Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper April 2017 challenge

This is my design card for my Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper April 2017 challenge. I was commissioned by a friend to make this card - the background paper is some that I've had for a long time - I think it was part of a scrapbook kit. The paper with the punched borders was part of a magazine freebie. I used some paper to match the background to cut a mat for the sentiment that was printed and die cut using a todo die. Flowers, gems, bows and numerals from stash.

Be naughty ... save Santa the trip!

It's also for my CHNC challenge 327 - please click on the link to see what it's all about and I hope you will join in with the challenge - it makes sense to get on with Christmas creations while there is plenty of time to enjoy doing so without any panic. The challenge is anything goes as long as it's Christmas with the option of 'something funny'. I chose this theme because this challenge starts on 1 April, which in the UK is April fool's day when folks play jokes on one another, so I thought it would be a good idea to have a bit of fun.

For my card I used Bugaboo Stamps Crabby Cathy Christmas - be naughty (retired), coloured digitally using Microsoft paint. The papers are from my offcuts box, candy canes, holly and poinsettia from stash.

I used the lovely pre-coloured Cute as a button 'sewing Susan' image (they are sponsoring the challenge). I used two Darice embossing folders, just using the middle one on the left from one of the folders. I swiped the embossing with worn lipstick distress ink. The eyelash trim, felt buttons and gems are from stash.

Penny's challenge 321

I used the lovely Sasayaki Glitter Amy gardening image, kindly supplied by them as sponsor of the challenge. I coloured with spectrum noir and copic pens and cut with a Spellbinder's marvellous squares die, using my todo. The background paper is some that I got from PDA card and craft a few years ago, the little epoxy animals are klistermaerker stickers from Hema and the wooden butterfly from The Works, with the addition of the peel off greeting.

CHNC challenge 325

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 325 - please click on the link to see what it's all about and I hope you will join in with the challenge - it makes sense to get on with Christmas creations while there is plenty of time to enjoy doing so without any panic. The challenge is anything goes as long as it's Christmas with the option of 'no patterned paper'.

I followed the optional theme: no patterned paper. I used a Die'sire edge'ables Christmas only words die from Crafter's Companion at the top of the card blank, lining the card with some lovely deep aqua coloured mirror card so this shows through. I randomly stamped a few times using an Inkadinkadoo snowflakes stamp inked with Brilliance pearlescent jade.

The decoupaged picture raised up with foam tape (part of a kit bought some years ago) is mounted on to mirror card to match the inside of the card - unfortunately, the bright shiny effect doesn't show here, neither does the pearlescent jade Brilliance ink that was used to stamp.

CCAYR March challenge: anything but a card

This is my card for Christmas cards all year round March challenge: anything but a card. (Apologies to my teamies that I was late in adding my creation, which is why this is being blogged the day after the challenge reminder went live).

I downloaded the lovely svg freebie from Dreaming tree called Christmas treats gift box, cutting with my Scan n Cut using various papers, mainly from DCWV, some glitter washi tape and a luscious red bow that's been in a box from ages (upcycled from something received).

Penny's challenge 320

This is my design card for Penny's challenge 320, where the theme is 'anything goes'. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs by the rest of the team and we hope you will join in with your entries.

I used Delicious Doodles crocus and butterfly frame kindly supplied by Delicious Doodles as one of the sponsors of the challenge. I coloured with spectrum noir pens, using a spectrum cosmos glitter pen to highlight some of the petals (unfortunately, this doesn't show in the photo). After cutting out by hand, this was mounted on to a piece of card from a Tattered Lace magazine and mounted on to the purple card blank, adding the Happy Easter peel off.

Let's craft and create 123: enTWINEd

This is my design card for Let's craft and create challenge 123: enTWINEd - using twine. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and we hope you will join in our challenge.

At the end of 2016 I was asked if I would like to try some chalk markers, free of charge - such a generous offer ... and I said that I would write a review on Amazon.co.uk and also on my blog. It so happened that John was taken ill and ended up in St Thomas hospital in the new year and life has been quite difficult since, with other things happening as well ... so this has been my first opportunity to 'play' with the markers.

I was given a set of premium wet wipe markers and also a set of earthy colors.

I used them to colour on to acetate - I had a 12 x 12 piece of printed 'down by the seaside' acetate by Creative Imaginations for a long time and thought it was about time to use it, cutting it down to fit an 8 x 8 card.

The background with the bunting and the beach huts is a piece of kitchen towel that I carefully ran through my Xyron to stick to the card blank, sticking the acetate on to this and then adding the chipboard pieces and the twine, having used a piece of patterned paper behind the chipboard frame.

This is a lengthy introduction to this card because I wanted to give the information about the markers and to say how grateful I am to have the opportunity to try them - I would thoroughly recommend them - they are easy to apply - best used on non porous surfaces, which is why I chose to colour on to acetate. I did have to be careful to give them enough time to dry. If I had been certain that the acetate was heat proof I would have dried with my heat gun, but I wasn't sure.

More mixed media March challenge

This is my design project for More mixed media March challenge where the option this month is to use green, so I used plenty of it (and not much else!).

I covered the front of a plain beige coloured scrapbook (the finish was a bit like canvas so I took a chance to see if gesso/paint would 'take'). I added white gesso, slightly watered down and then brushed with a mix of three different acrylic paints, using a fourth one to stencil through the woodland flower stencil, adding white opal liquid pearls and dabbing around the bottom with the stencil brush. The 'remember' and the corner stamps are from a Teresa Collins set inked with memento cottage ivy (more prominent irl than in the photo).

Update: I notice that, in the comments, quite a few people have referred to this as a card - it isn't a card, it's the front of an 8 x 8 scrapbook which was originally plain beige.

This is my card following the optional theme: vintage. Supplies are from Hunkydory and the bottom of the card has been embossed using a 'softly falling' embossing folder by Leonie Pujol (like the one in this week's prize) This is an 8 x 8 card. The image within the octagonal shape is decoupaged to give depth to the card.

Penny's challenge 318

This is my design card for Penny's challenge 318, where the theme is 'anything goes'. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs by the rest of the team and we hope you will join in with your entries.

I used the lovely Sparkle n Sprinkle Vivian hat lady image (Sparkle n Sprinkle are one of the sponsors of the challenge). Papers are offcuts from GDC studios Paris nights - the main background paper has a raised velvety pattern - lovely touchy feely! Other bits and bobs from stash including black lace from The Works. I played around with the hue of the image digitally before printing and cutting around, finishing off with adding pink with a spectrum noir pen, which was also used to add a bit of colour to the inner flower.

I used one of Lozzy's lovely mixed media digital papers - you can see Lozzy's range of papers here. I used a snippet of the chicks paper that I've had for ages, added some Kanban trims, Hobbycraft flowers, lovely picture and peel off greeting.

For my card I combined two digital images from Digital Delights from their birds and houses value set (they are sponsoring the challenge) - printed out and die cut on my Scan n Cut - adding on to four different layers of patterned paper.

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper March 2017 challenge

This is my design card for my Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper March 2017 challenge. Papers are offcuts of Basic Grey from the cupcake collection (I've had these papers a long time - about time some were used again). The picture was one that I got as a freebie from the internet a few years ago - I added the sentiment and printed. An offcut of Kanban Happy Birthday sentiment card as also used and a piece of corrugated trim.

CHNC challenge extra for March 2017

This is my card for my CHNC challenge extra for March 2017. Please click on the link to see the lovely festive designs by my team and we hope to see your Christmas creations entered there during the month.

I used Bugaboo Stamps AKV Nativity - wiseman 1, 2 and 3 (retired), colouring with spectrum noir pens and adding the sentiment on computer and printed.

The background card is an offcut of Hunkydory, with strips of argyle washi tape top and bottom and some trim with gems.
