BF Think Pink cards

The first two cards are for the BF Think Pink challenge 9: think of a number, one for a man and one for a lady:

The next one is for the Think Pink challenge 11: Awkward Annies - a card for a child (one for a man to follow):

BF Think Pink challenge 10: brown/blue

I've managed to do a card for challenge 10 on Think Pink (please click on the link on the right to see the other fab things that are being contributed).

I used a brown base card covered with a K & Co paper. The brown square in the middle was cut from a sheet of card that was in a Christmas kit I bought recently from QVC. The folder blooms seemed to sit neatly on the card (it doesn't show very well here, but there is a brown bloom beneath the blue one). The scrolling and leaves on the brown square are actually gold foiling, which, unfortunately, doesn't show up.

I was tempted to add more to the card, but resisted the temptation because I think I like it as it is:

Christmas cards

Having done over 100 Christmas cards since we got back from Eastbourne (although none since Saturday) I thought I'd show a selection:

Unfortunately, photos had to be taken by flash because the light is poor, so some reflection.

HS:MS purple

'The colour that is intermediate between red and blue. Find something purple in your space today.'

Not sure that this really qualifies as 'purple' - it's probably more like pink or lilac - but I'm going to show it, because it's one of my favourites from our Eastbourne stay that I haven't shown yet.

How the canvas looks in daylight

Still looks as if a 6-year old did it!!

Paper n Lace Altered Canvas Challenge

On Paper n Lace Jo (bagpuss) set a challenge: 'Your challenge is to ALTER a CANVAS using any materials or medium u like.'

Well, I've never done a canvas before, so this is a sad first attempt. I have Laura Ashley curtains in my craft room. Quite a while ago I received a magazine sub free gift of some LA stamps and various other matching bits. So I decided to use some of these on the canvas.

I covered the canvas with various shades of acrylic paints (using an old credit card to spread it - saw this tip somewhere on the net). Then I used a reddish pink acrylic paint brushed on a LA stamp quite a few times over the canvas. I then sprinkled hologram embossing powder and heated, which is why it's difficult to get pictures (especially at night, but the deadline for the challenge is today). In these pictures you can't really see many of the stamped images, but I can assure you that they do show up more irl, depending on the angle of light reflection. It really does look less patchy than in the photos.

Well, I did say it was a first attempt!

HS:MS sweet

Today's prompt: 'To have a pleasant taste characteristic of sugar or honey. Find something sweet in your space today.'

As John is diabetic and I too should go easy on the sweet stuff (ha ha), we don't have a lot of 'sweet' in our space, but this is something that I adore on pancakes or porridge (which is probably why I try not to have porridge too often - although it would be very good for me - because I tend to smother it in golden syrup:

My CJ has come home

I've really enjoyed contributing to the CJs of the little group on Bumbleberries for the last few months - and now my own fab CJ has returned home, full of beautifully crafted contributions - thank you, girls.

HS:MS point

'To direct someone's attention with your finger. Find 'point' in your space today'

Strictly speaking this lad is telling the dog to be quiet, but I think his finger is definitely in a pointing position:

It's raining again, so the picture was taken with a flash at a bit of a strange angle, thus casting the shadow, but I quite like it, so I decided to settle for it rather than to try unsuccessfully for a better shot.

Blog candy

I'm hoping to get organised soon to offer some blog candy to celebrate 20,000 hits (I've gone past the 19,000 now - amazing! - and I didn't even have a counter when I first started the blog). Thanks to everyone who leaves me comments - much appreciated.

I visit so many super crafty blogs that the list would be too great to have as links, but I thought I'd give a mention to Adele, who is offering some blog candy atm

Two more birthday cards

When I got home yesterday there were two more gorgeous birthday cards waiting for me - I've added them to the slideshow that I showed on 21 August, but wanted to show them here so they didn't get lost in the mists of time!

From Leigh on JB:

From Nikki (Tink) on JB:

HS:MS enter

Today on HS:MS: 'To come or go into a place. Show us 'enter' in your space today.'

I was going to show the enter key on my laptop, but then I remembered that John has large print letters on his, including the wording for various keys, so here is my 'enter':

HS:MS hedge

'A boundary formed by bushes or shrubs. Show us a hedge in your space today'

We're back home now, so this unruly hedge is in our own garden:

HS:MS gate & romantic

I've just found out that yesterday's promt was 'gate' - this is the best I can do - two gates seen from our wet balcony:

And today on HS:MS is 'romantic' - and this is the best I can do:

Wind and rain

The wind was howling overnight and the rain lashing. The wind seems to have died down now, but it's still raining - hence I'm online for a while, while John is listening to his story tape.

Yesterday was a mixture - we had a quick shower just when we had finished a coffee at a lovely cafe at Sovereign harbour - everyone had to quickly leave the tables and get under shelter. However, a lot of the time yesterday we did actually see the sun, but it was windy.

I took this picture at Sovereign harbour:

And thought this caption was apt (although you can't see here what it says: 'Oh dear, I'm late for the board meeting':

And this is the view from the balcony this morning!

Thank you to everyone who's left comments - very kind of you - I know that holiday photos can be boring. As for the camera, it's just a small olympus one - it has a good zoom - and, of course, photo editing on computer can help, particularly with cropping.

Sunday, 31 August 2008

What a difference yesterday - that was summer!!

Yay!! The sun shone yesterday - it was a lovely warm summer day - just as it should be on holiday. During the afternoon we stopped along by the bandstand for a while to listen to some Broadway music:

Here's another shot of John for yesterday's HS:MS SPS:

Today on HS:MS is SOS, so I'll show a few of the shots that I've taken while here in Eastbourne:

This morning it's been raining and is still overcast, hence me having a little internet time. We're going to amble over to the wishtower restaurant for lunch and then see what the weather's doing and how the fancy takes us.
