Sad news here last night - John's first guide dog, Oscar, had to be put to sleep - he was a very poorly dog in the end - he was 13 last November, so a good age for a golden retriever. He not only was so precious to John as a guide dog, but to us both as a pet - although he hadn't lived with us for some time now, we still felt an attachment to him and are very sad - he was so special. We are so glad that Bob brought him over to see us the day before his 13th birthday (we could tell then that he wouldn't last too much longer).
So sorry to hear the sad news about Oscar hun. You and John must be feeling pretty numb right now. He was such a beautiful and special dog, but atleast he is not now suffering. Big hugs Clare xxx

Aww Hazel, I’m sorry to hear about Oscar, that’s so sad. He may have been a ‘working’dog but he was still a part of your family and it’s understandable that you should both feel the loss.
