CBC CCAD 3 + Rainbow Lady challenge 40: snowman
Today's CCAD on CBC is a recipe:
'you can make anything you fancy BUT your creation MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING

* some blooms
* some ribbon'
Once again, I've used Dovecraft papers (4 layered + the image), blooms, ribbon and buttons.
The theme this week on Rainbow Lady's blog is 'snowman', so I'm submitting this card there as well.

For CCAD 2, Sue provided us with this picture:
and asked us to make something using the colours (red, gold and green).
I used Dovecraft papers (again from the packet sent to me by Annmarie) and a sentiment square topped with one of the Dovecraft paper images. I then added a few gems.

For day 1, Sue provided this template:
The holly is a Tanda Stamp designed by Sheila (I confess that I bought it last year and, although I loved it, I didn't use it then). As I didn't want the bottom bit to be as long as the side image, I inked up and then put a piece of kitchen towel over the bit of the stamp I didn't want. I inked with archival library green and coloured with Marvy pens.
The background paper is a last year's Papermania one (I'm still trying to use them up) and the image is cut from a Dovecraft paper that was in a pack sent to me by Annmarie. The surrounds of the picture and the sentiment strips are layered on silver foiling, which isn't really apparent in the scan.

I need now to make an effort to use up some of the bits and pieces that I've got left from making other cards, so that I don't have as much Christmas craft stuff to stash away in the new year as I had at the beginning of this year. And quite a lot of it is red and green, so this challenge wasn't that difficult - it was more a case of what not to use, rather than what to use. CBC 077 pink and green

Today's challenge is to prove the saying wrong - let's celebrate pink and green combos! You can throw in the fairy queen as well if you'd like to Cards, LOs, tags, altered items... anything goes!'

TGIF 61: games + Cupcake:16: vintage
While I'd got the box out with the photos for the builder's card shown on the previous post, I decided to make two or three very quick cards, using some dominoes photos. The theme on TGIF this week is games, so I thought these were appropriate. It so happened that I had a Happy Birthday with a background that matched the background of the dominoes photo, so I just mounted it with a domino surround:

Crafty Creations 28: for the boys
I was asked by a friend to make a 50th birthday card for someone who is a builder - incorporating a builder's van or something related to the trade. I thought I was going to have to get a clipart picture or something - crafty friends made suggestions of certain die cuts etc.
This morning I suddenly remembered that there were some builder type photos among those I got with a QVC concept card package a while ago.
So the photos, which are silver foil edged have been mounted on to a sheet of paving slabs from PDA. I thought the addition of the screw brads that I bought ages ago from CBC was a good idea.
It's probably stretching a point, but I'm linking this for this week's challenge on Crafty Creations: 'for the boys' (it doesn't say how old the boys need to be!).
It was difficult to get a photo because of the silver reflection, but you can get the idea.

BF Advent 1 and HS:MS:HS
Today is the first day of December - the day when we can start opening advent presents. The other day I showed the parcel I received from my secret advent swapee (is that a word?) on BF forum.

CBC ATCs velvet
I nearly forgot about these. The choice this month was velvet or vintage (or a combination of the two).
Earlier in the week I ironed velvet paper on to a rubber stamp - one of my favourites atm - and today I just added some stickles icicles.
These are very simple, but it was all I could think of doing with velvet:
Some people have asked what this technique is, so I thought I'd add this:
You just place the rubber stamp with the rubber uppermost and put the velvet paper on top of it, with the velvet side against the rubber. Then you use a medium to high hot iron to press firmly on top to get the impression. It really works better with a bolder pattern, but I wanted to use the trees.

The photo I've used as the entire background of the card was taken some years ago in Tenerife - in fact irl the colours on the card, particularly the rainbow, are a lot more vibrant than on this scan. The image in the bottom corner is from a 'love and marriage' Dottie download and the quotation is computer generated, printed straight on to the photo background.

BF forum CJ
Where does time go? It's the first of the month tomorrow and that means it's time to post on the CJ within the group on the BF forum.
When I received Rosie's CJ 'I am' I had a fair idea of what I would do, but I put it off and for the past week or so I haven't been well. I was hesitant to do my DLO because I didn't want to make a mess in someone else's CJ.
I had intended to print out the writing for this - in fact I did so - and then I decided that the papers I wanted to use would lend themselves to handwriting rather than print. This is pretty brave for me (or stupid, depending on which way I look at it!) because my writing isn't up to much these days. So I thought I'd have a go and if I ruined it I could always go back to the idea of printing, but it seemed to be OK, so I've stuck with it.
The papers (Dream Street), flowers and buttons were all part of a BF kit (I think it was July, or it might have been a Think Pink one) - which seemed appropriate to use for a CJ on the BF forum.
It was only after I'd finished and taken the photos that I realised that everyone else who had contributed so far had included a photo, so I've added my photo to the sign in tag at the back.

Lili of the valley 10: sprinkle and sparkle + ABC Quick card
I've used some more of the sparkly, sprinkly shaker embellishments on this simple card. The background is K & Co Tim Coffey Birthdays. This fits in well with this week's Lili of the valley challenge: sprinkle and sparkle:
It took me so little time that I'm also linking it for the ABC Q challenge: Quick card (although this challenge was a couple of weeks ago - trying to catch up with them).
I've just realised that the scan of the card showed the sprinkles spread out so that you can't see the 'Happy Birthday', so here is a (poor quality) photo that does show it:

Dottie's world Sunday challenge: fabulous flowers
The challenge on Dottie's world this week is to use flowers - Louise said: 'I want you to make something (it doesn't have to be a card) and embellish it with flowers of some description. You can use flowers in your image or in the pattern on your paper but there must still be a flower(s) forming the main part of the embellishments, it could be silk or paper flowers, brads, buttons you get the idea right? As always Dottie's World challenges must have one of the Charmed downloads on them somewhere.'
I used the freebie Dottie Fairy that was given to every entrant in the 'black, white and a splash of colour'. I printed it on to a piece of pink patterned paper (not sure what it is - was in my offcuts box - think it might be HOTP) and added lots of primas and crystal stickers.
