Baby cards

This evening I've made a batch of ten baby cards, using various papers and bits (picture will enlarge with a click):



Now, sadly, I need to go to the other extreme and make some sympathy cards because I've got none in stock.

CBC weekend challenge 16

Challenge 16 involved making a card to specific instructions by Helen (and they are so clear and the card is wonderful).

All papers and other bits used were Brenda Pinnick except for the journalling piece on the inner card, which is DCWV.





That's another Christmas card done for Saturday.

CBC weekend challenge 14

you can make ANYTHING you like so long as a piece is HIDDEN obviously the hidden piece will need to be revealed so we know it was hidden in the first place IYSWIM'

I need to make some more new home cards, so that's what I did for this challenge. The papers are K & Co Brookfield. The pocket on the front was one that was already cut, but I made the tag and then layered it with the handwritten sentiment. And out came the primas again (I seemed to have neglected them for a long time, but have used them quite a bit recently).





This also fits the Arty Girlz challenge 59: 'hand drawn element' although it's officially too late for that.

Busy, but nothing to show

I've been getting ready for taking my cards etc to the minimarket at church and also to mum's sheltered accommodation's Christmas fair - both events are on Saturday. I've been bagging and labelling cards and finding some batches of Christmas cards that I started with a flourish long ago and they needed finishing off - nothing much, but it all takes time. I've also made some easy pyramage cards and some that are the opposite (don't know what they're called - looking into the picture instead of building up). Anyway, it's far too late to take any photos and bother to put them on here and I don't even know whether I'll have time to do so tomorrow, but if I do, I'll show a few then. One was a birthday card for our son.

So, I've been busy, but nothing to show on here now.

I'd like to finish the challenges for the special weekend on CBC - most of them I can fit in with cards I still need to make.

The papers I used are from last year (or the year before!) - I think they are Papermania, but I'm not sure (all I know is that I have quite an assortment of them). I think the pink and green make a change.

I think I've got all of the ingredients. It's a papermania card that's already got a foiled design on it. I've added the beautiful butterfly ribbon (which is a much richer colour irl) and the charm is pinned with a safety pin from the back of the card. The gems are crystal stickers elements (they are stuck together in strips, which makes it easier to get them straight). There is glitter on the ribbon.

CBC weekend challenge 12

'This challenge is to make something from a item you have put in that bottom drawer. You know the one where you got a gift etc and thought the packaging might be really handy for something one day. Well this is the day.'

This was originally a tin that came free with some expert products from Boots (I got a couple of them a while back, so I've shown one altered before, but I can assure you this one has just been done - completely different colour scheme to the other one):



I used alcohol inks on the metal lid - a mixture of red pepper and butterscotch. The blooms were from Wilkinsons (there were so many of them - bought them ages ago - I've used loads of them on different projects) and the yellow one in the middle is from ELC (pity they don't seem to do them anymore and I've nearly exhausted my stock).

The yellow gingham is a sticky ribbon and the coppery coloured one around the edge of the tin is one I've had for ages (wondering what to do with it) - had a job to get it stuck down, but won in the end.

'I would like you to make a coaster, it can be made out of anything you like.
It could be cork/plastic or even one you've just altered.

YOU MUST INCLUDE THE PAPER YOU LOVE THE MOST AT THE MOMENT.'

The paper is BG fruitcake (love it - in fact love all the Christmas ones in that range).

I layered pieces of card, using my new bookbinding glue that I got at last the other day, cover the top piece with the PP before sticking to the base piece, so that there are no edges showing. Pieces of sticky ribbon complete it.

This was a good challenge. I think I might make some more of these to use at Christmas (could also make bigger table mats).

CBC weekend challenge 8

Challenge 8 was to make a bookmark.

I've used K & Co Hannah paper (double sided) using both sides matted so that the back matches the paper used for the quote, with the addition of some eyelash fibres:

There's a weekend of challenges on CBC atm, so why is it that I'm making a card for one of the normal challenges on CBC instead? It could be because I was putting something else away and came across the paper roses and remembered the challenge ... and also remembered that I'd found a new challenge site called Mixed Media Monday (I don't mean it's new, because it isn't, it's just new to me) and the theme is 'colours of autumn'.

So this card fits in with both of them. It's very similar to one I've made before (using scraps up) and there's more gold flowers than originally intended, but a couple now hide some marks I made on the gold mat for the paper roses.

My Time to Craft challenge 35: coffee and cream

The theme this week on My Time to Craft is 'coffee and cream'.

I used a base card that is cream but speckled with gold. I used the same card for the matted layer, which was mounted on gold matt card to give a thin surround. The stamps I've used are Dawn Bibby ones by Personal Impressions - they were stamped using Brilliance coffee bean and embossed with clear detail.

For HS:MS:HS today I thought I'd share a photo that I've used on a couple of forums this week. I didn't take it - it was taken four years ago and is cropped from a photo of John and me - the photo that I used for my Salt LO this time.



I'd forgotten about HS today until I visited Janice's blog, so thanks, Janice, for the reminder.

Rosie Dee's challenge 8

Yay! I got this Rosie Dee challenge done within the timescale.

Rosie challenged us to make a 'trio of tags' for Christmas. This is a timely reminder that I need to make more before the sale at church in a week's time, so this has given me a nudge in the right direction.

Two of these tags were cuttlebug embossed and the other one randomly stamped with a Dawn Bibby designs stamp and embossed with detail silver. Most of the other bits are Syntego or Brenda Pinnick.

Rosie Dee's challenge 7

I know this is only a simple LO, but it's one I've been wanting to do for ages (and I still don't consider myself to be a scrapper, so still tend to do cards out of preference). Anyway, challenge 7 on Rosie Dee (I know, I know, challenge 8 will be over tomorrow and I'm only just doing 7!!) was to make a LO any size, but not 12 x 12. So I've done a 12 x 6.

The background paper is Shan Lawrence British Beach (very appropriate!) matted on to Craft Creations pale blue texture. The letters are Thickers vinyl. In case you can't see it very well, the word in brackets at the top is 'BRITISH' - says it all for this summer. You can see it clearly if you click on the picture to make it larger.

The photo of the deckchairs was one I took while on holiday in Eastbourne and at the time I thought it was crying out to be scrapped.

A simple LO, but I had fun doing it - thanks for the challenge to do something different.

Lots to do 33: black and white

A card for the current challenge on Lots to do: black and white.

Background papers are DCWV (I think - or might be Dovecraft - had them for some time). Sizzix car front die in shiny black with silver mirror headlights. The greeting across the top says 'Happy Birthday', but it's difficult to read on the photo because it's foiled with silver on a sparkly black. The number plate was printed with my dymo letratag:

Magnolia vs Stampavie challenge 1 sketch it

This is a card for the new challenge site Magnolia vs Stampavie.

A sketch was provided - a stamp has to be used from a designated list, which includes Magnolia, hence the tilda stamp which was coloured with various pencils and Sansodor.

Dottie's world: black, white & a splash of colour

Sunday's challenge on Dottie's world is 'black, white & a splash of colour'.

I used the Christening image from the Love & Marriage Dottie range, just adding the text and a peel off gold cross. I didn't have a gold heart, so I double embossed a plain one.

DCM sparkle & bling (and a late One Stop Craft)

I fully intended to do the 'things with wings' challenge on One Stop Craft, but I didn't start it till this morning and there's already a different challenge there now.

However, the challenge on DCM this week is 'sparkle and bling', so I made sure this card has plenty of that.

I'm not sure where the background paper is from (think it was free with a mag), but, if you look carefully, you can see that it has butterflies on it. I bought this gorgeous butterfly stamp a while ago and this is the first time I've used it - with versamark and silver detail EP. Just added a bit of bling and the sentiment. The silver leaves etc down the lefthand side is a self adhesive border (bought a pack of three different colours, but not really happy because they are difficult to get off the backing - tear easily).



This also fits the theme on the Sunday Stamper challenge 33: 'tie a yellow ribbon' on Ink on my fingers, so I'm linking for that.

I don't normally do much lemon or yellow, so this makes a change.
