Birthday buttons

Atm I'm hooked on making cards based on sketch challenges - definitely helping me to get on and make some cards in between life  - lol!

This is for Try stamping -or not - on Tuesday sketch 368:

The 'topper' started off life long ago as an ATC I did for a swap - we used to send within a group, so we always kept one for ourself - hence I still had this one - it already have the Stampington antique buttons inked in stazon red, with the surrounding edges brushed with fired brick distress ink. Buttons were added.

Today I stamped the little Hero Arts 'Have a wonderful birthday' and added the piece of ribbon with hand-tied bow. Background card is Hunkydory.

Colours are for Double D: teal and red colour - unfortunately, the photo or my card has made the red look more pink than irl.

This is for the sketch for CAS(E) this sketch 276:

I stamped randomly using a little set of circular patterned stamps inked with stazon in the following colours: claret, gothic purple, ultramarine, teal blue and pumpkin. Sentiment stamp was from Hobbycraft inked with stazon gothic purple.

Art Deco birthday

This is for the sketch on MFT sketch 389:

The background paper is from a Tattered Lace magazine and the picture is upcycled from the cover of a notebook. I wish the photo could show the bling ribbon as it is irl. Three pearls added here and there.

Belated birthday wishes

This is for Freshly made sketches 341:

I coloured the large circles with Spectrum noir Amethyst, adding the scalloped ones and flowers from Hobbycraft. It's always handy to have a belated birthday card ... just in case.

CHNC challenge 390

This is my card for my CHNC challenge 390 -  please click on the link to find out what it's all about and I hope you'll be able to join in with your Christmas designs - anything goes as long as it's Christmas with the optional theme of 'non-traditional colours".

The lovely topper was rescued and upcycled from a card received last Christmas, matted on to a large copper tag on to some Hunkydory patterned card, with the addition of some snowflakes and the 'scrabble' letters.

Summertime birthday

I'm really not sure how I'm fitting in crafting when I really haven't got much spare time, but I seem to be making cards at odd times when I can. About ten days ago I decided to blog quite a few cards that I'd made, but not shown, having little time to do so. Having done that, I've got spurred on to make and show more cards.

I hadn't entered any sketch challenges for ages and ages, but I'm now on a bit of a roll, finding various ones and making cards for them. I'm enjoying doing this because it is prompting me to make various styles of card that perhaps I wouldn't have done without the sketches.

So, this card is for Tuesday morning sketches 457:

I used some decoupage bits to layer on to a die cut oval with scallops. The background paper was from my offcuts box. Sticky ribbon with gems was from Poundland (why does it look crooked in the photo when it doesn't irl? - lol!)  The  epoxy flourish was from Flourish with a bling (Australia) Jack, forest green.

This is based on the sketch for Stamp ink paper 154:

I inked the lovely Penny Black wind caressed stamp with stazon jet black and coloured part of the papers with a pink and a yellow spectrum noir. I used the Tim Holtz stampers anonymous script stamp (same as in the previous post) while it was still  out on my desk. The card trim across the bottom is an unknown piece that's been lurking for some time and needed to be used.

Just purple

This is for the sketch for CAS colours & sketches 276 (with a sentiment added across the top):

I stamped the Penny Black butterfly edge inked with stazon gothic purple (unfortunately, looks more like black in the photo, but is a deep purple) and overstamped using the Tim Holz Stampers Anonymous script stamp inked with memento grape jelly, using this also to ink the Anita's sentiment stamp.

I've come to the conclusion that it's just as hard to get a photo of a fairly deep purple as it is to get a good photo of white - lol!

The stamp is one that I bought some time ago and hadn't even inked, so I used jet black stazon and coloured with spectrum pencils. The sentiment is from Papermania bauble Christmas, again inked with jet black stazon.

I have a few very pretty envelopes, but I know that I'll never use them as envelopes, so I decided to cut up a couple of them for this card, with the help of a couple of scraps and some Dovecraft nature's grace puffy stickers

Wedding card

This is a wedding card for the sketch time on Sunday stamps 180:

I turned the sketch to the right. I used a grey card blank on to which I layered a piece of Vintage vellum embroidery by inspire me papers (difficult to see in a photo).The middle paper is a cutting from Best Creation Inc Mr & Mrs glitter paper. I used a piece of open weave ribbon for the chevron wrapped with some eyelash trim, which the image layered over this.

The image was stamped with versamark using a lovely old Anita stamp that I've had for years and heat embossed with gold powder, colouring the man's jacket and their faces with promarker flexmarkers. I tore round a perspex oval.

For the graduate

This is a commissioned card for a graduate. Part of the card is cannibalised from a card I made some years ago and never used, so bits are upcycled on to this one, addition glittered strip, offcut paper, Anna Griffin sentiment pieces and the chipboard and button flowers.

WOYWW 472

Having returned to What's on your workdesk Wednesday, having been missing for quite a time, I'm determined to take part again this week.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, the head over to WOYWW 472 at Julia's lovely blog and find out ... and I hope you'll join in the fun.

There isn't much of interest on my desk today .. just the remains of making a couple of cards yesterday that were blogged and a few bits of paper left out and another Santoro decoupage  kit waiting to be put together. In an hour or two there probably won't be much actual desk seen because I'll probably have stuff all over the place.

However, someone who commented on my post made for last week's snoop around, mentioned storage of wooden stamps and it made me realise that, although I'd shown most of my craft stuff I hadn't actually opened and shown the drawers where I keep embossing powders, etc ... and also lots of wooden stamps: And I have a supply of pens on top of the chest of drawers:

I have a shelf above a couple of my trolleys that house some really useful boxes, which is a nice way of displaying some of my stamps.

I also have a couple of boxes that house some smaller wooden stamps.

I remember a few years ago, when I started to buy more and more unmounted stamps, I said that was the way to go because they take up far less space and that I wouldn't be buying any more wooden stamps ... well that decision didn't last because my collection has definitely continued to grow ... I just love them.

Santoro decoupage

This card is based on the sketch for Feeling sketchy 194:

Background papers are offcuts from Hot off the Press papers that have been around in my stash for some years. They were just the right colours for the lovely Santoro decoupage kit that I bought recently from The Works. Ribbons and flowers with pearls from Hobbycraft finished the card off, with the Happy Birthday sentiment.

Girl about town

This card is for the sketch on MFT 388:

The tag showed a Charmed download called Girl about town: Louise. This was coloured with copics and shine added by going over the image with a clear embossing pen and heating with clear powder. Background papers are from my offcuts box - much brighter irl - foiled and very shiny.

For surprise challenge 28

This card is for the sketch on The Color Sisters surprise challenge 28:

The card was made with bits and pieces from stash - an offcut piece of black card on to white card blank, with strips of Anita's raised gold with a piece of black striped card with black white and gold foiling (sadly, doesn't show the gold because of reflection). This was raised up with a strip of adhesive foam.

Irl the sentiment doesn't look crooked like it seems to be in the picture ... and they say the camera never lies - lol! The sentiment, backed with black card was raised up with adhesive foam.

I used an offcut piece of DCWV paper that I've had for a long while, adding the little topper that was printed, coloured and die cut on my Scan n Cut (sadly, can't remember where I got the digital image originally). The sentiment is a stamp from Hobbycraft inked with Stazon.

Ladies night out

Most of the cards I've shown over the past week are ones that I made beforehand, mainly for commissions and hadn't had time to blog.

It's been quite a long time since I used a sketch challenge, so this evening I thought I'd make a card for Sketch Saturday 517:

I used an offcut piece of Anna Griffin paper for the background, with a strip of glittered silver and a sentiment. I stamped the lovely "A night in Paris" Stamp-it image by Elizabeth, inked with Paris dusk memento on  to a scrap piece of K & Co paper from long ago, colouring with spectrum noir pens. I tore around a perspex oval and used a spectrum to colour the torn edge.

Having bought the stamp a few months ago, this is the first time I've used it, hence this is also for CCEE 1823: virgin stamp.
