you use some patterned paper.

The prize this month is:

K & company Roam 6" x 6" paper pad
36 sheets - 3 sheets each of 12 designs

I had two of the K & Co Roam paper pads, so I made two cards using the same two stamps in different ways on two different pieces of paper from the pad.

For the second card I used this piece of paper from the K & Co Roam pad:

this time using the same two stamps, but inking with Brilliance pearlescent purple and sprinkling with pearl plum embossing powder and heating. I then swiped across with versamark and lightly brushed some  cosmic shimmer sunrise pink iridescent mica pigment over it, which I then buffed up with a tissue. In the process of rubbing the area I accidentally creased the paper in a few places. I ran it through my Xyron adhesive hoping that the creases would press out, but they didn't. In the end I thought it added to the vintage look of the card, so I decided to keep the creases! (instead of starting all over again, having spent quite a long time anyway).

CHNC challenge extra for June 2015

This is my design card for my CHNC challenge extra for June - please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of my team.

For my card I used one of my favourite Bugaboo Stamps digis (Bugaboo, as usual, are sponsoring the challenge with a prize of $21 to spend in their digital online store - so much choice!)/ The digi I used, supplied by Bugaboo stamps, is 'winter birds - skate' - I coloured with spectrum noir pens - all papers are offcuts of My Mind's Eye Christmas lost and found (I'll be really sad when all the other remaining snippets are used up).

This is my design card for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 82: anything goes with a twist ... bright and colourful. Please click on the link to see the other lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

For my card I used Deedee's Digis Little birdie, kindly supplied by the challenge sponsor.

I needed to send a new home card recently and this lovely image seemed appropriate, matted on to gold mirror card and on to a wood background from Kanban with a 'Happy new home' sentiment from Kanban.

Completely Christmas challenge 65

This is my design card for Completely Christmas 65: anything goes with a twist ... make it square. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team. This is a sad day for Completely Christmas because it is our last challenge.

If this challenge blog has helped you to make your Christmas cards earlier in the year to avoid panic towards the end of the year, there are quite a few other challenge blogs devoted to making Christmas creations, including my own weekly Craftyhazelnut Christmas challenge - this week the theme for CHNC challenge 231 is 'colour it'. I also run the monthly Craftyhazelnut's Christmas challenge extra where it is always 'anything goes' as long as it's Christmas. There are always lovely prizes to be won on both of these blogs.

Back to Completely Christmas challenge 65 - for my card I used a lovely shiny dufex picture of three ships (upcycled from a card received) matted on to an offcut piece of text paper with the words of the Christmas song, which was then mounted on to another Christmas script paper. It is a shame that the photo doesn't do justice to the lovely picture.

I used one of the images from Lunagirl's civil war ladies-gents, kindly supplied by Lunagirl as sponsor of the challenge, printed out and matted on to black card. Papers are some that I've had for some time, with a piece of torn vellum with pocket watches behind the image.

CHNC challenge 230: use something die cut or punched

This is my design card for my CHNC challenge 230: use something die cut or punched.

For my card I've used a lovely coloured image from Beccy Muir at Beccy's Place called  'family reunion' (Beccy is one of our sponsors this week). I die cut the image using a Nelli Snellen die and used the same die to create a negative one in the mirror card, cutting it to make a frame. The background card is Hunkydory and I punched three stars from the mirror card adding 3 pearl button stars on to them. The sentiment circle is from Craftwork Cards, originally cream, coloured with a spectrum noir pen.

With sympathy

I have a couple of boxes of cards as church and it's a sad fact of life that sympathy cards and 'thinking of you' type cards tend to sell quite quickly, so I need to make a few to improve stocks.

The background is designed by Lavinia Stamps for Imagination Stamps. I stamped on to this using one of my favourite stamps, Penny Black's 'sparklers', inked with memento grape jelly, also stamping the corner and the Dovecraft sentiment inked the same. Because the background has a sheen to it, I had to dry the ink with my heat gun and the corner had almost smudged a bit, but I decided I quite liked it as it blended in with the ethereal look of the whole picture.

The background paper is from a book, 'Vintage style grahics' by Angela Patchell - a bargain from Poundland, which also includes a CD-rom with all the patterns, textures and more.

Together

This is my design card for Fan-tastic Tuesday challenge 86: anything goes with a twist ... no patterned paper. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

I used Deedee's Digis Daniel's sweetheart image and sentiments, kindly supplied by the challenge sponsor. This is just right for an anniversary card to give to John next Monday (I'm not usually this well prepared ... often make the card the night before ... but, thanks to this challenge, it's done early). I've used a tri-fold card, using some corrugated card and Paper Cellar gold strips top and bottom on the front and for the underneath I've used a couple of the sentiments and a couple of fabric hearts. The 'together' was taken from a sentiment that had other words that I blocked out.

As John has very little vision, this is the kind of card that he appreciates - no fussy patterns.

The glory of Christmas challenge 59

This is my design card for the Glory of Christmas challenge 59, which is to feature a bird or birds or 'anything goes' as long as it's Christmas - we hope you will join in our challenge. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team.

I decided to make a CAS one layer card ... I had to have a few attempts (thankfully, the card blanks won't be wasted because they can be covered with patterned paper). I've ended up with this version and, while I'm not really that happy with it, I decided I couldn't keep making different versions!

I've stamped an old Anita dove image and also the Hampton Art sentiment stamp, as well as six little stamps stamped into rings created with a self inked 7 gypsies stamp. The small stamps within the dotted circles were actually inked with memento grape jelly, a purple colour, but they look black here - it was so difficult to get a picture of the white card. I added some glitter on to just one area of the dove.

This doesn't show the white so well, but you can see the purple a bit better:

Crafting musketeers challenge 25: use a die cut

It's the turn of team B to show their designs for mid-month inspiration for Crafting Musketeers challenge 25. Please have a look at the rest of the team's lovely designs by clicking on the link and you can join in the challenge here.

I used some die cut toppers from The Hobby House (they are sponsoring the challenge) called 'here comes summer'. I matted these on to die cut shapes that I edged with a spectrum noir pen.

For my design card I thought it would make a change to use a twister card, decorating it with pieces of magazine freebie papers and some scrap pieces of spotty card.

CHNC challenge 229: use some of your favourite things

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 229 - this week I'm simply asking you to use some of your favourite things when you make your Christmas creation - easy peasy ... and, like me, you might then be singing, 'These are a few of my favourite things ...' Hope you can join in the challenge.

For my card I've used quite a few of my favourite things - dry embossing (embossing folder run through the eBosser), patterned paper, particularly these offcuts of My Mind's Eye lost and found Christmas, one of my favourite Christmas stamps by Penny Black, 'chill day', stamping with versafine onyx black and heat embossing with detail black powder, flowers, glitter, alcohol pens (spectrum noir) ... these are just a few of my favourite things.

The glitter on Santa's clothes is from Stamps by Chloe (quite a chunky glitter) and I used some dots of glue pen and Art Institute fine glitter for snowflakes. Robins and poinsettias from Hobbycraft.

This is also for:
