Thinking of you

The image of this card was originally on a twisted easel card, which I took to pieces and have used on this card. It is a Penny Black sweet peas stamp coloured with copics. This is mounted on to the pink background and on to a lilac card blank, with the addition of the craftime 'Thinking of you' sentiment.

The embossed were created with a Create too folder, sanded and swiped with firebrick DI.

The beautiful dragonfly that I've used on this card was rescued from an old card - too good to discard. The Get Well Soon sentiment is a rub on.

Recycling in the pink

This card was made from various recycled bits apart from the bright pink card blank. I'm still not sure whether to add something to the white space or not.

The tag under the Birthday one isn't dirty - it's silver and so it got a bit of reflection from the flash. The pink strip across the top has silver foiling and the butterfly at the bottom - unfortunately, it doesn't really show up here.

TTC12 10 on Crafts by Carolyn forum this month is 'white space', so I'm showing this card there.

Get well soon

This Get Well card was made using a patterned card blank on to which I put a recycled panel from a card received and a recycled ribbon. Unfortunately, the 'Get well soon' sentiment, which is in silver, is hardly visible here, but you can see it if you look closely - lol!

The top rose is decoupaged. Both roses and leaves are glittered, but, yet again,. this doesn't show very well.

Lillies for sympathy

When I was going through bits and pieces this morning I came across some lillies - I used to use quite a lot of these a few years ago, but somehow they have been neglected and forgotten. So I decided to mount them, with a bow of ribbon, on to a scalloped oval and then on to a shiny white card blank. I wouldn't normally mix cream with white, but I think it works with this card.

The card insert says: In deepest sympathy - I didn't think the card needed a sentiment on the front.

This is another one for CBC TTC12 10 'white space'.

Kindle cover cards

A few weeks ago I bought a Kindle with some birthday money. It came in a sturdy box which I found yesterday and thought I'd put it in the recycling bin, but when I opened up the sleeve that had been around the Kindle I discovered the the inside was black with kraft letters on it - far too good to put into the recycling bin:

So I made two cards, just using black cards blanks and some kraft paper:

These are for:

CRAFT 176: monochromatic (the first card)
Sentimental Sundays 124: black/white + another colour
Card crafters circle: black, white and one other colour

At last ...

... a bit of crafting time - I've spent the morning putting together lots of cards, using some recycled materials and cannibalising some of my own cards that I made some time ago.

I originally had a multi-fold Christmas card that I've cut up and altered to make three different cards:

I'm entering these for the following challenges:

Alphabet: R for recycle, repurpose
Unstampabelles 16: recycled or repurposed (no stamping on the first and third card)

WOYWW 176

I haven't taken part in WOYWW for a couple of weeks - and the last time I did I really didn't have anything to show. Mum is settling well now into the residential home, but it's been a busy time with clearing her old place and also quite a bit of telephoning and paperwork, not to mention lots of visits to mum.

This means that there has been very little time to craft ... I'm missing it. I'm preparing this Tuesday evening and am hoping to have tomorrow (Wednesday) to be able to get some crafting and blogging done.

So, here is my workspace atm - to the left of where I sit - a box of software, windows 7,  Microsoft office - I've re-installed windows 7 in the hope that it would eliminate the trouble I've had with a freezing PC and blue screens of death ... didn't really work, so I've now uninstalled google chrome and then re-installed ... and will see what happens ... if it doesn't stop the problem, then I'll re-install Office because the crashes often seem to happen when I've got Outlook or Word open. You can also see a pile of paperwork topped with a couple of notebooks. The stamps are some that arrived today that I won for a House of Gilli challenge.

On the right hand side there isn't a lot - a pile in the corner that needs seeing to - some acrylic stamps on a block ready to be used, a couple of cards that I made quickly today using the inside of the cardboard wrap around my recently purchased Kindle (far too good to get rid of) ... oh, and an old laptop that John used to use as an emergency in case my PC fails.

If you're wondering why I've done this blogpost, just click on WOYWW 176 and have a peep and join in the fun.

CHNC challenge 94: snowflakes

It's amazing how the weeks go by - it doesn't seem possible that we're getting well into October and not too long now before we need to have all those Christmas cards made. If you haven't yet joined in my CHNC challenges, now is a good time, so why not head over to CHNC challenge 94 and make a card that includes snowflakes - easy peasy!!

The challenge this week is once again being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps, so supplied me and my Guest Designer, Kim, with digital papers and stamps.

For my card I've used the 'snowman snowflakes'. I coloured the image with a mixture of copics and Marvy le plume alcohol pens, cutting it out with a labels die cut. The almost transparent ribbon with rainbow colours across the bottom is an offcut that just adds a touch of sparkle. The big snowflake is one by Anna Griffin - it was originally cream, so I coloured with an alcohol pen and added the stars from Poundland.

I used the sketch for Always playing with paper merry Monday 36:

And I used colours for Christmas card challenges week 45:

Peacock colours

The colours for this altered notebook were inspired by the picture given for Cupcake Inspirations 181:

Also for Friday mashup 79: feeling blue:

The card I've used for it was not only a snippet from my offcuts box, but was originally cut from a stationery wallet, so it is recycled, a snippet of stitched ribbon and some lovely shiny decoupaged flowers (yet again, sorry about the glare).

For my sale on Saturday I altered 16 small notebooks suitable to tuck into a pocket or small handbag - these went down a treat - I sold all of them.

This is a mainly pink one, using a snippet of DCWV paper, some layered flower stickers and an epoxy padded pink oblong sticker.

Sorry about the reflection, but the paper is very 'flittered' and shiny, as are the flowers and sticker.

Purple and pink Christmas

Five simple cards to make up another pack, this time using some Kanban purple and silver card (I've hoarded this for ages) with a little bit of torn pink (Kate Knight) scraps tucked underneath. The 'peace on earth' Personal Impressions stamp was inked with memento grape jelly and mounted on purple mirror card - think this qualifies for another catch up on Facebook Sunday's with Santa for week 38: just a sentiment.

Red and white Christmas

'Red and white' was the theme chosen by Sylvie for the Christmas Card Club challenge for today. The sketch for Christmas challenges with sketches 44 (please click on the link to see the sketch) was perfect for using up narrow pieces of Christmas paper offcuts and I've used a piece of the lovely red and white ribbon that I got on a market stall some time ago. The thick felt reindeer with the lovely gingham bow is from The Ribbon Girl (it was part of a prize I won recently) - I've been waiting for an opportunity to use this! Even the white backing to the reindeer was from an offcuts box. With the addition of a sentiment from stash, the card was done. Another catch up for Facebook Sunday's with Santa - this time for today's 'plain and simple' (only got two weeks to catch up now).

Trying to catch up a bit ...

There's still quite a lot to do following mum's move to a residential home, but I've had a day in today and thought I'd make a card for Pinky's 'a teddy bear' challenge for the Christmas Card Club (I'm two weeks late with this). This is also for Sunday's with Santa on Facebook for week 39 (last Sunday): anything goes.

I've used a couple of Forever Friends bears hugging each other and two or three other elements which were actually part of a set to be used for an anniversary or engagement. I've used Christmas paper offcuts and a piece of glittery holly ribbon that I've had for ages. The sentiment was computer/printer generated and edged with a red copic.

What a week! Not much time for cardmaking, so I'm glad that I made my card for today's CHNC challenge 93 in advance. The theme this week is 'carol singing' - please click on the link and join in the fun.

For my card I've used some Christmas paper offcuts, including the script vellum on the right. The shaped image is from a Hunkydory kit.

WOYWW 174

The picture says it all!! This is my WOYWW 174:

Unfortunately, no crafting going on. It's been a very hectic couple of weeks - mum has now gone into a residential home and there are obviously lots of things to now get sorted. Crafting has had to take a back seat.

I've got a Tearfund sale on Saturday - good job I've got stocks already, although I could do with filling some gaps.

I'm going to be busy again today, but hoping that I'll have some time to myself tomorrow and Friday to get ready for Saturday.

If I don't get to visit fellow WOYWWers, it's not because I don't want to ... it's because of present circumstances.
