Roses for Rose

This card is to give to Rose tomorrow. Rose is a resident in the block of retirement flats where we now live and, sadly, she is moving into a care home. So tomorrow there is a tea to wish her well and I thought a card with roses on would be appropriate for her.

The papers were in a pack that I've had for a long while - I've got no idea where they came from. The foiled roses were given to me by Donna Carroll, a crafting friend on facebook who foiled and die cut the roses using her todo. Other bits and pieces from stash.

Decoupaged 90th birthday card

This was a commissioned card for a 90th birthday for a lady with limited sight, so I used decoupaged flowers so there's something to feel as well as bold colours to see. The sentiment was created on computer and printed and cut with a todo decorative oval die, distressing with worn lipstick distress ink before removing from the die. This is an 8 x 8 card. The striped panel on the left is some lovely sparkly ribbon that I've had for ages.

This is an 8 x 8 card, using Hunkydory pictures (one split into three), background paper from Docrafts Persimmon collection, a piece of glittered red ribbon overlain with anchor grosgrain ribbon, with a couple of Express Youself stick-on decorations.

Let's craft and create challenge 115

This is my design card for Let's craft and create 115: our four-legged friends - please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and we hope you will join in our challenge.

I was asked to make this card for a friend to give to her mum - she said that she loved bright colours and animals, wild ones in particular, so I used this lovely 'fun in the jungle' digital image from Stitchy Bear's digi outlet, colouring with spectrum noir pens.  When printed, the image was cut out on my Scan n cut and mounted on to an offcut piece of red paper. I thought the offcut piece of spotted background paper gave a bit more brightness and I added a snippet strip of animalprint paper wrapped with the paw print grosgrain ribbon with some glitter strips on the sides. The little circles are mini shakers from Paperrchase. Although it's difficult to see the sentiment says 'Happy Birthday Mum' and the numerals are gold foiled.

More mixed media July challenge

This is my design canvas for More mixed media July challenge: anything goes + optional pastel colours.

I made the background of the canvas (about 12" x 16") with a mix of white gesso and various acrylic paints. The two corner pieces were left over form a card from a set bought long ago.

I used two That's Crafty stencils, randomly dabbing the top one with sparkle medium champagne and the bottom one with sparkle medium cinnamon. I inked the Just Rite cling Fleuriste Newsprint background stamp with versafine onyx black and stamped on to a piece of white tissue paper. I then wetted around it with a paintbrush to tear and adhered to the canvas with mod podge.

Flowers from Hobbycraft, the white ones touched with some of the cinnamon and champagne sparkle medium.

Baby shower best wishes

I was asked to make a card for a baby shower - wasn't really sure what to make (neither was the person who was asking me). Anyway, this is what I did in the end using some K & Co paper and matching pieces, a Jolee's mini babygrow (just like the real thing) on a wire hanger, the BABY sign and the greeting that I printed from computer.

Going for golf at 70

80th birthday card

This card was made for one of the ladies in John's blind bowling club. The background is taken from a photo of Danson Park bowling green, where the club plays in the summer months. The bowls lady was stamped with a Personal Impressions stamp for Paper Nation, colouring with spectrum noir pens and cutting out on my Scan n cut. Stitched ribbon, sentiment and numbers from stash.

Sympathy card for A bit more time to craft challenge 23

Sadly, I needed to make a sympathy card, so I used one of Lozzy's lovely mixed media papers printed out and stamped with one of my favourites, Penny Black's sparklers inked with memento grape jelly. The sentiment stamp is one designed by Lynn Lockwood simply entitled 'our thoughts'.

I kept this simple because I think that's much better for a condolence card.

CHNC challenge extra for July

It doesn't seem possible that we are now nearer to Christmas 2016 than 2015. I started my Christmas challenge blogs a few years ago to help to spread the task of making Christmas cards throughout the year - I'm so glad I did and am grateful to all those who enter the challenges sharing their lovely festive crafting. If you haven't started Christmas designs yet, perhaps now is the right time to do so and join in the fun at CHNC challenge extra for July - I'd love to see you there.

For my card I used an unknown piece of paper for the base on this side opening A5 card, wrapping the sentiment ribbon around. The image is Christmas mouse - cocoa, kindly supplied by Bugaboo Stamps, the sponsor of the challenge - a randomly chosen winner will receive $21 worth of digital stamps.

I coloured the image with spectrum noir pens and mounted on to an offcut of pink patterned paper. The doiley shape was rescued and upcycled from an old Christmas card received and some Hobbycraft flowers added.

This is my card for my Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper July challenge. I've used papers and other elements from Trimcraft 'A beautiful life' - one of the paper pads and a few matching extras will be sent to the randomly chosen winner of the challenge. All you have to do to enter is to make something (it needed be a card if you want to make something different) using some patterned paper - and you can enter as many times as you wish.

The image in the wooden frame was stamped using the Hero Arts 'gracious lady', coloured with promarkers. The only thing that isn't from the 'A beautiful life' set is the birthday greeting label from Kanban.
