CHNC challenge 264: cute

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 264: cute (or anything goes as long as it's Christmas).

I've used Robyn's Fetish Christmas ginger cutie kindly supplied by them as one of this week's sponsors, colouring with spectrum noir pens, cutting out and mounting on to a couple of die cut mats using some lovely foiled papers I've had for a long time, finally on to a piece of of gingerbread people paper from a Cosy Christmas collection, mounting on to the background paper with the gingerbread houses, again from the Cosy Christmas collection. The die cuts were made using X cut parenthesis rectangle dies. The ribbon was from Crafty Ribbons and felt buttons from Poundland. The chipboard candy cane is one that's been in my Christmas box for ages.

CHNC challenge extra for January mid-month

I'm wondering how it can possibly already be nearly halfway though January, but it is time for our mid-month inspiration for CHNC challenge extra for January 2016. If you click on the link you will see the wonderland designs by ladies on the DT which are indeed an inspiration - I hope that you will want to join us by making Christmas creations - yes, I know it's early in the year, but it saves the panic towards the end of the year. And besides that ... I love making Christmas cards!

For my card I used Charmed cards and crafts Dottie and George Christmas downloads (I bought a set of these - and many more besides - but I haven't used any of these for a long time ... I do love them). I decided to keep the background quite clean apart from the offcut of blue card and the silver glitter strip. The image has been matted on to a Kanban topper and three Hobbycraft snowflakes added - these are rippled, which doesn't show up here.

The image is Star Stampz winter kiss - Star Stampz are sponsoring Fan-tastic Tuesday 119 - I thought these two looked warm and cosy. I coloured with spectrum noir pens and mounted on to an offcut of deep pink mirror card. The background and the piece of card down the side were from my Christmas offcuts box and the glittered strips were left over pieces (another occasion of not using a full strip beneath the image).

CHNC challenge 263: another red card

The challenge for CHNC 263 this week is to use the colour red ... a little or a lot (every second Saturday in the month is going to be a colour challenge this year).

For my second card I have used Stitchy Bear's Digi Outlet Kaz Kraftz Christmas stocking, coloured with spectrum noir pens, kindly supplied by another of our sponsors this week (I tried and tried to get a betterphoto, but couldn't - it looks as if the card is crooked, but it isn't).  I used offcut pieces that I found in my Christmas box, including the paper piecing on the stocking imag - the glittered silver strips were also snippets, not having a full length to go all the way across. The 'fur' on the top of the stocking has been glittered with stickles crystal ice:

Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 112

This is my design card for Suzy Bee's  Bloomin' challenge 112: anything goes with a twist ... it's bloomin' cold out there - please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in our challenge - it doesn't have to be for Christmas ... just depicting 'cold'!

The background picture is one that I rescued from a magazine or advertising leaflet (can't really remember, but I kept it because I thought it was too good to put in the paper recycling bin). I stamped the lovely Stampotique snowman by Jo Capper-Sandon, colouring with spectrum noir pens and cutting out carefully, spraying with stick and stay to place it on the main picture. The sentiment is one I've had for ages. I mounted everything on to a shiny black piece of card - unfortunately, you can't see any of the shine here.

Let's craft and create challenge 109: layer it up

I embossed a piece of Core'dinations card using an Embossalicious music embossing folder, sanding the embossing to reveal the core colour. The striped paper is an old piece of The English Paper Company Airy Fairy on to which I stamped one of my favourite Penny Black stamps inked with ColorBox purple and then heat embossed with clear detail powder. The two strips of washi tape were from The Works, the flowers from Poundland and a Hunkydory sentiment label.

More Mixed Media challenge: blue

I feel really privileged to be on the design team for More Mixed Media challenges, although I feel very inadequate for the task.

Well its finally here the start of this new challenge blog and our very 1st challenge for you is any shades of "Blue".

We would like to see some where on your project a shade of Blue for this challenge so it could be the main focal colour or just a hint of the colour some where on your creation.

We would love to see your mixed media work, project life spreads, digital layouts, scrap-booking, pocket letters, up-cycled projects etc. Even though we are a mixed media challenge we dont want to leave anyone out so you can enter with your traditional paper/card layouts so long as we can see the colour for each challenge.

This is my canvas for More Mixed Media challenge: blue, using Spectrum Noir Aqua tints inks and various stencils and stamps, as well as some Pebeo silver gilding wax and white opal liquid pearls. Stencils are Creative Expressions Birch Trees and Sheena Douglass Deer. Snowflake stamps are Inkadinkado

I was really out of my comfort zone doing this (and it shows in the result), but I'm still very glad to have this opportunity. I will try hard to produce something better for next months' More Mixed Media challenge.

Easel card for The Glory of Christmas challenge 75

This is my design card for The Glory of Christmas challenge 75: easel card - or anything goes as long as it's Christmas. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of others in the team and we would love to see you entries.

I used papers from the DCWV Christmas glitter pad (these are absolutely lovely and the beauty is that the glitter doesn't shed). I decided to make a twisted easel, using some silver rhinestones and some corrugated card for the 'stopper' across the middle - a row of larger rhinestones beneath the corrugated card.The image is The Stamping Boutique Christmas mouse (I love this). A few Hobbycraft poinsettias and the Happy Christmas banner on the corrugated card and the card was done.

For this card I used a lovely vintage Christmas image supplied by Dazzling Ace Designs, one of the new sponsors at CHNC. I mounted this on to a piece of gold mirror card, with a very narrow border. The foiled checked card on the left and the piece of paper on the right were from my Christmas offcuts box, as was the gold mirror to mat the image. A bit more time to craft January challenge

I've used 'peachy pink fairy' digi by Ching Chou Kuik colouring with spectrum noir pens., with Art Institute glitter with quickie glue pen on to the wings. This was cut out with a deckle edged nestie die and brushed on the edges with distress ink and mounted on to a piece of stenciled paper made with my gelli plate. The background paper is one of Lozzy's 'fun' ones.

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper January challenge

It's a new month of a new year and time for Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper January challenge - please click on the link to see the beautiful designs by the rest of the team - and we would love you to join in our challenge - to enter, all you need to do is to use some patterned paper on your creation.

This is the card I made for John's birthday (30 December - one of those awkward ones that's too near Christmas!). I used a piece of Donna Ingemanson's rough & tumble across the middle, the other papers from Amy Butler's faded china - all by K & Co - I've had these paper pads for years so it's about time some got used!

I based the card on the sketch given for Sweet Sunday sketch 300:

using an 8 x 8 card blank.

The sentiment label is from Kanban, other bits and pieces from stash.

CHNC challenge extra for January

This is my card for CHNC challenge extra for January - where you are challenged to start over again with your Christmas designs ... you'll be grateful when you get towards the end of the year and begin to panic!

I used the lovely AKV Nativity - wiseman 1, 2 and 3 by Bugaboo Stamps, sponsor of the challenge, colouring with spectrum noir, mounting on gold card and then on to a piece of Kanban card, with a glittered strip across the bottom.

This is my card for CHNC challenge 261: anything goes as long as it's Christmas. I hope you all had a good Christmas Day and that you continue to enjoy the festivities. If you have time during the coming week I'd love to see more of your festive makes, whether they are ones that you made before Christmas and didn't have time to show, or whether perhaps you can't resist using some of your Christmas craft stuff to make something new. This is a very glittery card, using some DCWV paper as the background, an oval image that I've had for ages (had a whole load of them ... still lots left), and a piece of glittered strip.
