Suzie's 365 day 69: fuzzy

It's been a difficult day, so no crafting to show (just managed to prepare my card ready for my Christmas challenge tomorrow, but that's all), and I'm very late in the day with a photo for Suzie's day 69: fuzzy.

It's a picture of Ellie who came to stay with me October 2008 after I'd won her in a Think Pink auction. She was made by Kaz.

I'm so tired that I have to admit that I've resorted to showing a photo that I'd already got (if I'm feeling like it I'll take an up to date one tomorrow - although Ellie isn't going to look any different - lol!).

Woof, woof

Yesterday I had the privilege of being a guest designer on For Fun where this week's challenge is 'woof woof meow!' I chose a cat theme for my card (you can see it here), but I thought I would now join in the challenge with a dog theme, so I've used my inkadinkado golden retriever stamp inked with memento cocoa bean and coloured with copics.

The sketch is for Sketches by Carly 51:

Colours are for this week's Daring cardmakers challenge where this inspiration picture was given:

This colour combo is quite unusual, but I love it. I used V & A linen effect papers on a lemon card blank (although it doesn't look lemon here), the blue paper is an old piece of K & Co and the image was stamped on an offcut of lemon textured card. This is another for Pixie's crafty snippets 10. The animal print ribbon has been in my stash for ages; the button is a die cut one that I cut with an Ellison thin cuts die, coloured with a copic marker.

Hearts just for you

This is for the sketch for Totally Gorjuss 121:

I'm not really sure about this card (think it might be too 'busy') - not having a very good day today. Anyway, the background paper and scalloped borders are by Kirsty Wiseman (free with Crafts beautiful), the felt hearts etc were from WHSmith, the band across the middle from Poundland and other bits and pieces from stash. The felt hearts and ribbon are for Ribbon carousel 44: 'cause we felt like it.

This is suitable for mother's day (with the appropriate insert), so it's also for:

Suzie's 365 day 68: bathtime

The nearest we get to bathtime nowadays is a shower. A few months ago, because of mobility problems, we had our bath taken out and our bathroom re-arranged with a lovely shower cabinet installed. As you can see, there's a seat that can be pulled down.

Suzie's 365 day 68: bathtime:

For day 3 on Suzie's photos the topic was 'ugly' and I showed the pipes and mess that was revealed when the bath was taken out - what a transformation (you can see what it looked like here).

My first paper piecing card

The challenge for Flashback Friday 21 is to show our first paper pieced card. Although I'd been making cards for years before this, my first attempt at paper piecing was with this card in February 2010 - you can see the original post here.

More secret birthday wishes

Another card made with Cath Kidston papers, matted on to an A5 patterned card blank, once again using a pocket and the birthday greeting on a card inside it. I simply added the Dena supplies butterfly.

This is based on the sketch for Eat,  sleep, stamp 162:

I took the 'pocket' theme from the photo inspiration on Inspired by 13:

Colours are for Cupcake 182: yellow and red

This is also for:

Dutch dare 154: tic tac toe - I chose bright colours, flowers, springtime
Allsorts 144: spread your wings

Secret birthday wishes

This is a pocket card made with papers from a Cath Kidston stationery set. The main paper I used was double sided, so I cut and layered one side on top of the other from another sheet before matting on to an A5 patterned pink/red card blank.

This is for Southern girls 39: show me a secret - a pocket on the card with a Happy Birthday message inside.

The chipboard butterfly was rescued from a card received a long time ago. This is for:

An oriental birthday greeting

This is for the sketch for Moving along with the times:
It's also for Charisma cardz 8: masking, with the option of using three stamps. I used three oriental stamps that I recently purchased, stamping the kimono behind the image of the lady and then stamping the blossom behind both. I coloured with copics and then just added the flowers and the sentiment panel. The background paper is Basic Grey eva.

Suzie's 365 day 67: floor

This is the fairly new carpet that we had put into the room where I craft (the previous one was getting a bit too worse for wear with evidence of glue, ink etc). I need to be careful with this one. It's quite a light colour, which I am pleased about because it goes much better with the curtains than the previous carpet it - the good thing is that it is swirly with different shades of colour, so, hopefully, it will hide anything that's added to it - that's the theory anyway!

So here is my floor for Suzie's day 67:

Suzie's 365 day 46: cooking

I had to wait till I was cooking in the evening to get a photo for yesterdays Suzie's day 66. I took the photo and then forgot to blog it. Part of what I cooked last night: some sizzling red peppers:

Commissioned golf card

I've been asked to make a card for a birthday with a golfing theme and to incorporate decoupage. I've used the sketch for Prairie fairy Fridays 73:

The background paper is from PDA card and craft, the embossed spots panel was run through my cuttlebug with an embossing folder. The decoupaged golfer and caddy have been in my stash for ages (I tend to go in fits and starts with decoupage!). The green netting and stickers from stash.

For Fun Guest Design slot

It's a privilege to have been invited to be a guest designer on For Fun for this week and next week. Today's challenge is Woof woof meow! - to use a cat or dog on your card - it should be a focal point.

For my card I've used the sketch for this week's Willow Sketchie, which, in addition to the sketch, asked for the use of two patterned papers:

The background paper was from PDA card & crafts and the script paper is 7 gypsies life noir.

I've used one of my favourite Penny Black stamps 'brimming with love' and coloured with copics.

It would be lovely to see you play along with the For Fun challenge - hope to see you there!

Leap year birthday

I'm a bit late showing this, but better late than never. This is a card for someone with a birthday on 29 February. The paper on which I circled the date is Webster's pages petite papers Wetern romance & all about me (free with Simply cards & Papercraft magazine). I stamped the Whispers ivy stamp on to the esign with stazon cactus green and coloured with copic G000 pale green, highlighting some of the original design as well.

I made the mistake of sticking on the wooden frog embellishment before I ran the paper through the printer to print the wording, so I had to carefully peel it off again - thankfully, it didn't damage the paper. The strip across the top is a piece of plain green card embossed with a border folder through my cuttlebug and scalloped with my rotatrim.

For a Simpsons fan

This card is for a great nephew who is a big Simpsons fan. The papers are K & Co Hopscotch (they seemed to go perfectly with the colours of the Bart Simpson picture that I found).

This is for Crazy amigo: comic character (just scraping in at the last moment), Creative card crew 5: humour and Here come the boys 22: super/comic/cartoon heros.

I've used the sketch for Inspirational card sketches 153:

The striped band of paper and colours were inspired by Craft us crazy 22 colour inspiration:

The image was cut out with a nestie with the edges lightly distressed with spiced marmalade.

Red and white Christmas

The challenge on Winter wonderland this week is a photo inspiration:

Seeing green for Christmas

I really should be making more Easter cards, but I can't resist when it comes to making Christmas cards (and I make about 600 every year, so I really do need to spread the task throughout the year).

There are lots of crafting challenges around atm asking for green to be used, and this includes this month's challenge on Christmas cards all year round where we are asked to use two different green patterned papers. My Anna Griffin papers have come to rescue for these cards - just adding some 3D holly stickers to the first two, with a sentiment and a fun reindeer sticker to the third card. The dark green paper on the first two cards is very glittery and the green paper on the third card is flocked, so feels lovely.
