It's cold outside

This is my design card for today's Sweet Pea Stampers challenge: it's cold outside.  Please click on the link and see the wonderful creations of the rest of the team - and please join in the challenge - there's always a voucher to be won!

The image is 'snow fae' by Rachel Anderson. I printed this digital image on some light aqua card and then brushed over it with a mix of peacock feathers and broken china distress inks.

I used a couple of offcut strips of aqua/turquoise mirror card on the sides with an embossed piece of card brushed with the distressed inks in the middle - I used the A4 'star of wonder' Embossalicious embossing folder with my eBosser. Ribbon with gems was from Hobbycraft. Snowflakes were punched from scraps.

It is do difficult to get a photo of a card that has mirror card on it - I tried and tried and this is the best I could do. Unfortunately, it doesn't show the image as well as it is in real life.You need to look at it 'head on' to see it clearly.

Silent night, holy night

This is another design team inspiration card for the Glory of Christmas 21: turquoise and brown. The background is a piece of Kanban striped card on to which I've layered a piece of brown ribbon that was upcycled from a box received, matted on to an offcut of gingham card. The image was rescued from a Christmas card received a couple of years ago.

This time I decided to decorate my craft room window.

I used Floppy Latte 'angel' digital image, printed on to a sheet of heat resistant acetate and then quickly heat embossed with clear powder. I then used alcohol inks to colour - butterscotch, terra cotta and currant. This 'stained glass' angel now decorates the window of my craft room.

Stocking friends

This gate fold card is my third design creation for Christmas cards all year round December, where the theme is 'Christmas stockings'. The background card used on the fronts is from an old Kanban kit and the inside card and other elements are from the Hunkydory 'stocking friends' from the Snowy Days kit.

Simply Christmas stockings

Christmas cards all year round December: Christmas stockings

It's nearly time to hang up those stockings for Santa to fill them - that's of you've been good enough - lol! The December challenge on Christmas cards all year  round is all about Christmas stockings. This is my first design card, using elements from Hunkydory Classic Christmas 'Christmas stockings' set. I've used one of the remaining offcuts of the lovely glittery holly ribbon that I bought some time ago - it will be a shame when this has all gone (think I have just one piece left).

The theme for this fortnight's challenge for the Christmas Card Club is 'oh Christmas tree'. I've made five clean and simple cards using pictures from Art pad 14: festive foliage by Lili of the Valley. CHNC challenge 153: light it up

It's almost December, so, if you haven't made those Christmas cards yet, it really is time to get serious ... and perhaps my CHNC challenge 153 will help you - please click on the link and join in ... and, as usual, there are some great prizes to be won.

For my card I used the lamppost digital image supplied by one of the sponsors, Cedar Chest Designs, stamping alongside with 'caroling penguins' by Penny Black, colouring with copics. This was then mounted on to a piece of red mirror card with just the addition of a Craftwork cards sentiment, all matted on a gold card blank.

Haiku poem

The challenge for Collage obsession today is to create a Haiku poem and combine with an illustration. The poem needs to have 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third.

The Cheerful Stamp Pad challenge 74: let's decorate

This is my design card for the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 74: let's decorate. This challenge is being sponsored by Floppy latte and I have used one of their digital images, 'Christmas prayer silhouette', coloured with copics. I decorated my card with 16 different pieces of ribbon stuck diagonally to a piece of card, mounting on to a piece of red mirror card and then on to gold. The image was matted on to red mirror card. Some glittered flowers with prima gold spacers were then added.

This was based on the sketch given for Unscripted 232, which I turned to the right:

Because of the reflection of the flash on the mirror card it was difficult to get a good photo - this is the best I could achieve - the card looks so much better in real life.

Christmas card for a child

This is my design card for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 4: buttons. The challenge is being sponsored by Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and more and I have used one of their images called 'Carl the snowman'. I coloured this with promarkers and flexmarkers and cut out with a scalloped circle nestie die.  The background card and the striped and spotty strip down are from an old Kanban kit, the sentiment circle is Craftwork cards and the piece of checked paper was from a magazine freebie. I've added three odd buttons to the snowman.

I based the card on the Sweet Sunday sketch 197:

The background paper is My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Christmas, on to which I stamped the Tin Can Mail angels stamp inked with Adirondack currant, adding a forgotten flower and a few prima spacers.

Pink Christmas

It's time for a challenge for the Christmas Card Club and Carol has chosen the theme: 'pretty in pink'. I've used some papers and silver mirror card that were in my Christmas offcuts box along with a Kanban topper from a kit bought long ago. I can remember a time when I used fibres, but haven't done so for ages, but I dug out this pink sparkly eyelash one that was just right for the sketch I wanted to use (I thought of using twine, but I didn't have any pink).

I based the card on the sketch given for Deconstructed 127:

The photo had to be taken with flash - I either had to settle for this or have one that reflected on all the silver and some of it then looked gold instead - will perhaps get a better photo in daylight. The sentiment oval looks very dull here, but is bright in real life.
