A quick and simple card made with some Hunkydory card and a Lili of the Valley art pad picture edged with a red copic. The sentiment circle is from Craftwork cards and says 'From our house to yours'.

CHNC challenge 157: starting all over again?

I wonder if you were in a bit of a panic towards the end of the year, realising that you needed to get on and quickly make Christmas cards? Why not make the resolution this coming year to make Christmas cards throughout the year to ease the panic later on. I'd love you to join in my Christmas challenge blogs - CHNC challenge 157 starts today (click on the link to find out about it) and there is still the December challenge on CHNC challenge extra blog - and the January challenge will obviously be going up soon - this is always  'anything goes' as long as it's Christmas.

Back to today's CHNC challenge 157 - this week I'd like to see any Christmas cards that you've made at the last minute or made earlier, but didn't have a chance to blog - or new cards that you have made to get ahead for next Christmas - it is never too early!!

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 9: Vintage glitter and sparkle

This is my design card for today's Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 9: vintage glitter and sparkle. I've used the 1920's Winter Abbey image kindly supplied by Lacy Sunshine, who are sponsoring the challenge. Please click on the challenge link to see the lovely creations of the rest of the design team - and please join in with your own vintage glitter and sparkle.

The background is some Hunkydory foiled mirror card mounted on to some gold mirror card, then on to a kraft card blank. The image was coloured with spectrum noir pens and fired brick distress stickles was added to the fluffy collar and cuffs - sadly, it doesn't really show here. I tore round an oval perspex template and brushed the torn edges with fired brick distress ink, doing the same with the larger torn oval of embossed paisley (this was from an Embossalicious folder run through the eBosser on a piece of pearlescent pink card). Flowers are prima, with two spotted here and there with the fired brick stickles. The band of glittered netting on the left is an offcut that has been lurking in a ribbon box for some time (still have a small cutting that I'll try and use at some point).

Happy Christmas

A card simply depicting one of the wise men bearing a gift for Jesus.

In less than an hour in the UK (and I know that in some parts of the world Christmas began much earlier) it will be Christmas morning, when we celebrate the birth of Jesus. Among all the festivities, less us not forget that we are celebrating the birthday of Jesus Christ, who came to be Saviour.

Happy Christmas to all who happen to come and look at my blog. Thanks for the tremendous support during another year.

Well, would you believe that by the time CHNC challenge 156 finished, Christmas will be over?!?! I don't know about you, but I found myself having to make some last minute cards despite making Christmas cards throughout the year. Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge : white Christmas

Oh dear ... just before I made my design card for today's new Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 8. When I started my card I remembered (so I thought!) that the theme was 'white on white' ... there was no doubt in my mind really ... so I got out lots of white stuff to play around and see what I wanted to create, using a Lacy Sunshine image that had kindly been supplied (they are the sponsors of this challenge), 'Emily - winter wonderland, and I thought that for a change I would make a birthday card rather than a Christmas card. Well, when the card was finished and the photo taken, I prepared to send it ready for the challenge and discovered that the actual theme was 'white Christmas' - oh dear! So, big apologies that it isn't exactly 'white Christmas', but it's a white on white Christmas birthday card.

I coloured the image very lightly with some flexmarkers, tearing around a perspex oval and inking the torn edges with one of the flexmarkers. I used some pieces of offcuts taken from embossed pieces of pearlescent card that had originally been run through the eBosser with Embossalicious folders. I cut into the swirls of one of the embossed pieces to house the oval. Flowers are craftime.

As is usual when trying to capture white cards, it was difficult to get an adequate photo - in trying to show the white sufficiently, the flexmarker colouring isn't really showing.

For this design team card for the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 75, week 2, I've used the Vintage Image Craft 'Here we come a-carolling' mounting this on to gold mirror card. Papers are My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas, gold spotted washi tape was from Paperchase and the flowers are prima.

More skating fun

This is another card for the CCC challenge for this fortnight chosen by Sue W: Get your skates on - Christmas is coming.

This is another simple card (they need to be at this stage of December with not much time left) using some Authentique 'peaceful' papers and a glittered picture from a load that I bought as a kit some time ago (one of those that seemed a good idea at the time ...) - same picture as the previous card, just a smaller version. The sentiment is from the same kit.

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 7: gatefold

This is my design card for today's Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 7: gatefold card. This is sponsored by Robyn's Fetish stamps and more and also Lacy Sunshine.

For my card I've used the 'home for the holidays' snowman image kindly supplied by Robyn's Fetish. I coloured with spectrum noir pens. and mounted on  to a piece of Echo park 'winter wishes' paper in the centre of the card. I embossed some card for the fronts with a dotty folder run through my eBosser and brushed it with broken china distressed ink and added some punched snowflakes and the 'from our house to yours' sentiment.

This is also for Daring cardmakers: Christmas movie quote: The Snowman: 'I remember that winter because it had brought the heaviest snows I had ever seen. Snow had fallen steadily all night long and in the morning I woke in a room filled with light and silence, the world seemed to be held in a dream-like stillness. It was a magical day... [brief pause] ...and it was on that day I made the snowman.'

The cheerful stamp pad challenge 75: signs of Christmas

This is my design team card for today's Cheerful stamp pad challenge 75: signs of Christmas. This challenge is being sponsored by Vintage Image Craft who have the most amazing images. They have a facebook page here where you can download some of their images for free.

For this card I've used the lovely Vintage Image Craft ' 'mistletoe ensemble' image. For the background I secured some vellum on to gold mirror card with brads and added an Anna Griffin sentiment panel, all mounted on to a red card blank to use traditional Christmas colours of red, green and gold.  This was based on the sketch given for Moving along with the times: time to get sketchy:

The Glory of Christmas 22: snow

This is my design card for The Glory of Christmas 22: snow. Please click on the link and see the other lovely creations and join in with the challenge.

I've used an A5 landscape opening black card blank, cutting away some of the right hand piece of the front. I embossed silver mirror card using the 8 x 8 Embossalicious 'star of wonder' embossing folder with my eBosser. Ribbon with gems is from Hobbycraft.

I inked the IndigoBlu 'stag night' stamp with Elzybells sugar candy pigment inkpad on to black card heat embossing with detail white powder. I then tore round the black card, mounted on to white and tore around that before sticking on to the front of the card slightly overlapping on the right hand side.  I won a £20 voucher for the Lisa B Designs October challenge and the 'stag night' stamp was one of the items I chose, along with the 'bare forest' IndigoBlu stamp and Vive la Plume by June Gill.
