Vintage florals

This card if for TTC12-11 on Crafts by Carolyn forum which has been set by Adele, who is asking to see 'vintage florals'. I've used a ready decorated  background on to which I've added some Prima flowers and flower centre, as well as a couple of docrafts ones. The oval picture of the girl has been in my box for ages. I edged the rim with stazon vibrant violet and then lightly distressed with shaded lilac DI using an inkylicious blending brush. The three little dragon flies were punched ones - I have a whole bag of them in different colours that were punched out ages ago (they come in handy occasionally).

Sugar and spice ...

... and all things nice - that was the challenge Zoe set for the Christmas Card Club for today. When I first saw what the theme was I thought of including little girls - thinking of the rest of the rhyme ... that's what little girls are made of. But then I thought of sugar and spice things to eat at Christmas ... and my mind went to gingerbread men (or perhaps nowadays I should say gingerbread people).

When we were in Eastbourne early in September, I bought some bits and pieces on the market, including a lovely material gingerbread person - I thought that would be great to use on my card ... but I can't find it. As soon as we came back from Eastbourne we had to start arrangements for mum to go into a care home and then clear her flat etc and things got tucked away.

So in the end I resorted to using some papers that had come with a magazine and a few pieces from my Christmas offcuts box, so this is my first visit to Pixie's crafty snippets 45. The ribbon and the Merry Christmas sentiment (darkened with an alcohol pen) were from stash. The spiky scalloped circle was cut with a nestie.

I still need to catch up with a few challenges on Sunday's with Santa on facebook, so this is for week 35 (way back at the end of August!): easel card.

Commissioned birthday card

I've been asked to make a birthday card A5 size, pink/purple girlie with 60 somewhere on the front - I hope this fits the bill.

I've used a card blank that was already decorated with an oval centre, which I've used to stick inside the card, but can still be seen through the aperture. I stamped on to the oval with one of my favourite Funstamps sentiment inking with stazon vibrant violet.

The flowers are a mixture from stash, including the pink and white Docrafts ones and the centre Craftime ones. I thought the three little lilac flowers at the bottom corner would counter balance the 60 at the top.

Colours are for Crafts4eternity R96:

Difficult to show the colours accurately in the photos - they look different in the two different attempts:

Crafting granddaughters

Our daughter-in-law and the girls came to visit yesterday. We had lunch and spent the afternoon together, bringing mum over for the last half an hour so that she could see her great grandchildren.

I've put an album of photos of facebook, but thought I'd show the crafting girls here - they spent lots of time in my craftroom, happily being creative:

CHNC challenge 97: use at least three patterned papers

It's getting nearer to Christmas now, so it's time to get on with those cards - of course, some people have been making them all through the year and have been joining in my CHNC challenges and other Christmas challenges too, but if you haven't, then why not join in now? For my CHNC challenge 97 I'm asking to see Christmas cards made by using at least three patterned papers.

For my card I used patterned papers from my Christmas offcuts box, some mounted on to pieces of glittered card. I stamped the Clarity 'We three kings' stamp with memento Paris dusk on to a piece of white glimmered card that was then mounted on to blue mirror card - all pieces used were offcuts, so this is for Pixie's crafty snippets 44 (just squeezing in before the gates close).

I based my card on the sketch given for Always playing with paper merry Monday 39:

I seem to have been using this stamp in the last week - only got it recently, but it's already one of my Christmas favourites and when I saw the challenge for Winter wonderland this week: 'While shepherds watched or we three kings' I just had to use it again. Stars etc and greeting are from stash.

Prancing reindeer

This is a Christmas card made with Anna Griffin supplies - I think it's from a kit I got a couple of years ago and there's still some of it left - seems to go on forever. I've shown similar cards before - there are so many background papers that are very similar, so it's just a variation on a theme, but I haven't done any of these for ages now. The background papers are very glittery.

Wise men still seek Him

For the past few days there seems to have been quite a theme developing in the cards I've made - clean and simple, no patterned paper, stamping and embossing ... and lots of wise men!

For this card I've used part of a stamp set I bought a while ago and still hadn't inked until this evening 'wisemen ornament' set by Heartfelt Creations. I inked with versamark and heat embossed with detail silver powder.

The card is much darker irl than on here - very difficult to get a photo with a flash with the sheen of the embossing and the glittery silver strip.

Once again, I was too impatient to bother to wait to press the card under a heavy box where the heat had warped it a bit (must remember to do so before I go to bed).

The tiny silver dots aren't stray embossing powder - they are little flecks of glitter that have now been wiped away.

This is another for today's A card a day and also for my own CHNC challenge 96: no patterned paper, also for:

Here they are again ...

... the three kings. While the stamp was out I thought I'd use it again - Clarity stamp inked with versafine onyx black and heat embossed with clear detail powder. This time I've coloured the image using Sakura glitter and metallic pens. Before I had copics etc I used to use Sakura a lot - I raved about them - but I have to confess that they have been neglected in a box in the drawer. It made a change to use them. The sentiment stamp is by Inkadinkado.

It's always difficult to get a photo of a white card - this is the best I can do and, unfortunately, it doesn't show up the gloss of the embossing now the metallic glittery look of the colouring.

This is my first card for A card a day and also for my own CHNC challenge 96: no patterned paper, also for:

We three kings ...

For this card I've used a stamp I recently bought from Clarity Stamps - I inked with versafine onyx black, stamped on to a snippet of white card and heat embossed with detail clear. The image was then layered on to a piece of black card from my offcuts box. So this is another card for Pixie's crafty snippets 44. I stamped the Kanban image directly down the side of the card, once more heat embossing.

This is for today's Card a Day (late in the date yet again!). It's also another one for my own CHNC challenge 96: no patterned paper (if you haven't yet joined in my challenge, please click on the link - I'd love to see you there).

I'm disappointed that I couldn't get a photo to show the shine achieved by the embossing.

CHNC challenge 96: no patterned paper

Christmas is getting ever nearer, so it might be a good time to join in my CHNC challenge 96 which this week has the theme of 'no patterned paper' - make any Christmas card you like, but don't use any patterned paper.

For my card I used an embossing folder to decorate the middle of my card blank and then brushed broken china distress ink over the embossed and surrounds using an inkalicious brush. I added some Paper Cellar silver glitter strips top and bottom, then inked some Wild Rose Studio snowflake stamps with versamark and heat embossed with detail silver powder.

This is a card for day 4 of Kathy's facebook A card a day

I'm sorry that the heat embossing has warped the card a bit so it needs to be flattened, but I didn't have time to do that when preparing this.

A touch of recycling ...

... when Ocado delivered my groceries yesterday there was a little booklet in with them - tbh didn't take much notice of it except the picture on the front which I chopped down to use on this card - just thought it was crying out to be recycled! The main picture was mounted on to an offcut of red mirror card and then mounted on to a 7 x 5 cardblank - job done! An early card for A card a day (facebook). It's also another one for my own CHNC challenge 95: black, white and one other colour if you wish (well, yes, I've cheated again because there really are two additional colours).

Box of note cards

The elements for making this box were included with the recent Hunkydory kit, so I've put it together in the hope that it might attract someone to buy it tomorrow evening.

The back of the box, as well as all the sides, are decorated as well. Inside there are six small square note cards and envelopes. Good job I found some velcro in my adhesives box because there was none in the kit as there should have been.

Six quick cards

A few more cards for tomorrow evening's sale - and six more for A card a day (facebook), using Hunkydory supplies. The inner piece fills the aperture when closed.

No real crafting involved, but it's another six done.

Postman came the other day with a Splodge Away mat, some stamps from Clarity Stamps and a few new ink pads and I'm really wanting to play with them, but need to get tomorrow evening out of the way first ... patience!!
