Let's craft and create challenge 101: anything goes male

This is my design card for Let's craft and create challenge 101. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and we would love to see your entries for the challenge.

This month's sponsor for Let's craft and create is

The prize is any 3 sets of your choice from The Cutting Café.

The Cutting Café provided the DT with various templates to use and I chose to use those for a classic car shaped card, converting the svg files with Brother canvas to cut using my Scan n Cut. I used some DCWV textured card and also some smokey grey mirror card, as well as some plain black card.

The sticking together was quite fiddly, but I got there in the end!

This is my design card for Fan-tastic Tuesday challenge 84: anything goes with a twist ... use pastel colours. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and we would love to see your entries for the challenge.

I used Sassy Studio Designs snow queen portrait (Think it works just as well for spring/summer as winter) colouring digitally using Microsoft Paint and fussy cutting around the image before mounting on to a piece of Buckwells Crafts 'checkout' digital printed paper, matting this on to a piece of textured lemon DCWV card die cut using one of the Spellbinders marvelous squares. The background card is DCWV from an old summer range - the white flowers are lovely and shiny. Flower ribbon, sentiment and gems from stash.

The cheerful stamp pad challenge 110 second week

This is my design card for the Cheerful stamp pad challenge 110 second week, which is all about owls. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge here.

For my card I used Concetta Kilmer's 'owl hearts' Sweet Pea digital image keeping the colouring to sepia tones, including a little distress sponging around the edges before tearing around a perspex oval template and using an offcut of brown card with a larger template to back the image. The background paper is actually from My Mind's Eye lost and found Christmas, but I think it can be used for occasions other than Christmas. This was wrapped in the centre by some lovely natural jute from Poundland, with  maroon offcut down the centre that matches the background, finishing with some lovely textured natural canvas and cork flowers, again from Poundland.

The glory of Christmas 58: focus on the sentiment

This is my design card for the Glory of Christmas challenge 58: focus on the sentiment. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

The card blank is a lovely deep blue stardream that has a glittery look according to how the light shines on it. I used an offcut of Echo park 'winter time' patterned paper to stamp the Joy to the world Clarity stamp, inked with Adirondack denim. I then masked off the O and stamped the Clarity carol singers stamp, again using the denim ink. The strip behind the ribbon is a snippet left from printing some Ooh la la digital paper long ago, which I think goes just right with the other paper. Ribbon and felt buttons from stash.

CHNC challenge 227

It's Saturday again and time for CHNC challenge 227: girly - and this week I'd like you to make a girly Christmas creation - either featuring a female or suitable for a female to receive.

For my card I've used a girly image resulting in a card that I think would be fine to give to a female. I used the Indigo Blu Rebecca snow queen mounting on to an offcut of red mirror card. The card blank is a black A5 size opening landscape, so I cut off a piece on the right so that I could put a patterned paper inside that would show (an unknown paper from my stack of Christmas papers). The paper used on the outside of the card is My Mind's Eye Bohemia Christmas 'believe' stripe paper.

Suzy See's Bloomin' challenge 78

This is my design card for Suzy Bee's Bloomin' challenge 78: anything goes with a twist ... no patterned paper. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

For my card I used Sassy Studio Design's Little Honey's tinkerbell image (Sassy Studio Designs are the sponsors of the challenge) - this was digitally coloured and mounted on to a small offcut of mirror card. The large background is a piece of Curious Particles midnight star card embossed using the hessian embossing folder (one of the Crafter's Companion textures range) and the smaller embossed card was created with an embossalicious folder, both run through the eBosser. The flower was from Hobbycraft and ribbon and sentiment from stash.

Not a good photo, but I'd left the card till the last day and wanted to take the photo while the light was reasonable.

Buckwell Crafts challenge 8: spots or stripes or both

This is my design card for Buckwell Crafts challenge 8: spots or stripes or both. Please click on the link to see the lovely crafting of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

I've used A Lil Digi Heaven 'beach lounger', kindly supplied by one of the challenge sponsor. Lozzy will also be giving Micro Dots Digi Papers and Checkout Digi Papers to two winners.

Unfortunately, the idea that I had for my card was better in my head than the finished result. I used drawing gun to cover up the image while I brushed Spectrum Noir aqua tints across the piece of card. This is the first time I had used drawing gum, so the result was far from perfect and I'm still trying to get better results with the aquatints ... I should have given myself more time. I apologise to Lozzy and my teamies for my poor effort.

I coloured the image with Spectrum noir pens, including putting the spots and stripes on the beach loungers.

The yellow ink for the sand was mixed with a bit of gold, so in real life there is a lovely shimmer.

CHNC challenge extra for May

It doesn't seem possible that four months of the year have gone already and it's time to start the CHNC challenge extra for May. The image is Little penguin winter - decorate tree by Bugaboo Stamps, who are the sponsors of the challenge. I coloured with Spectrum Noir pens and die cut using an X cut parenthesis rectangular die, using a larger one for the green mat. I distressed slightly with stormy sky ink. These and the sentiment were mounted on to clear acetate with white snow spots, which was then matted on to red card. It's impossible here to see that there is a layer of acetate - had to avoid reflection with the photo.

Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper May challenge

This is my card for Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper May challenge - if you haven't discovered this challenge blog yet, please hop on over there and get using some of your hoarded patterned paper. For those who already know about the blog, please note that there is a change of rule: From now on you may enter any creation on which patterned paper has been used - you are no longer required to completely cover the creation with patterned paper, as long as you use some on your creation, obviously the more, the better.

For my card I used some of the Crafts House Alllsorts paper (not from the prize pack, from another one!), using one of my favourite wedding stamps by Anita, inking with versamark and heat embossing with Wow! metallic rich super fine gold powder. I added a bit of colouring here and there with spectrum noir pens. The organza ribbon with gems was from Hobbycraft - I was able to use up a couple of snippets of it behind the bride and groom - it isn't one continuous piece of ribbon. Sentiment panel and Wedding Day wishes have been in my stash for ages.

April Rudolph Day

I've made this card for April Rudolph Day run by the lovely Maureen. The background is a patterned card by Imagination Crafts on to which I added some stamped snowflakes and the lovely Anna Griffin sentiment with holly, inking everything with Elzybells sugar candy pigment inkpad and then heat embossing with detail white powder. It's  difficult to see the shine of the heat embossing here, but it's much more prominent irl. This is mounted on to a sparkly stardream deep blue card blank.

CHNC challenge 226: 20 minutes or less

For my CHNC challlenge 226 that starts today I'm asking to see Christmas creations that were made within 20 minutes or less.

My card was made in about 17 minutes - that included choosing the Hunkydory pictures I wanted to use, cutting to size etc - part of the time was taken up trying to find my favourite scissors to fussy cut around the arched picture so that everything fitted together. This is an A5 card opening tent style.

I based my card on the sketch given for the current Jingle Belles challenge (always like to support as many other Christmas challenge blogs as I can):

I used the Lacy Sunshine winter Emily image kindly supplied by the sponsor of the challenge. I coloured with Spectrum noir pencils (my first time of using these) and added Art Institute fine glitter to quickie glue pen on the 'fur'.

Papers are The English Paper Company 'airy fairy' (I've had for ages). The pink lace was bought from a local market stall a few months ago.

For my card I used a lovely Dazzling Ace Designs image, kindly supplied by the sponsor. The foiled panel across the middle (much more shiny irl) has been upcycled from the remains of a Christmas cracker and the reindeer washi tape  added top abd bottom. Fan-tastic Tuesday challenge 82

This is my design card for Fan-tastic Tuesday challenge 82: anything goes with a twist ... stitching, real or faux. Please click on the link to see the lovely designs of the rest of the team and join in our challenge.

For my card I used a butterfly image from The Stamping Boutique, the sponsor of the challenge. I printed on to a piece of Papermania 'lemon sorbet' capsule paper, coloured with spectrum noirs, which was then cut and faux stitched  (drawn with pen in holder instead of needle) on my Scan n Cut, also creating a card blank and extra piece for the easel from a 'flittered' sheet of DCWV card with circles with more faux stitching. Twine wrapped around the base with a sentiment panel created the stopper for the easel.
