Suzie's 365 photos day 54: in the details

For Suzie's day 54 I'm showing the details on the back of a book of postage stamps:

Putting something in the post nowadays isn't as simple as it used to be a few years ago. Now we have to make sure it isn't too thick or too long or too wide ... and rumour has it that costs are going to soar yet again in April - time to buy up a few books in advance, I think.

  1. Yes- it's not so easy anymore. I always wprry that a birthday card might fall into the next category. I must stock up on stamps at Costco next time I go!

  2. Thanks for the warning. I usually buy stamps as I need them, a habit I got into when we didn't have any spare cash, but think I will break the habit.

  3. It really is more and more complicated and expensive - everywhere. Luckily there is the internet but it is nice to get a real letter or card.

  4. I stocked up on stamps last year before they went up and still have some left. I will certainly get some more before April as I have saved a fortune.

  5. In the UK you are lucky that some of the stamps just say 1st or 2nd...here they have a monetary value, and when there is a price hike we have to go to the Estanco and buy extra 1 or 2 cent stamps to supplement the old ones. There are very strict rules about what is and what isn't a 'normal' envelope, and a square envelope of any size for instance is not considered 'normal' and costs double the usual rate.

  6. I agree with you Hazel. Nowadays, you kind of need a PhD just to send a simple letter ! I used to work part time in a Post Office when they changed the system and people used to complain like anything.
